This is my second pair of Salomons in nearly 5 years. If that alone doesn't speak to their durability and superior quality, I don't know what does. I wore my xa pro 3D ultras into the ground so I had to move on to a new pair, and decided to go with the Eskape for a few reasons; first of which was financial. I simply couldn't afford the newest pair of the xa pro 3D ultras this time around but but knew with a brand like Salomon, quality would not fall as the price does. The first thing I noticed about these was the traditional lacing system, as opposed to the quick lace on their higher end models. The quick lace to me was both a plus and a negative. I liked how quickly I could lace up and go but on the flip side, it tended to be a bit constricting and slightly painful at times. With the Eskapes, my feet feel a bit more free and mobile. The Eskapes also have the very comfy ortholite insoles, durable (and waterproof if you opt for the Gore Tex like I did) outer construction and tons of traction. Another bonus for me in regards to the eskape is their more "all around, do-it-all" look whereas in the xa pro 3Ds, people always asked me, "you goin' mountaineering later today?" All in all, I am very pleased with the Salomon Eskapes so far. I'll be able to put them to the test soon with some fall camping and hiking. Thank you Salomon and thank you Zappos. I saw a few users had sizing issues, especially in the 10.5s, which is what I wear, and mine fit perfectly.

Overall, a really good shoe. I prefer the conventional lacing system with these to other Salomon shoes with the quick lace system that I've owned before. These are stiff enough to handle some pretty rugged trails without killing your feet, but don't feel clunky or heavy. The GTX membrane is obviously going to be warmer than lighter weight mesh shoes, but I prefer it; not just for keeping out water, but also for keeping out fine dirt and dust which I find can chafe the skin on my feet on longer hikes. They're certainly not the most stylish shoes I've ever owned, but are generally good looking. If you're looking for a great shoe for day hikes, light-weight overnighters, or just beating around town, this is an excellent option.

I am a bit overweight and was looking for a shoe that was comfortable as well as suitable for light hiking and a wet environment. This shoe fits the bill 100%. I have a higher then normal arch and found that I did not have to put in additional arch support like I usually have to do. The shoe felt very secure and comfortable and kept my feet dry in the rainy weather and in the zodiac boats. I tried a pair on locally but it was not available in my size. I needed it ASAP as we were leaving town in less than a week. When I called Zappos customer service was extremely nice and helpful He was able to get the shoes to me in time and without a lot of extra cost!

I've been having a really hard time recently in finding a good pair of shoes. Keens are too bulky in the toe area for me, Adiddas that I bought came with a defect in the tongue, Teva mid tops were excellent but again had some sort of defect in the lining in one of the shoes, and man, I was getting tired of buying and returning. These shoes, however, have been great right out of the box. Plus, they come with an insole that I actually like. Granted, they are a bit goofy looking but for the price, I'm satisfied.

I have only had the shoes about 2 weeks; however, they feel as expected. I have another pair of Salomon hiking boots so I was able to get the same size in these. The fit was the same. Love the looks. Shoes will take some wearing to get them broken in which is expected. Shipping was fast and delivered on the scheduled day. Zappos discount was a plus!

These run half a size too small. Had to return them. What a shame.
These are the best technical low tops on the market. The description doesn't have this but there is some kimd of strong shank because it does not flex like most low tops, meaning these are really technical shoes. The Contigrip rubber feels like car tires and is vastly superior to Vibram which suffers tremendously on icy and wet manmade or smooth surfaces. Contigrip is superior in ever way I can see to Vibram, which is hyped and over rated.
These are my favorite low top trail runners of all time and my second favorite shoes of all time.
I backpack bikepack and mountian bike.

What a fabulous shoe! My two previous shoes were Salomon Pro 3D Ultra. I like these a lot better. I prefer the traditional lacing system...these are really comfortable. Great looking. They look more like sneakers than the 3D Ultra. Same great performance as the 3D Ultra, too.

The Salomon Eskape GTX is the best choice for a disc golf shoe that I've had the pleasure (or not) to try yet. The grip is exceptional on all surfaces without being sticky on concrete. Very comfortable boot with the slight exception of being the slightest bit too narrow for my taste. I'm sure with wear the feel of the width will improve. Haven't had the opportunity to really put the goretex to the test, so I can't speak with 100% confidence, but in light use so far the waterproofing has proved effective. Very nice shoe, very nice look. 10/10, would recommend.

