I have tried every pair of brown leather pull-on style boots under the sun, and I finally came to terms with the fact that my legs are just too short, my calves are just too wide, and my ankles and feet are just too small to work in a regular pair of pull-on boots. So I decided to seek out something new, and try some lace up boots instead. I'm usually a 7.5 in shoes, so I ordered the 7 and the 8 just to be on the safe side, and I'm glad I did because the 8 was a little large, but the 7 was perfect. The boots come up a little past mid-shin, so they're not overwhelmingly tall but they don't hit me awkwardly like a lot of short boots do. Also, being able to pull the laces tight meant I didn't have all that space around my ankles that caused other boots to wrinkle and bunch. I'm not a huge fan of the ribbon laces, so I switched them out for the regular ones, and I don't think it made them look industrial or combat-ish at all. All in all, I am SO happy to finally have found a pair of well made, cute leather brown boots that fit my odd shaped legs... I would definitely recommend them to any girls that have wider calves, skinny ankles, and small feet, because these fit like a glove.

Doc Martens is now shipping these boots with ribbon laces only. While cute, the ribbon laces are a pain in the butt (and probably not very durable). Zappos support was awesome and confirmed that they are getting ribbon-only boots; Doc Martens support was less awesome. DM does not sell the wide non-ribbon laces separately, and while they said the boots they sell directly through the website include both, I'm not inclined to try it. (Plus I had the blue/purple boots, so matching the color with other laces would be a challenge.) I was also judging these a bit compared to my old Docs; I have a few pairs that are probably about 15 years old, and the quality of materials seems to have gone down quite a bit.

I've wanted Docs since the first time they were cool, and now I finally have my own. I typically wear an 8.5W and often have to go up to a 9 to have the width accommodated. I ordered an 8 and a 9 for this boot, since I wasn't sure how this was going to go. The 9 was actually much too big. The 8 is still a little big, but it fits well if I wear regular socks paired with wool socks. Otherwise, my feet slip around a little in the boots. I haven't tried walking very long distances in them yet, but walking between buildings at work is no problem for sure. My calves are on the wide side as well, and these lace up well enough to not be a problem (no gap between tongue and boot) -- although the laces themselves end up being only long enough to come up to the third-from-last holes. The look is still fine, though.

I have a love hate relationship with these boots and did from the moment they came out of the box. Mine came with both ribbon and regular laces, and know the color is an almost dusty red and not a bright pinky red like the product images show. I love the actual color over the shown color (and thanks to other reviews I was ready for it), the leather is soft, and the interior floral print is bright and gorgeous. These boots feel almost broken in already. I just sold a brand new pair of classic Dr Martens I bought because I've realized I'm too old to break in a brand new pair. They have a great '90s My So Called Life look. These feel about a half size bigger than the size 10 I bought, but will work great with thicker socks over tights. My one real complaint. I have large calves and these boots, when tied tight and laced the entire way up, will not lace up the whole way. They're made more to be loosely laced or folded over. I'm going to keep them because I can find a way around it. Just be forewarned these are not made for the person with larger calves.

Looks great in person. Loved the cherry-ish color and the style. I so wanted to keep these boots. Alas, I have a very high instep. They pressed down right across the top of the shoe where the tongue attaches and it was just going to be too painful to try to break them in. I got the Phinas too and no problem with the fit.

I love these boots! They are so much more broken in than regular Docs. I was able to wear them all day every day for 2 weeks straight, and even used them for hiking, and they felt super comfortable. These are my absolute favorite boots and I am almost tempted to order a second pair. Just a heads up, they look a bit grey next to black pants/leggings. Not a problem for me personally though.

These are great boots that are instantly comfortable. I bought the 9-eye and the 14-eye in similar styles. The boots came with satiny laces as well as regular laces in a plastic bag attached to the boot.

Of course, Zappos.com delivered these boots in about 36 hours. I do not know how they do it but they always do. The boots were great. My daughter loved them. True to size and really great looking. Just what she wanted for her birthday! Thanks, Zappos - you did it again!

I am absolutely in love with these! I love the fact they added a feminine touch to something very masculine. There's something about these that's just down right sexy. I'm a hairdresser and need comfortable yet trendy and stylish. These definitely fit that bill. These are my new "work" boots for sure! By the way, you can buy more of the ribbon laces on their website and they also offer a variety of colors as well!

