I actually sang a little impromptu song of joy when I pulled these out of the box and tried them on, followed by a little skipping dance. And I am a grown woman who normally is unexcited by shoes. Dr Martens has finally made a comfortable boot. I ordered a full size down, based on my past experiences with Docs and the reviews left here. It was a good decision. The toe box is still roomy enough to be quite comfortable without being cumbersome. The shoe bed is totally flat with zero arch support and zero drop between heel and toe, which I like. In addition, this boot is very lightweight. I was looking for something that would be an approximation of a barefoot-style ankle boot, and this definitely fills the bill. Leather sneaker or lace-up no-heel ankle boot? You decide. The yellow stitching will broadcast "combat boot" to most people (easy to take a black sharpie to that if you don't want to be a walking advertisement, you rebellious punk-rocker thing, you). Since it comes up over the ankles, it is slightly restrictive for pointing and flexing of the foot, but not to the point that walking, running, dancing, or marching at protests would be inhibited. The leather that flexes at the toes will likely crease, but that is only to be expected, so proper leather care is required for this shoe. Would I wear it to work? Probably not. I don't want blood, urine, vomit, or amniotic fluid on them - though they'd probably hold up oksy. Your specifications for work-appropriate shoes may vary. Would I wear these on a date, to a job interview, or "Out?" Yes.

I bought these shoes as an alternative to rain boots and am really pleased with them so far. I'm not sure how they'd fare against pouring rain, but for rainy days they're perfect and keep my feet dry They are pretty stiff at the beginning, but I've had them for about two weeks and they're markedly more comfortable now than they were when I first got them

I usually wear a 9.5 but I purchased this in a 9 because I heard it runs a bit bigger. A 9 fits well, even with a medium sock. The shoes are comfortable - I didn't find it difficult to put them on, as others said in their reviews. Open the laces when you put on and take off, and it's no big deal. Breaking in the shoes took a day or two, and it was by no means painful. Fairly easy. Nice leathery sleek look. I hate the regular, bulky, shiny Doc Martens, but this is perfect. I walk and jog a lot for my job and these are a delight on my feet. The tongue of the shoe however, could be a bit wider. Maybe I'm thicker near my calfs, so sometimes my socks or jeans are visible if the tongue doesn't stay perfectly centered. Love these shoes, and very satisfied! Thank you Zappos.

I usually do a 6 UK in Docs, am 8.5-9 US, 39-40 Euro. I find sizing chart to err on larger size. The "Leyton 7-Eye Boot" runs more true to size than do most Docs. I wore these in pouring rain yesterday & they performed well, no rain saturation, feet remained dry, boots looking new all the while. I love the low profile sole. Great with rolled up skinny jeans for an urban appeal. Pleased with purchase.

I wanted some cool slip resistance boots for work, so because I love Docs, I decided on these. Now, yes these look cool, are cool and are super comfortable, but they are not slip resistant. I started wearing these for work and Ive slipped so many times, almost falling several of those times. Please if you want slip resistant boots...do not buy these. If you want cool, comfy boots...buy them!

Great style, but they're a bit stiff and narrow. Gave me painful blisters -- hope they break-in and loosen a bit. I'll continue to wear them, but if I I had it to do again, I would buy something more comfortable and versatile.

I ordered these in my search for good walking shoes, and they are the winner. The inside is lined and the outside is a lovely soft leather. There's a small bit of arch support and I assume the insole will mold a bit over time. I wore them for the first time on Mardi Gras day, and they held up for ~5 hours of near-constant walking. No aching feet afterward! As is usual with Docs, order a size smaller then usual.

I really enjoy these shoes, they are comfortable on every level.. When they arrived I was a happy girl! I put them to try and I wore them around the house.. I practically forgot to take them off. Worth the price, I feel as if I got more for my money!

Bought them for a NY trip and they were perfect. My feet didn't get tired walking in these boots even though we walked everywhere.

Thank you Zappos! Could not have so much fun shoe shopping without Zappos' wonderful service. Ordered the 39 instead of a 40 which is my usual size. I am sending back to return for a 40. Just a bit too short, seem like they will be comfortable. The verdict is still out. The red is a very nice color, understated, seems like it will go with everything.

Sizing down didn't work for me, I had to get my usual size. They are a tad long in the toe but otherwise fit great. I wanted a Doc Marten boot but didn't want to get the exact same boots I wore in the 90's. I really like the low profile, and so far they're pretty durable and comfy. Quality of materials is appropriate for the price. These will also survive this current incarnation of the chunky shoe trend!

The product description says boot, but I would definitely describe these as more of a leather sneaker. Sneakers are against the dress code where I work, so I ended up returning these.

Fits perfect, wanted a combat boot with minimal height since I’m already pretty tall. Had these for a few years and still holding up great. I have long skinny feet though, not sure how they are for wider feet.

BUY THEM! These Doc Martins are unlike the others, as they are light weight, soft, and flexible. But just like the traditional docs they run big — for reference I normally wear a women’s 10.5 or 11 and the 11 was HUGE while the 10 fit with room for a thin/regular pair of socks. If you’re like me and have always wanted a pair but won’t commit to the break in process these are for you, because you can comfortably wear them straight out the box!

I am able to wear these comfortably with my ORTHOTIC. Would not be able to wear them without this added support because arch is nonexistent in these. I think they will be ok. Have not worn the. Out yet. They do seem to be of a cheaper quality than other Docs, but the price reflects this.

These fit perfectly right out of the box. I prefer a little wider of a shoe and these fit great and look great.

I bought these shows to have comfy, tennis shoe-like boots for summer. These boots are exactly that. I get them a week ago and they were comfortable right out of the box. I have worn them every day since I bought them. They are nice enough for work, and casual enough to wear everywhere else. The leather is super soft. They may not be as hardy as the original docs, but they're lighter and the perfect do anything shoe.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this style of Docs! I must say I have problematic 6.5 W feet and the 6 fit perfect with a very thin sock. There’s enough room to put in an OTC orthotic, which make these more comfy than tennis shoes!

Super light and comfy boots. Perfect for those with flat feet since there is no arch support at all. I just wish there was a little less shine on the leather. Fits well and true to size.

I bought two sizes since so many reviews claimed the boots run big. I would say they really are tru to size. I have pretty narrow and flat feet so I like the fit just right. These are so much lighter than the original dr martens I wore over 25 years ago and have a more subtle look to them than the original version. Goes great with leggings and jeans especially when you’re not wearing a bootcut style jeans to cover regular boots. I just wish they came in half sizes.
