So happy! I had almost given up looking to replace a pair of tailored granny-style boots that I had worn like crazy with cropped trousers and long skirts. Every boot I tried was too casual, or short, or not fitted at low calf. After two years of looking, I didn't have high expectations for Courtney (love the quality of Frye, but the line can run towards casual/rustic), but! The second I opened the box, I knew I had a winner!I First, the fit: LIke most Frye shoes and boots, I ordered a 1/2 size down and that fit perfectly. The boot is a tad narrow, but this works as I have slightly narrow and long feet (usually take 8.5). Second, color/finish: I bought the darker brown, and the color is rich and polished like a fine Saville Row men's dress shoe. Dark brown can sometimes look cheap when the tone is chocolate/flat, but not so with courtly Courtney. Third, design features: 1) Thankfully, Frye added a side zip to these. Definitely wanted the look of laces, but since so much of Courtney's great look comes the being fitted along the ankle, I plan to keep the laces fairly tight. Without that zipper, I'd be wrestling too much to get into them. That's a deal breaker for someone always rushing out the door. 2) The heel adds some lift and is very stable. Would have loved to have them slightly higher for an even dressier look, but Frye boots seem to run either really high (4") or chunky, clunky low (0-1/2"). Courtney's heel is a little higher than what I would call "chunky/low," so I'll take it. 3. Faux cap toe: There is a bit of stitching across the cap of the toe that adds a slightly dressy look while also flattering a longer foot. Would love to see some Fryes take such details further (more tailored, more menswear detail, e.g. wing tip perfs). Bottom line: Courtney was worth waiting for. I may buy other colors once my wallet recovers. Thanks, Zappos!

really love these boots, but they don't love my wide feet, high arch and high instep. I was able to get them on my feet, but they looked weird, because of my high in-step. I'm so sad to have to send them back. All of you ladies with narrow feet, I commend you on being able to wear this style.

These boots are so comfy! I can walk for hours in them! Even most of my flats are not as comfortable, and hurt after awhile. I have big feet(size 11!), old feet (63 yrs old),knee replacements and a spinal fusion. I NEEDED comfy shoes! The heel is a great height for waking and does not bother my knees or back, but is high enough to satisfy my woman's vanity! Look fab with pants! Got to try Frye Boots again in the future. These were worth every penny!

I love these boots. The heel backing was a little stiff out of the box and the boots felt slightly snug when I got them two days ago, but they feel awesome after two days wearing them and walking in them. No blisters here. I treated the leather with a weather resistant spray- and while we're on the subject of the leather, it feels like butter. So lovely. I ordered these in gray size 9.5, and I would say these are a taupe color. Still, they feel great, support my ankle, and look awesome with cropped jeans for a casual outfit. Love Frye.

Gorgeous buttery leather!-No need to break them in as others have reviewed. I wanted a combat boot with a sleek feminine shape without a load of silver hardware. This boot is it! High quality that Frye is known for. These are more lightweight than Frye boots usually are which is nice. Fits true to size, I wear a 9-9.5m in shoes & a 10m in most boots for sock room (& most boots fit smaller anyway). I took my normal size 10m in this boot as my Zappos rep recommended & SO glad I did as it fit perfectly! Highly recommended boot & crazy fast Zappos shipping. THANK YOU!

Did not like the color...it had a slight mustardy cast to the otherwise warm brown. I wish it came in an antique brown, or a warm brown. Otherwise a gorgeous boot.

Love these boots! I danced all summer in them playing Mary Poppins! Comfy and supportive, not one night when my feet ached! Plus, I can wear them all fall and winter! Love them, will purchase more. Very well worth the price tag!

I love these boots so much, I have them in two colors! The gray and black. They were the easiest to break in out of all the Frye boots I've had, and the heel is stylish but still low enough that they're comfortable to wear everywhere. They did take about a month or so to break in, but definitely worth it! Also, Taylor Swift has a pair of these boots. Just saying.