I really love what I got. They feel quality. I saw some similar ones in the store but they were not as quality. they were even the same brand. I think they must make a low end and a higher end. I wear a size 8 and these fit perfect in length. I have a narrow foot. These feel a little wide but I am fine with it because I can wear thick socks for winter. My only gripe with the shoes are that they have that buckle so you can buckle them down. But if they are not buckled down they clink clank so you hear yourself. Kind of annoying. They feel very combat boot. They are just what I wanted.

This is a super fun boot! Love that it is taller than normal combat boots. Super feminine!

Absolutely LOVE these boots! I originally had reservations about what to wear them with but I have quickly found out they go with darn near everything! I'm getting tons of compliments on them and am considering another pair!

I love these boots. It's the third pair I've purchased, rounding out my collection with pairs in black, grey, and now red. They are comfortable from the get-go, look great with a variety of styles, and have that Dr. Marten coolness. If you aren't patient enough to completely unlace your boots each time you take them off, these are not for you. You have to appreciate the time it takes to lace them up. I've never worn them folded down, just out of personal preference, but there are lots of different ways to wear these. Highly recommend. I wear a 7.5 US, and a 5 UK. These fit true to size for me. Get 83" laces in other ribbon colors and spice up your fashion options.

I love my new boots. They are very comfortable, I love the appearance, I love the style. Shopping with Zappos was a wonderful experience. This was my first time, I will do it again.

I love these boots so much. They took a few days of breaking in but now they're super comfy. I have super wide calves and have a hard time finding boots that fit but I can lace these all the way to the top. These run a little big. I normally wear an 8.5 but I got these in size 8 and they fit perfectly.

I don't usually write reviews about anything, but I felt compelled to write one about these boots. They are my favorite Docs, let alone boots, that I have ever owned. They go with almost anything, easy to get on/off, aren't painful at the end of a long day and are super durable. Functional and cute. Couldn't ask for more.

The Dr. Martens Triumph 1914 boots are very comfortable. They are easier to pull off when you tug out a few rows of laces before attempting to take them off. They kept my feet warm enough walking through snow and ice and muddy trails and have decent traction, but don't make my feet sweat in warmer weather. I'm not a huge fan of the flowery fabric on the interior, I wish mine had come with the plaid fabric instead. Due to the flowery fabric, I doubt I'll ever fold them down to wear them the alternative way. Zappos shipping was awesome and timely, as usual.

This is the best boot ever! They are amazingly comfortable and there was no "break-in" time like with most docs. I have fairly large calves and even with lacing all the way to the top there is plenty of laces left to tie a bow. Best part about this boot? The versatility. It looks great with jeans but also with fun skirts. Also, great for hiking. You just can't go wrong with this boot!

Perhaps I'm spoiled because Doc's are the only boots I've ever worn, so I know my size & I know by the looks of the boot if they'll fit my poor, overworked, flat feet. As always, these Dr Martens are a dream. The ribbon laces are a bit much for me & thankfully they came with a regular, replacement pair. The arch support is perfect & I appreciate that I can wear thicker socks, comfortably, by simply loosening the strings a bit. Would suggest to absolutely anyone looking for comfortable, reliable boots with a bit of spunk.

I *love* these boots! I never expected a pair of Docs to be comfortable out of the box, and have certainly had others that weren't, but these are incredibly comfortable with no rubbing or stiffness. The leather in the calf part is beautifully soft. My pair (cherry red) came with both the ribbon and the regular laces, and I like the regular laces a lot better. As for size, like all Docs, order a smaller size than you're used to. I'm normally a 6.5, I got these in UK4(US6) and they're just right, maybe even a little bit. There will certainly be room for thick socks.

Bought these for my teenage daughter for Xmas. As an old school Dr Marten purist, I was hesitant buying a more fashionable pair of boots without the yellow laces. These boots Rock! They are so cute on. Tough, but fashionable. I expect long term wear from them. The color has a green cast to it but looks great and I love the ribbon laces. They also throw in a regular set of laces for back up.

I'm very happy with my new boots. They are comfortable, sturdy, and look good, too. The fit is a little too big (normally I'm size 8 1/2 to 9 and had to order a 9 because no half sizes are offered), but with thick socks, very wearable. I would not have ordered shoes online were it not for Zappos free return policy, but I will not be returning these boots. In fact, it was so easy to order, I might be in trouble.

I am a 6.5 but with the ordering of the UK sizes I was hesitant but hopeful to order the right size. I ordered a UK 4 and I could not be happier! The boots fit perfectly and are so comfortable right out of the box! Original order is in black but now I think I need to order every other color possible. What a great boot!

These boots are pretty awesome; however they do appear more green than black. I wore them indoors for a day to break them in, and now they feel quite comfy. I can't say I love them, but I do really like them!!
