I just got my boots yesterday and I am so in love with them they fit my big calves, yea! After buying 5 pairs of Frye boots and sending 5 pair back I have finally found a pair that fits me perfectly. I have 15 3/4 inch calves I thought I was looking at the description of the boots circumference right but when the boots came in they were never the right circumference it said or so I thought. I even wrote Frye about it then Duh I saw what I was missing (I am a little slow sometimes), the circumference was for the certain size it mentioned in description. I was buying a pair that was a 16 inch circumference if I wore a 9 or up but since I wear a 7 1/2 my boot was always about a 15 circumference which was why it was too small. Having said all that, whew...I ordered the Jane 14 L Extended-17 inch circumference for a size 8 (and went up a half size and ordered the 8 instead of a 7 1/2 ) and, voila, they fit my calves with room to spare even fit over my skinny jeans and the half size difference didn't make the boots to big just roomy. I am so happy I love these boots and now want another pair in a different color. Thank you Frye & Zappos for the 17 inch circumference; it is great for us ladies with bigger calves. Ladies out there that need your boots to stretch just a little about a 1/2 inch or so, I have found out how to do it experimenting on an old pair of boots, mix about 3 parts rubbing alcohol to 1 part water and use a spray bottle to spray on leather boots (I sprayed the inside of calf) spray down good and put the boot on and they will stretch to the size of your legs. If you can't get them all the way up just a very little bit, pull them up a little more on your legs while they are still wet and wear around in house till they dry. It worked for some old boots someone gave me that I could not wear. Good luck and I highly recommend these boots they were comfortable right out of the box. Zappos we need more wide calf boots to choose from, please.

I LOVE these boots. I cannot get the right boot on my foot. I have high arches and I cannot slip my foot into it at all. My heel gets stuck at the back side and will not go in AT ALL. I want to cry and throw myself on the ground, but I am reluctantly having to return them. I ordered an 8 and when my left foot made it in, the fit was perfect. I am afraid to order larger because then once I do get past the arch, I'm afraid the foot bed would be too big. So sad...such a beautiful boot.

Absolutely love these boots, but they just don't fit my calves. I carefully measured my athletic calves and it was an exact fit. However, the shaft circumference measurement must be the outside of the boot versus the inside of the boot. The 1/2 inch made the difference of fitting and not fitting for me.

These are AMAZING! I am so happy that Frye has extended calf sizes now. I've been wanting a pair for years, but the shaft of the regular boots is way to narrow for me. My usual 6.5 was already sold out, so I ordered a 7 since if anything I can go a little up with shoes (never down). Then, after I read the reviews about them running large, I went back and ordered the 6. I am so glad I did because these fit perfectly. They definitely run about a half size large.

So sad and what a beautiful boot and I felt so confident that it would fit my 16" calf because it is supposed to be 17" circumference and I read the reviews before making my decision. The boots do not fit and they only measure 16 for a size 8 so must return. :(

I was so excited to get these boots! They just arrived today. I have small feet, short legs, and big (16+") calves. I have really wanted a pair of Frye boots for a long time - but I am not sure these will work out at all! I would love to see about getting them custom made...I just need about a 1/2" more in the calf and then I could even wear leggings underneath! Has anyone had them for a while? Do they stretch out? Grrr...so frustrating!

These boots are so beautiful, and high quality. But they are still too narrow! I am 5'3, a size 12, and a runner-- and my calves just don't fit in them. I am so disappointed!

This is a beautiful pair of boots! I have the Frye Veronica Short in a 9½ but ordered these in a 10 since I usually can wear both. Reviews said they run small, and this style is more narrow/dressy than the Veronica Short, so I got the 10. My foot slipped right in like butter, and had the right amount of heel slippage (See Frye website, a little heel slip is normal.) I was expecting them to be hard to get on and off, but they pull on so easy. I can wear these with socks and they are very comfortable. As far as calf fit, I have athletic muscular calves (not skinny, though!) and the extended calf leaves room for jeans. My calfs are about 15", and these boots allow for plenty of room and slouch just a bit, which I like. I think I can fit a finger or two in there but they are not too baggy or too tight. I think with the calf measurements you have to keep in mind, the measurement listed is based off of one size shoe. The bigger size you wear, the calf circumference goes up from there. (Or down if you have smaller feet.) I probably could wear the non extended calf version but with the extended, I can wear jeans and socks with plenty of room. Zappos always has fast shipping and easy returns, so if you are in doubt, just get them and try them on at home. You can always return them or sxchange them and the tunraround time is so short. Zappos makes it easy!

I love these boots. They are really comfortable even though the soles are hard because provide a ton of support. They're wear-them-for-all-day-excursions type comfortable! My first reaction to the boot was that they were a half-size too small, but after wearing them once, they broke-in beautifully and recommend getting your normal size. I have average-sized calves (a.k.a calves that severely limit my boot selection) The shaft fits my leg perfectly, even with jeans tucked inside.