I got these boots for a show - part of my costume for "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" and I just love them. Very cute, and, most importably, comfortable (for standing in the wings and onstage and dancing)! I just love them.

Comfortable and beautifully made boots. The ball my feet are wide, but I have narrow heels and high arches. I wear a size 6 or 6 1/2. I ordered these in 6 1/2 and they are perfect with almost any sock. Highly recommended.

These are great boots! Superior Frye quality as usual, comfortable and very cute. These are true to size for me. I have the Courtney slip on style in four colors and find these fit the same. I bought these in the black and I will probably be back for another color in these too. Wonderful customer service from Zappos as usual, too. Zappos is terrific.

Amazingly well made and comfortable. They seem to run a little narrow and small so consider ordering a size up. These are my first Frye boots and I am definitely sold on the price point vs. the quality being well worth it.

Worth the splurge! Comfy right out of the box, no breaking in at all. Looks amazing with skinny jeans, leggings, and tights. The heel is high enough to give a little lift. And my cranky ex-dancer feet with bunions which hurt even wearing sneakers, don't hurt one bit in these boots. I can wear them all day and night. With these boots, my whole wardrobe suddenly makes sense again. My favorite shoe purchase in a really long time. I was happy I ordered a half size up from my usual size, I think Fryes run a hair small.

Absolutely love 'em. They're worth the price, the leather is beautiful, they look fashionable and they're comfortable to wear all day long. I would expect these boots will last for years to come.

These were great out of the box. I'm a size 8 in length but I'd developed bunions in the last three years, and I was afraid the 8s would be tight. They're snug, but not painful, and I can feel that there's give to the leather. I know I can walk long city blocks in these. My most comfortable pair of shoes are inexpensive grannies with chunky heels. I thought I would not be able to find something similar--and I've found them in the Courtney lace-up. Even though they're considerably more money than my other grannies, I'm happy to have them.

Boots that are so spot on for my feet. I think they used the mold of my feet when they first created this darling pair. I just have to say that my quest is over in finding the perfect ankle boots. Quality, style, fit and height all thrown in one. I wear a narrow 6.5 and this narrow pair still gave my feet a wee bit of room for my feet to breathe. These boots are perfect if you have narrow feet. Thank you, Frye for finally making boots for petite feet! And Zappos, amazing, superb service as usual. Thank you!

Wow. Buttery soft leather, comfortable right out of the box. These lace up boots are dressier than the combat boots style, and will be perfect with skirts and leggings. I wear 7 in shoes, 7.5 in boots and the 7.5 in these gave me the perfect amount of room for light socks. This is my second pair of Frye, and I was not disappointed in the weight, quality and style. So worth the investment!

I love these boots! The heel is just high enough to give you some lift but low enough that they are still very comfortable for everyday wear.

It broke my heart to send these back! Most beautiful pair of boots ever. Exceptional workmanship, as expected from Frye. But, after wearing them in the house only, I decided that my very fussy feet were never going to withstand the break-in period required. I wish I could say, as other reviewers do, that these boots were comfortable right out of the box, but they were not. I know that good quality boots take some time to break in, but at this price, I was not willing to take the chance that they may or may not ever become wearable.

Got these in the mail today. I love the look of these boots. The slight heel is a nice touch of style, and it is short enough that the boots are still really easy to walk in. I got my usual size 8.5 in Frye's and most other brands and they fit, but they do feel just a bit tight. I think they will stretch a tiny bit, though, or at least mold to my feet some. They are not tight enough to be uncomfortable, but since I do have narrow feet, I am worried about how they will feel on those who have wider feet if they feel a little tight on me. This boot is exactly what I was looking for as a laid back college student who is studying in Europe this next year! Very cute worn laced up or folded down. You should definitely give them a try!

I work in a store that has industrial carpet over a cement floor; finding shoes that are comfortable all day is a real challenge. These boots were comfortable right away- no break-in period needed. This is my 4th pair of Fryes, so I can vouch for their fine quality and classic stylishness.