These are great shoes- I am on my second pair! The Gore-Tex has never failed me in the mud or rain. The outsoles have excellent grip on a variety of surfaces. The shoes are worth the price as the workmanship is excellent with no part of the shoe failing prematurely.

These are my new favorite sneakers. I bought them for trail running, but also have used on treadmills when traveling. Sturdy, comfortable and very well made. The true test will be in winter when snow and mud make the trails more fun, but I'm sure they'll handle it. (And, of course, Zappos ordering-shipping was superb!)

Great Shoe! First pair purchased whereas I normally wear Keen. Not quite as wide as Keen, so Salomon should offer a wide, especially for winter wearers like me. But the size is true for my 13 normal foot size (I like wides to wear thicker socks). The footbed isn't too narrow like many running shoes. Well done!

Great shoe, I have had a Salomon pro x 3d version with the quick lace, but this Eskape gtx has the traditional lace which IMO is better. Overall the show is lighter, more comfortable and does not require the same kind of break in period as the aforementioned model. I use these shoes through winter snow, hiking and everyday use.

So far they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever bought. I'm even thinking of buying another pair to put in the closet so when these wear out I don't have to worry about finding they don't make them any more!

I was looking for a shoe that provided comfort and durability during a month long adventure in Europe - lots of walking. The Salomon Eskape GTX was all that I had hoped for.

Great shoes. I just came back from a hiking trip where I wore the shoes daily and encountered no problem with them. Great grip, and water resistant; kept my foot dry and warm.

A great multipurpose shoe. This Salomon Eskape shoe fits true to size, and conforms well to your feet. The rubber sole has some cushion and tons of traction. They are sharp looking too. The heel is not so high as other boots, so it is more like my Brooks running shoes. All in all, this is a lightweight, comfortable, good-fitting shoe. And it is waterproof 'to boot'.

It is a solid and really well made shoe. I have been looking for something without arch support and this has it. Great shoe!

I coach track in Northeast Ohio. Every Spring I run through a checklist in my head: shorts, t-shirts, sweatpants, parka, gloves, hat, thermal socks, rain gear, and waterproof footwear. This year I chose the Salomon Eskape GTX and three weeks into the season have no complaints. Very sturdy sole, solid body, wide toe box, nice lacing pattern, especially at the toes. Above average appearance.

I got these for a trip to Europe, expecting lots of rainy, city walking. I have had 4-5 pairs of Salomon always 10.5, but these were too small. The Gore-Tex liner takes a lot of space, so I would suggest going up 1/2 size. I never ended up taking them with me.

Have owned 4-5 pairs of Salomon shoes in the past 5 years and always wear a 10.5. These ones are much tighter and bulky looking due to the Gore-Tex membrane, I would suggest going up 1/2 size.

I needed a waterproof sneaker and thought I would give these a try. I normally wear a size 10, however they were really uncomfortable on the top of my foot. I tried a 10.5, but they were the same so I returned those as well. I really liked the design, but not comfortable at all.

This is the first pair of Salomon shoes that I am not delighted with. I own 5 pairs. The last eyelet on the right shoe lies on top of the bone on my big toe and makes it very sore. Cannot wear them more than an hour every other day. Will keep trying to break them in but I have a feeling that they will be finding a new home.

Was really excited to try and wear this shoe little did I know in slippery weather this show is not living up to expectations, it also tracks snow and water very heavily. I think it was only a small deal at first but it was more common as the time went on.

I wrote my first review on this shoe in March of 2016. At that time, all was well. I am sad to report that by September the waterproofing failed. I loved everything about this shoe up to that dewy fall morning when I ended up with soaking wet shoes, socks and feet. Of course, Zappos was awesome in taking them back and I have moved on to something else.

Salomon makes some of the most stylish quality made athletic shoes I can find. But they have two major problems... 1) They are all extremely narrow, and 2) they are not shaped for the human foot. Who's foot/toes comes to an extremely narrow centered point?!
