I LOVE these shoes! I can finally hike and walk in more rugged areas or when it is cooler and I can't wear my Birk sandals. They stay on so much better than the clog style. The flap that others mentions does not bother me at all. And they look really cute with skinny or slender jeans/pants with a cuff. Actually there other non-Birk shoes similar to these that are in style so I like the way they look and feel funky stylish in them. I get compliments on them too.
I'd also recommend:

I am struggling with these two, same issue with the material folding when I put the shoes on, if folds forward and it does hurt like the other review says. So I ordered a bigger size, that seemed to help but now I feel like I have clown shoes on because they are like a 1/4 to big. Not sure what to do. If the these didn't have that flap they would be the best shoes ever. Wondering if I should take them in to some sort of shoes repair place and stitch that shut.

These shoes are excellent! Same Birk. Quality in a new more stylish shoe. I'm completely happy w/ the shoe. I hope the add more colors and/or leathers. Regarding the tap issue that some people are mentioning, I've not had a problem at all. I can see where the tab my catch on your foot, but all you have to do if flip it back w/ your finger. Criticizing the shoe for that is like criticizing a shoe because the tip of the heel of the shoe folds over when you slide it on. It happens. Flip the material back over and move on. Again, great show! I highly recommend it!

I love you more than my dog! In the search for the most comfortable pair of casual shoes in the world, I found everything I was looking for. Zappos.com service is second to none. In a day and age when customer service is nearly dead, Zappos sets a new standard. Further, Birkenstock created a well made comfortable pair of shoes that I wear as often as possible.

I'm a woman and I needed/wanted a closed toe Birkenstock. I ordered the same size I normally wear with Birkenstock sandals, and they worked fine for me. I love that I can snug these up around the ankle, yet still have plenty of toe room. I have trouble with the clogs, since they don't have a strap near the toes to tighten, because my feet and instep are so narrow. These solve that problem. Mine don't have that extra flap inside the shoe that some reviewers have mentioned; my feet slide in fine. These do have that, um, unique Birkenstock look, but I love 'em all the same!

I love these shoes/boots. I wear the Boston style often and these are just the same with ankles. The ties up are wonderful as they do not slip. Great!

I wish there was no problem with this shoe. Perhaps a design flaw is the cause. When inserting the foot (the left in this case) part of the interior material folds against the foot and is impossible to adjust from the outside. Painful. Not sure if I would try an exchange. Surprising considering the company touts its products' quality and my experience with their products is mostly good.

I have owned four pairs (London, Gizeh, Arizona, Milano) of Birkenstocks and a pair of Birki's professional clogs which I wear for eight plus hours a day. I have difficult feet which are wide and I wear a large size for a women(42 in birki speak) I have plantar fascitis and pronate. I absolutely adore Birkenstocks. They are excellent shoes. They have great arch support and are long lasting. Well Worth the price. However, This boot did not fit me well. The top of the boot rubbed against my foot and I found the toe box to be tighter than other Birkenstocks. I decided to return because of poor fit. I also felt these are the least attractive Birkenstocks I have ever bought.

I am The Princess and The Pea when it comes to footwear, which is one of the reasons I choose Birkenstock: in general their shoes are kind to sensitive feet. But the design flaw that others mention in their reviews of the Dundee -- overlapping suede below the rivet, where the front and back of the shoe meet -- was a deal breaker for me. The suede would catch on the side of my foot and fold forward inside the boot, and the extra material caused discomfort that increased over time. Overall, the Dundee is an attractive boot that was completely unworkable for my sensitive feet.

These are supremely comfortable shoes, and surprisingly numerous people have stopped me on the street to compliment them and ask what kind of shoes they are. While they are funny-looking in that typical Birkenstock way, this style is clearly an eye-catcher.

They are becoming more comfortable all the time. One thing less than awesome about them is that where the suede upper comes together is open down from the rivet to the sole. It seems to let quite a bit of grass and pebbles in. But it is nice for ventilation.

I wear a 42 in Birkenstock Arizonas but this was much too tight across the toe box for my foot. The arch support and footbed in general is excellent though, like all Birkenstocks. These are unfortunately fairly clunky looking since the footbed is exactly the same as an Arizona. I could go to a 43 to get the width I need, but then the anatomical footbed wouldn't match up correctly.

I have been waiting for Birkenstock to come out with something like this for a very long time. They did a great job on this one...in my opinion the best looking product they have ever made. While I agree that there is a flap of suede that you can catch your foot on in the way in, I find that it is easy to work around, and I have had a hard time wearing anything else since I picked these up. Don't sleep on these.

This is an awesome new product from Birkenstock and it comes complete with what may amount to design flaws. I am a long time fan of Birkenstock and am not one to complain but the Dundee does come with issues. First, the overall design of the Dundee is traditional Birkenstock including the anatomically correct cork/latex footbed , the wide toe box and high quality, good looking style. The problem (and depending on your tolerance levels may be a minor one) is where the front quarter of the shoe meets the rear quarter on the outside of the foot. There is a small piece of suede leather on the interior of the shoe which is part of the front quarter which folds "in" (towards the front) as you insert the foot. There is little or no way to correct this problem once the shoe is on and it results in a nagging discomfort. This problem is exacerbated by the fact that the shoe itself seems to be extremely narrow in and around the lace section . I am sure with wear the shoe will stretch/widen but I don't see the "fold" problem going away. Other than that I really like the "Desert Boot" look of this new design and am struggling with a return decision.
