Let me begin by saying that I use these shoes for lifting weights and lifting weights only. But I do love them! Plenty of room in the toe box with a considerably slimmer mid-foot and heel surface area, as is a normal foot shape. This definitely makes for a snug fit but that is a good thing, especially in a minimalist shoe that you are wearing while exercising. Just the right amount of arch support, respecting both the barefoot feel and the requirements of a training shoe. The sole is durable while still letting my foot feel close to the ground, which is perhaps my favorite part. When working with heavy weights like on squats and deadlifts I can really get my foot flat on the ground and push through my heels. No comment on any performance while running or during any sort of agility training.

I have worn New Balance shoes for years. These are tight. This is the first time that I have ever purchased anything from New Balance that was so tight.

Solid shoe that is light as a feather. Like this so much more than those "footgloves" that I see sporting about. Actually has some style to it. I use for cross training. Mainly gym with occasional short runs and sprints. It has the traditional NB wideness to it, but a pair of thick Feetures took care of the loose feel. Compared to the Nike Free Shields, there is much more room for the ball of the foot and toes and they do not smell like a litter box after training! (I swear it's not me!) Couldn't be happier!

I bought these shoes for crossfit after searching for months for the right combination of fit, support, minimal heel-toe drop and light weight. They fit my size 12.5 narrow high arched foot incredibly well and keep me stable working out all while being light weight. Most other New Balance minimal offerings were designed with heel outsoles that rolled off too much. These provide a nice stable platform for lifting. New Balance nailed the cross trainer with this one! A top competitor right next to the inov8 f-lite 252 and the Reebok nano.

These are terrific shoes for cross-training in the gym and short runs. NB has other minimal shoes designed for longer runs.
I'd never worn a minimalist design before so it took about 20 minutes to get accustomed, and then they felt better in the gym than anything else I've worn. The insole itself has no arch support, but the tailoring of the upper around the arch is such that I feel a certain amount of arch support.
Sizing notes: I bought both my usual NB running shoe size (w/mid-weight socks) and the next size larger so I could compare and keep the right size. The same size I wear in running shoes fit perfectly when I put on the MX20 without socks. So size up if you plan to wear socks, but the minimalist quality will be diminished.

At first I loved these. I've been wearing the NB Minimus 10s for years now as a daily shoe. When I couldn't find a style I liked in the 10s I decided to try the 20s. Trying them on around the house I loved them. Wearing them out in the world was another story. There's some cushion in the insole that winds up putting pressure on a weird part of my foot. I didn't notice it until I'd been wearing them for an hour or so and on my feet a lot. The insole on the 10s is much more firm and doesn't have this problem.

Wide width and light with a hint of a heel lift which I prefer. Kind of a nice barefoot shell for running in. Not heavy duty and a bit thin for cold weather days.

I actually bought these for our college aged son for the gym. He wanted a pair of shoes that he could lift in. He loves these shoes. I cannot tell you how they will last because we just bought them but so far so good.

I was looking for a thin flat soled shoe for weightlifting and the have been perfect. They fit great and look great. I have wider feet and sometimes have issues with shoes but these are perfect. Very close in width to other size 13 NB shoes I've owned in the past.

I bought three pairs of Natural Balance tennis shoes for my employees here at my bed and breakfast in Merida in the Yucatan in Mexico. Pedro, Alberto and Pablo, all delightful Mayan guys, assure me that it is like walking on air when one wears these shoes. I just wish that Zappos could figure out how to use that fabled North American Free Trade Agreement to send shoes to Mexico.

I'm very happy with this shoe. I purchased the 2E width. I have very wide feet and usually have to wear 4E width but a co-worker told me that with time these stretch quite a bit to accommodate wider feet and so far I've been very happy with them. They are very comfortable to run in and provide just the right amount of support. I usually wear fivefingers when I am active but these are great in the winter, when running on concrete, and when I don't want to look like an oddball in public!

This is a unique and wonderful feeling sneaker. Super, super light. Very minimal sole; you feel close to the ground, in a good way. My feet run a bit wide near the toes and I was concerned these sneakers might be narrow there, as some pairs are on me. But this one fit fine. I tried on the same pair in EE width and it was too wide so I got the regular width. It is an extremely comfortable sneaker. And it looks very sharp too.