You ladies with bigger calves can feel my pain! I was trilled to find the Zappos.com box at my door and even happier that I could get the boots over my 16½" calves (I ordered an 8½ boot). The trouble I have is that they fit the calves, but were too baggy on the lower calf and ankle area. This made them look sloppy and uncomfortable. I will order another pair of Fryes and pray they work. Zappos.com is great and I will order from them every time! (Even the people at the UPS store love them!)

WOW. I love these boots and i get a ton of compliments. I have wide calves due to rec sports and I am short. It is next to impossible to find boots that fit and look good. These are it! I did take my boots to a local cobbler to stretch the top and it did the trick. The leather softens and feels great. I wear knee socks underneath and the slip on well. I normally wear a size 8 shoe, due to my arch, I had a hard time slipping the size 8 boot on, after reading other reviews, I exchanged for an 8 1/2 and they fit great.

I just got these boots last night and they are absolutely beautiful. The quality is superb! Excellent leather inside and outside. I love that these boots are leather lined. I had been wanting a good quality pair of boots for years but had never found this kind of quality at regular shoe stores. Most stores have manmade boots or some leather uppers with synthetic lining and to top it off they do not have wide calf boots. These boots are not only excellent quality but they also fit my wide calves. I did find that they run about two sizes small. I wear a 9 and I ordered a 9½ to allow for socks, however, when I tried them on the calf did not fit right so I ordered a 10 and they fit better but still felt tight on the calf and were somewhat difficult to put on and take off so ordered a size 11 and voilà! They fit perfectly. They are easy to put on and take off and they are very comfortable with socks on. So ladies if the boots did not fit before on your calves or you felt you could not even get them on try ordering two sizes up and you will not be disappointed. These boots are a bit expensive but worth every penny especially if you compare prices with boots of lesser quality then you actually feel you are paying a fair price. This is the first time that I have ordered from Zappos and their deliveries are supper fast. I love the fact that they actually have Real free returns. They offer free shipping and actually pay for return shipping. This alone is a good reason to order from them. I think I will become a regular shopper at Zappos.

Ordered these based on reviews and measurements given. I also ordered the regular calf size of the Jane boots, just in case. For the pairs I received, they both had the same calf width. I measured. Although the extended calf was absolutely marked with an "E" on the inside of the shaft. So, I don't know, maybe I got a dud. Regardless, both pairs are going back.

These are another great Frye boot - really stylish and very comfortable. They goes well with jeans or dresses. I have 16" calfs and these fit great - even wearing them over pants. I absolutely love them!

I just bought these boots and am thrilled with the style. I do not have wide calfs, but they look great on average sized calfs, too. I love the fact that the ankle and upper is styled wide. That is very reminiscent of a more high fashion style and not as typical as most black leather knee high boots. The leather quality looks great and I look forward to many years of wear.

Love these boots. They're just gorgeous. I have average calves...but ever since I started occasionally jogging, none of the frye tall boots fit me. they're all just a tiny bit too tight. I could try to have them stretched, but when you're paying $400 for a boot, you expect not to have to do that, not to mention the fear that it wont work. I wear a size 8, and have 15" calves, but they were all too tight. These aren't. They're beautiful, and I can wear them over jeans. they are both dressy because of the heel and thick, glossy leather, and casual with jeans. I have the dark brown.

These are beautiful! The reddish brown color is so lovely and goes with everything! The heel is the perfect height and has a little bit of a country feel. Love them!

These boots are stunning. Absolutely beautiful. But there is no way the circumference is accurate. The size 5 much have a much smaller circumference, because I couldn't get them over my calves, and I know my measurements. So sad because these boots are beautiful!

I have been looking for a new boot to fall in love with and I'm happy to say I finally found it. These are gorgeous and incredibly comfortable. I've had these for a little over a week and I've planned all my outfits around these boots so I can wear them every day. I even wear them around the house in my bathrobe. These have a great look, you can either dress them up or down. I bought a half size down and they stretched a bit and formed well to my feet. Love them.

Wonderful boots, I have athletic calves and have always had a hard time finding boots that would fit. They slid right on and looked great! I always get compliments on them.

I couldn't be happier with these boots! I am 5'-8" with 16" calves (sometimes a little bigger or smaller depending on the day!) I am typically a size 9 and these fit perfectly, I have plenty of room for skinny jeans too. I prefer my boots to be a little bigger (if i have to cram my jeans in they're not working) and these give me a little extra room. You know, so I can pretend I have petite calves. :) If I could change anything I'd make them just a little taller but I'd still buy them again in a heartbeat. I adore Frye's consistent high quality and timeless style, I'm sure I'll have these for a long time!

These are the first pair of boots that fit me. I love them and can wear them all day. So comfortable! They are easy to slip on and are perfect to wear with my jeans on. Love!

This boot is exactly what I have been looking for. The price stings a bit but when you consider the reputation of Frye boots and the well made construction its a little easier to swallow. When the boot arrived the price was validated. The boot itself is beautiful; color and seams all crafted perfectly. The boot is extremely comfortable as the heel is just enough to give you some height without being uncomfortable for hours of wear. My calves are larger and these boots provide enough room to go over my jeans without being too tight. I am genuinely impressed and haven't thought about the price since receiving them. I can tell over time the color will get even better as a little wear and tear will give them more character.
