Okay folks, unlike many of the other reviewers I am very new to running. I'm 43 and never liked running so never did. This past Thanksgiving I decided to get out and walk 3 miles every day and try to get used to "light" running. I now really enjoy my walk/runs, on average 5 times a week. I've also learned the benefits of a very good sneaker as I had bad shin splints in the beginning. I have been running in New Balance since December. Last week I started feeling the tingling in my shins so decided I'm due for a new pair. Based on the reviews of this shoe, I decided to pony up the money that I would not normally spend on a pair of sneakers and bought them. First of all, I ordered my regular size, 9.5 and they fit perfectly. I put my custom insoles in and they felt terrific. Good support, super light, roomy in the toes so no complaints. After reading the running tips that came with the shoe, I went out and as I was approaching my first mile mark, still feeling great, no fatigue or pains in my shins which were beginning again last week, I kept on going. Usually, if I can go a solid mile, I feel very happy with that, but have to walk to rest my shins and ankles and catch my breath, etc. But I kept on going and after mile 2 without stopping, I realized that I had not one bit of fatigue or discomfort anywhere. After running, non-stop the whole 3 mile loop, I was ecstatic! I have to say, the running tips that came with the shoes were just as important for me as the shoes themselves. Based on the other reviews I was really set on taking my time, breaking them in and getting used to the "lugs" over the next couple weeks. Not needed. Love these shoes and now I love running.

All these great reviews made me cynical and suspicious, so I bought a pair. I am 50, been running since I was 15. I've always worn Nikes and Saucony's, with orthotics. At first these shoes felt...weird. Like running on compressed cardboard. I didn't like them. A couple times I almost turned around. Ultimately I ran 6 miles instead of my usual 5. The secret? All my life I had been striking from the heel, which these shoes prevent. After a week of adjusting to these shoes, (sore achilles tendons and numbness at the balls of my feet), I realize these shoes force me to run a much more efficient mid-foot strike. But they do take some getting used to!

I am 60 yrs old and been jogging for 30 yrs. I am female and do triathlons and 1/2 marathons -6 this year and a marathon in Hawaii! I almost stopped running because of hip pain increasing through the years. I am a fore foot runner and these shoes are light and the best for me! Took all my pain away! Never stop making them because I want to run forever!

Love my Newton running shoes! Not only are the colors screaming take me for a run! But the balance they give you while running is amazing. Extra cushion on the soles of the shoe. Love the material because they are easy to clean by hand or in the washer. I accidentally took them ATVing and was forced to wear them as I didn't have another. They sure got muddy, but I was able to get them spot clean with a rag and warm water. I highly recommend these shoes!

A good lightweight running shoe for people who have a normal (read NORMAL) foot strike. If you overpronate or supinate a lot, these shoes may get you in trouble. I slightly overpronate and you can put orthotics or inserts in these shoes according to their website. My calf muscles are sometimes so tight that it feels like I'm getting a stress fracture. Other times, I have really good runs. Probably just a matter of SLOWLY adjusting to shoe.

My first Newton shoes and I truly enjoy them. Use these shoes several times a week for running and walking and find them extremely comfortable. No break-in time! Another bonus is the mesh fabric that makes them great for FL weather.

Zappos has the BEST customer service ever. Newton shoes are so amazing that I don't like to wear any other brand of running shoes. They are extremely durable, light weight, and comfortable. They make running fun to me.

I bought these to run my first 10K, the Crescent City Classic in the spring. I don't know much about running shoe brands but read the reviews. I ran a few short jogs in this before the race and I they did not hurt when I ran the Classic. Overall, I'm very satisfied and will buy again when I need another pair!

When it comes to running, I wouldn't wear any other shoe. The cushion on the forefoot is a blessing. Love my Newtons.

Love these shoes. The fit, the style, and the color are all great. I had to order 1/2 size up and they are perfect. My feet are normal width but due tend to lean more towards the wider side than the narrow one; these are so roomy and comfortable I want to wear them all the time.

I love Newtons but this was the most ghetto delivery I have ever seen. There was no packaging whatsoever and makes me wonder if they are actually Newtons. Weird Zappos.

Running on air! I am on my second pair of Distance U's. I got started in the Newton Gravity's after having knee and hip pain in the Nike Lunarglides. I wanted a bit more stability for running the hills of San Francisco and once I was used to the forefoot strike, I went for the lighter weight (Distance U). I have never looked back. The transition to these shoes was fast for me but I have a natural gait and forefoot strike anyway. I also run trail so take lots of little steps. That was a help in the transition. These are an awesome road training shoe (I have worn them for a single track trail race and they held up well) and I have certainly improved not only my enjoyment of road running but my race times.

I love these shoes. I picked up my first pair at my LRS for full price. Knew I had to get a couple more pairs for marathon training. I first ran in Newton a few years back (forgot the model name) with the goal of mid/forefoot striking and then I was hooked. I have a wide toe box and this was perfect width for me. My first pair wore out fairly fast but once I became more efficient with mid/forefoot striking, I wasn't wearing out the shoes quite as fast anymore. Colors are a bit wild for me but at least I can spot other runners with them on from far away!

I read every review I could get my hands on before I bought these shoes and from my experience they were accurate. These are super comfy and not what I expected from a "minimalist" shoe. I've always been a heel-striker when I run and I have to admit these shoes are changing that! These shoes live up to all the hype - buy them! Also note that these shoes are for neutral runners only.

Love Newtons. I have had several models and the Distance U is my favorite. All Newtons are spectacular running shoes. I used to run in Brooks and had knee pain after long runs. Since switching to Newtons, no more pain! There is a breaking in period. I do several short runs at first. You will most likely experience a tingling or numbness in your feet. For me, it stopped after about 18 total miles. They last me bout 450-500 miles. Worth the money!

These are great. I'm a beginner runner and Newtons were suggested for my style of running. They take some getting used to but they're great. Love the bright color too.

I love these shoes! I've been wearing other brands of "barefoot/minimum" soled shoes for several years. These shoes are so cute and comfortable. While they aren't as "barefoot" as my Vibram Five Finger, I don't hear, "hey, gorilla feet!" When I wear my Newton's, I hear, "wow, cute shoes, where did you get them?"

I'm a distance runner I LOVE them. After reading mixed reviews I decided to give them a shot. Better than expected, light, comfortable, supportive. May never wear anything else to be honest.

Love these Newtons. This is my second pair of Newtons and I probably will never buy any other brand. They are comfortable, lightweight and supportive. I get lots of positive comments on the bright color, but why not have fun when you are working out. I wear a 9 1/2 and bought a 10. They fit great!

I've been apprehensive about Newtons ever since I heard about them but I just decided to train for a marathon so I wanted something with more substance than my other forefoot shoes. The Newtons are great! They are lightweight and very easy to continue proper forefoot/midfoot strike technique. I really think these will prevent injury as I increase mileage. These are definitely worth the extra money (above other comparable shoes). Don't really like the color but the performance is perfect.

I love these shoes. This is my second pair of Newtons, and once I changed my running stride, I really liked them. They do take a bit of getting used to. These are comfortable and light weight, kept my feet cool, and are such fun colors.