I have special athletic shoe needs for balance while walking. There is a tendency for me to try to grab the ground with my feet due to spinal cord surgery. These shoes allow me to feel the ground when I walk. They are extremely light in weight which helps a lot. They also have a wide toe box which suits me. After reading reviews, I ordered the next size larger and they fit me perfectly. The shoe is so good, I ordered another pair as a spare.

I was looking for replacement shoes for kung fu classes. I tried several wrestling shoes, but the arch/midfoot was too tight and they seemed cheap for the prices. I tried these on a whim - and they are great. I normally order size 11 shoes, but these were too big. I ordered 10.5 instead, and they were just right. However, I did some practice/drills and they were too big for my need, so I ordered size 10 (a whole size less) - perfect for classes. I like that these are a flat sole, little if any arch support, and great flexibility, feel, and stability. They have some cushioning, much like a wrestling shoe. I have done some workouts and kb work with them and they are great. To sum up: order 1/2 size smaller for general use, and a whole size for a more snug fit for martial arts/crossfit type training so they don't slide around.

I bought these shoes to wear during CrossFit workouts. I'm really happy with them during most of the activities, especially squatting. In my other shoes, just standard running shoes, I found that after a squat-heavy WOD, the outer sides of my feet were in considerable pain. I don't have that with these shoes. I bought my usual size for New Balance. They fit perfect barefoot, as they're intended to be worn. If you want to wear socks, probably a good idea to step up 1/2 size. They felt too snug in even the lightest sock I tried. I actually like them without socks though. I'm about 5 weeks in and no smell either :) As for running, if we're just doing a light run as a warmup, 400m or less, I'll wear these. I've found that for longer running, when I'm fatigued, I just need more support, so I keep my running shoes on-hand for those WODs.

Excellent shoe for crosstraining and weightlifting. Super light. Good-looking minimalist training shoe. Nice wide toe box and minimal heel toe drop make it a great shoe for both squats and deadlifts. Decent for running short distances, not a soft ride on pavement.

I absolutely love these shoes. They're great for their intended purpose -- cross-training. Just enough cushion for running, but flat enough for lifting weights and doing core exercises. I think I'm on my 4th or 5th pair. This is a great gym shoe for most. I tried some Nike's, but there just wasn't enough lateral stability for how I use them. If you're into core exercises, this is likely the shoe to beat.

I wanted a flat, low-profile, light and good-fitting shoe for kung fu class and workouts. I have tried many others, but often the sole is too thick or too squishy. I tried a few types of wrestling shoes and they weren't quite right, and pricy. These NB's are great feeling shoes, very light, very breathable, and the sole feels flat. The bottom has a grippy rubber Vibram sole. I tested them out for a workout the other day, and they were great for various calisthenics exercises, weights, and kettlebell work. Usually I prefer being barefoot with kb training, but these are flat enough to work well. The fit around the foot is very good, there is plenty of toebox room, but I had to return my size 11 and order 10.5. That fits just right. There is very little arch support, but if you want a shoe for martial arts, workouts/crossfit/kb training, something to feel the ground better, these are great shoes.

I was looking for minimalist shoes for weight-lifting and I have very wide feet. I usually take 4E shoes which really limits my choices. I gave these New Balance shoes a try and liked them so much I bought a second pair. These shoes are wonderfully comfortable. At first try they felt a bit tight but I made some slight adjustments to the laces and now they fit perfectly. The arch support was exactly where I needed it and there was plenty of room in the toebox and ball of the foot. These shoes are lightweight; I think that I've had socks that were heavier but the soles are very supportive without being squishy. I've been using them for weightlifting, as intended, but also for walking around. I've had them out on hard surfaces walking moderate distances and up and down stairs with no discomfort. In fact, these are some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. To sum up, if you have wide feet and are looking for lightweight and minimal heel drop in a shoe, these are ideal.

Fits like a glove, perfect fit at size 9. Really good grip when training at the gym. I wouldn't recommend these for running. But overall I am impressed.

I have wide feet, EEE! Trying and find an athletic shoe for feet made for swimming? These are they. The lightweight design holds the foot well and weighs next to nothing. I am on my second pair in 3 years. Good wear. Cloth sheathing finally took too much rubbing on the console of my truck. The Vibram sole is also a very big plus for me. I tend to step on things that would slice a normal sole. This is a nice shoe! I actually have 2 pairs hidden away, so that I can have a pair forever. I have given this shoe to people I care about, need I say more?

These shoes are awesome! Lightweight, my feet stay cool, and very comfortable. It did take a minute to get use to the arch support but its great for me.
