NYDJ leggings from a few years ago were amazing. They fit like a glove, did not stretch out in a size 4. These, in size 2, are absolutely baggy. I actually have two pairs because the size 4 grew to a laughable size over the course of a day. I cannot even call them slim leg given how much they stretch out. NYDJ's fabric quality has been in a downhill slide. Bring back the glory days. In case NYDJ is listening, I think they were Janice leggings; my only beef with those are the lack of pockets. Summary: the fabric keeps getting worse, and the vanity sizing is now off the charts (quite literally as a size 0 is too large!) I have not yet found a replacement brand. But Levi's 512s are not too bad.

Am only in my 30s so was not sure about ordering something called "Not Your Daughter's Jeans"- seemed more for someone my mom's age. But had 2 babies in the last 3 years and am not quite as toned and thin as I used to be. I'm 5'4", 142 lbs, apple-shaped. These fit GREAT in a size 8- the length was good for me, perhaps a tiny bit long but they are cute rolled and I found them thin enough to tuck into low boots. They are very slim fitting but not skin tight, which I like. The higher rise is wonderful for a post-pregnancy body and the denim is so much more substantial than the thin stuff that passes for designer denim in many stores. They are really cute and incredibly comfortable. Dark wash is attractive. I LOVE these jeans. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE.

These jeans are great - my first pair of skinnies. They are flattering and comfortable. At 5'9" and 150 lb, the size 8 fits well.

Not a legging, just a skinny jean, but nice fit. Not skinny enough to tuck in a low boot (not tight over calf). VERY comfortable. Due to the high rise (waist-height), they don't fall down over the hips like so many jeans do. It's one reason they are so comfy. Runs large -- I can't find an NYDJ that is snug enough for me, because I'm a 0, and their 0 fits like a 2 or 4. Still, love this jean!

This is the only brand I can wear (or will wear; once I figured out they worked, I stopped the forever search for jeans/pants for my post-m body). That's despite all the things people note about the variable sizing and descriptions that don't quite match the reality. This style, Alina, is called a legging, for instance. Twice now I have found that what NYDJ calls a legging is more like a skinny jean; i.e., the calves are loose enough that they don't cling there (that's good) but you can't really put them inside a boot. Of my most recent round of try-ons with Zappos to see what the best option for me is, these won hands-down. I am 5'8" with a wide waistline these days, weigh 168 and though I generally wear a 10, these were perfect in 12. The only surprise is that the fabric was thinner than I had hoped. So 4 stars for the "legging" description and the fabric. Keeping them nonetheless. Done with jeans shopping for the year!

Love the way these fit. 5'6 and 195lbs, the 14 fits like a glove.

These are great jeans with lots of stretch. I am 5' 9" and 145 pounds and the size 10 fit me well. The 31" inseam is perfect on me. I like these better than the traditional NYDJ jeans as they are made of a lighter material and fit more smoothly. Only quarrel I have is that they are big in the waist on me. I am very hourglass (38/28/40) in the figure and most jeans are cut straight up and down. But that may just be me. Otherwise thumbs up on these.

LOVE LOVE LOVE these jeans. Not supper skinny (as you might expect for a "legging"), but NYDJ jeans never are skinny. I was looking for a straight cut slim (but not skinny) jean, and I found it. I'm 5'5" and weigh 125-130 and a size 2 is perfect. Nice dark wash. great fit.

Just got these in the Hollywood wash -- love everything about them. The higher rise is very comfortable and holds the tummy in nicely. They're a bit long on me -- I'm 5'3" and weigh 116 -- but I sew and will hem them. I got a size 2 and it worked well for me. Really like the feel of the fabric -- wish they'd have made them in white for the summer. I just ordered two more pairs in different colors.

These are nice, stretchy pants. I bought them in anticipation of colder days, sweaters and snow. I am 139 pounds, 5ft'5' tall and size 2 fits nice and snug.

I love these pants. I would definitely say they are not leggings in the traditional sense, but more of a skinny cut jean. Although I take a size 0 in this brand, I have larger calves and ankles which makes finding skinny jeans that fit this area very difficult. This fit is just perfect for me and I plan to buy other colors.

I didn't want ankle pants, but I am short, so I took a chance on ordering the petite. Length on me was perfect.

I have several pairs of Alina leggings. These may say legging no but fit more like a straight style of jeans on me which is what I want. Like a previous reviewer mentioned the darker colors seem to run smaller. But the fit is outstanding. Sooo comfortable.

Just bought these. Perfect for me. 5 stars. I have a long rise, narrow hips and a bit of a "retirement belly". Love them. This is my 1st pair of nydj!

These jeans are great. I do agree with the other reviews, they are not leggings. They are skinny jeans. They also run big. Ive been a 6 Or 4 in most NYDJ. never a 2, but thats what works for me. thanks to other reviewers, i chose a size smaller!

Love these jeans. They fit me well and even though this is called a legging, it's not really legging-ish. They don't grab my legs like normal leggings do. It's more like a skinny jean and even then it's not too tight. I have more of a muscular build in my calves and thighs, so I don't like the look of most leggings on me. These I don't mind at all. I love these so much I ordered another pair. And the color is perfect...a slight fade but still dark.

I love these jeans. For my not so youthful figure they work perfect. They have a really good fit, good fabric, they stay put, and do not slip down at the waist.

I still have extra baby weight on and so these jeans helped to hide those extra pounds. They are very comfortable and the high waist helps to hide my belly. Overall, they are pretty stylish. They are wider at the bottom than I would like though.

These have become my go-to jeans. They are super comfortable for weekends and casual wear, but also dark enough to wear at work with a dressier top and heels. They do run large - but I do not mind seeing a smaller size number on the tag. I like them so much that I just ordered a second pair! I live in Hawaii and so I like that the fabric is not as stiff and heavy as some jeans. These jeans work well in our tropical climate, but were also perfect on a recent trip to California.

These are a great compromise between skinnies and leggings for those of us who have muscular thighs or calves. Often, I have tried skinny jeans that are just too tight in the thigh area, but then they are way too big around the lower legs, ruining the effect of the tightness/look. I sized down two sizes because although these jeans are compressive and slimming, they do stretch out and run a bit larger to begin with. I normally size down once with jeans that have a lot of spandex or lycra, but with NYDJ I sized down twice and was happy with the fit. I was still able to get them on, zip and button them but they did not stretch out during the day. These do not have a comically, mom-jean high rise, they are mid to high, which means they do not slide down or create any kind of break or muffin top around the hip and waist area. Nice! And the wash is not cheesy or cheap looking. They look nearly identical to some jeans I paid nearly a lot more for and they are more comfortable. I think if you follow the manufacturer's instructions and size down (at least) one size, you should not have the stretching out that people are talking about, here.
