Can't say enough how great this jacket is. Perfect for the winter . I can wear a T-shirt under and totally toasty. Usually I have to vent after a few minutes.
I have had this jacket for five years. Zero defects. No loss of down. No de lamination nothing.
Sizing is spot on. I did order in xl. I little to have room to layer. Also a little wiggle room. I fit the large sizing except for the chest. The jacket fits well, not too big and baggy. But room if you needed to layer.
Catch it on sale and score the best on the market. Marmot makes it right again.

I picked this up at a pre holiday sale for an amazing Final Sale price, which probably pushed it to 5 stars from 4. Very warm puffy. Full featured, baffles stuffed with 700 power rating down. Can cinch sleeves and waste. It is heavier and bulkier than some of the mid layer type 800 downs I often hike with, but I think it is a great outer layer jacket, one of my warmest. Little bulky to put a rain shell over though, and only water resistant, not water proof, so going to try and avoid the wet stuff with it. Like it so much, I bought a second one in another color combo. It is compressable and packable, but there are lighter, more compressable options. One of the warmest though. Great around the camp site and around town.

Great warm jacket for those sub zero morning dog walks. Large hood fits over ski helmet, looking forward to a 20 below day to test on the ski slopes.

well made and warm, full down jacket, it hasn't been really cold yet but it is much thicker down than my old mamot jacket

This jacket is so warm and the fit is perfect for me. I'm 6'5 and the length in the sleeves and body were long enough in size XL.

High quality, warm, good stitching, lofty, and durable but still comfortable. I would purchase another once this one wears out - although that might be a while. The 700 down fill seems to loft up nicely. However, I'd note that the loft increased substantially a few days after I took it out of the package it arrived in - so you might want to let it sit uncompressed for a few days to maximize loft/warmth.

This guides down hoody kept me perfectly warm in late fall cold weather in Iceland. Temp was 38-59F every day for 2 weeks. I had a regular long sleeve underneath and was perfectly comfortable outside for hours. I spent hours hiking while carrying 10 lbs of photography gear in the back and felt very comfortable & warm. The front pocket kept my phone dry under light/medium rain conditions. I also received many compliments about the color combo. Thanks Marmot!

I've put this jacket through a lot! It's been stuffed in my pack hundreds of times, slept in, kicked around in WFR re-certs, worn by clients at camps and belays, climbed in, skied in, snowmobiled in, digging out cars buried in snow, hundreds of dog walks & in many mountain bars. It's still functioning every time I need it. It's earned a few small patches & never lets me down. I keep thinking of ordering a new one, but this one is still doing it's thing! Buy with confidence!

Great jacket. Very well made and fits toward the athletic side but not too slim to be comfortable for a muscular guy.

I've owned numerous Guides Down jackets over the years and have always been a fan of their weight to warmth ratio and packability. This Jacket is well made and keeps me warm even in sun zero temps. My guides down is a must have in the backpack on any winter/fall and/or high elevation adventure. Thank you Marmot, keep up the good work!

for this price, the best jacket, everything is thought out in it, a large number of pockets, which is really convenient, a large comfortable hood, the length of the jacket is not bad, the quality is not bad, everything is very well sewn, high-quality ykk vislon locks, in use for 5 years, light weight, many puffs , everything is customizable, quality item, retro design, I like it.

Warm, functional, and stylish. People ask me for the name of this jacket all the time. It is a great piece of gear.

I can't see any reason why this jacket doesn't get 5 stars. It's comfy, it's warm and it has a hood. Have had 0 durability issues. Comparable jackets don't come at this price point, it's a great value.

Super satisfied with this purchase last winter. Extremely comfortable and looks great. I always like the velcro on the wrists to keep the sleeves in place on Marmot jackets. Enough with just a long sleeve underneath if it's in the 40s (F), and if below freezing I'll wear a fleece and/or a small puffy sweater under it and I'm toasty. I also like that I can tighten around the waist with the cinch pulls. Excellent jacket.

I'm 46 years old have had probably at least 10 different winter coats in my life. But this Men's Guides Down Hoody is by far the best, warmest, and softest coat I've ever owned. And at a very reasonable price!

At 3454 meters at the Top of Europe on Jungfraujoch where the temperature was -7.9C and wind speed of 200 km/h my Down Hoody performed better than expected. The jacket kept me warm enough to stay on the mountain and take photos.
It blocked the wind chill, it kept my body dry and warm in the midst of all the snow. What I really liked about the jacket was that it looked good and it was very comfortable and relatively light to wear. I had a middle layer, a Marmot fleece pullover that worked very well with the jacket. My movement was good, I did not feel restricted at all. The jacket arms moved very freely when I was reaching or stretching to take photos.
The only improvement I would recommend is too provide some reflective material on the jacket. With all that snow and wind it is hard to see. Reflective material will help in seeing the jacket better. Final word, this jacket is worth the money and does exactly what it is supposed to do. I am looking at getting my wife a hoody jacket.

Have been using this jacket for three years now and I can vouch for it. The features, cut, details, and overall quality of fabrics and design is very high. It is very lightweight, the hand pockets are soft and warm, and the hood fits over a helmet. I have used it for any cold weather activity from walking the dog to backcountry skiing.

This puffy is Warm and Comfy, if you are looking for a go to winter jacket this is the one. I wear mine anytime I step out my door and it's below freezing. Regardless of the temp, this jacket seems to keep me warm.

The men's Guides Down Hoody is an excellent coat. Not a Expedition or Denali jacket, but perfect for a packable backcountry skiing coat. The price is right. I bought it for a ski descent of the north side of Mt Shasta and for a light warm outer layer. Thank you Marmot for forty years of making great gear for my life in the mountains

I bought this in August as my everyday jacket for winter. I wear it around town, walk to work in it and as a photographer I've used it for some early morning shoots. It has kept me warm in as low as minus ten degrees without any huge amount of layering underneath. Below that you might want something a little beefier. I'd say Marmot is right on the money with this jacket.
