Nobody has commented about the oxblood color, but it is really special. I was skeptical when a sales associate at Nordstrom urged me to try it (I was debating whether to buy the brown suede), but as soon as I saw them on I fell in love! It is such a beautiful color, but there is a strong black undertone, so you can wear it like a neutral but still have it pop. They look smashing with black, navy, khaki, or denim pants or skirt. As others have said, there is something miraculous about the fit of this boot and how it flatters the foot and leg. I am average height and don't have long or particularly nice legs, but in this boot my foot looks elegant and my legs look long and lean like in no other shoe or boot I have ever owned. The suede is high quality and the Nike technology make them super comfortable. I am a solid size 7.5B show size, and they fit perfectly. The elastic panels are ingenious - very flattering but also allow for a good fit for a range of calf sizes, as you can see from other commenters. My calves are average sized but I see comments about good fit from people with large or thin calves. I highly recommend grabbing a pair of these in oxblood at the bargain price!

These were great, but since I'm only 5'1", they hit me in the back of the knee when I sit down. Too bad because they actually fit my huge 18" calves.

I love these Cole Haan boots! I had been looking for a great pair of suede boots for a while and when I saw these buy Cole Haan I knew I couldn't pass them up. They are so beautiful! The suede is soft and rich. They are easy to get on/off due to the elastic band and totally comfortable. They look great with a pair of skinnies or leggings, or even with tights and a skirt. They are very flattering and in style and perfect for the winter season. I am normally a size 9, which I bought and fits perfectly. I am so happy I bought these. They are worth every penny!

Beautiful boot! I have skinny ankles and skinny calves and wanted a boot that didn't bunch around the ankle or have space at the calf. These Cole Haan's unfortunately did both these things so I am returning them.

I have a difficult time finding boots because of my "athletic" calves. These stretch panels along the side are not only fashionable, but stretch to fit my calves with jeans or leggings. The boots are fashionable and extremely comfortable to walk in. I loved them so much I bought a pair in brown suede. Highly recommend.

Just got these and am very pleased with the quality and comfort. Other boots I have with same heel height have felt less comfortable, these are like wearing tennis shoes. I have athletic calves and usually have trouble finding knee boots to fit, but these went on easily without any pulling or squeezing. My only disappointment is that they are not as tall as I would prefer. I'm 5'8" and love a very tall knee boot. Glad to have found them - and on sale!

Really wanted to like these. I've been looking for nice everyday black boots without tons of buckles and embellishment. These look awesome and the leather is high quality. However for a pull-on boot they are really hard to get on even with the stretch panels. On me they did a funny bunching thing around the ankles, it looked weird and was also uncomfortable. I'm bummed because with the Nike technology the footbed part was actually comfy and offered good support but the ankle thing was just too annoying. Thanks Zappos (quickest shipping ever and great return policy)...the search continues!

I have found the perfect boots for me. The heel height, boot height and calf width is just what I was looking for. I'm 5'4" with average calf sizes so super skinny side zipper boots can be a challenge. The classy elastic side panel allows these to slip on with ease. I generally wear a 1/2 size larger in Cole Haan shoes so the 7.5 was a great fit.

A very comfortable and flattering boot. Fine for skinny pants or for skirts and dresses. I live in NYC and love to walk. The Nike Air technology really does work.

I have only had these boots for a day, but the moment I put them on they fit like a glove. They're extremely comfortable right out of the gate. I'm 5'10" and have small calves/narrow feet in a size 11 (M) shoe. I have fairly high arches, but I'm able to slip them on and off without any trouble. I haven't tried yet, but I will easily be able to wear these with pants/leggings (not heavy jeans, however). The leather is a high quality, but it certainly isn't the 'butter soft' leather that you might expect from a fashion boot. I think the stiffer leather is a good fit with the style of the boot (more of a riding boot), and it helps ensure that the boots don't slouch. The only reason I gave 4 stars on style is that (in my opinion) these are meant to be a very classic boot - not a high-fashion, latest-trend sort of style. I couldn't be happier with my purchase! I love these boots! I have long narrow feet, and these fit pretty great! There was a small break-in period for my pinky toes, but generally these are very comfortable to walk around in. The material is beautiful, and I've received a lot of compliments!

I love this boot. I was kind of worried about the fit on my leg because they are so skinny but it was the perfect fit. I'm ready for another pair in a different color!

Just what I was looking for! A tough-looking, well made, unembellished boot! I am usually an 8 in Cole Haan shoes, but find 8.5 in their boots a better fit. Thank you Zappos for your patience while I ordered and returned a million boots until I found the perfect pair. You are my favorite shopping buddy!

Fantastic boots! Just perfect if you want a finely made boot with clean lines. Superb quality leather and crafting, which is to be expected of Cole Haan. I have relatively large calves -- 16 1/4 inches, and these fit fantastically, even over leggings or skinny jeans. Leather is supple and they were well broken-in within three wearings. I can't stop wearing these shoes, they go with everything!

Love them! I have what people are calling "athletic calves" although not so much that I can't fit into most boots. These boots are really slimming! Others have commented on the quality of the leather and I don't agree that it looks cheap. I think it looks great. It's not a worn or weathered Frye kind of look (I have those too), but sleeker and does not look cheap at all. Also, Zappos was awesome because I exchanged the original pair and entire process was fast and easy.

I had to send these back because my calves are 17" and my feet have high arches. First thing first, I got these on with ease. They are so so comfortable. Beyond words. I am quite certain that these will fit over one with 16" calves. Also these seemed to be a lil more of a clay red color. But still they were beautiful.

So wanted to love these, but just can't. I have a high instep and made getting into these boots tricky. Not sure I like the elastic panels either in person and on me as much as I did in the picture. Continuing my search. Thanks, Zappos. Best customer service.

Love these boots despite how sore my legs get when I wear them. These boots are very narrow -- around the feet and legs. I guess I should have bought them half a size bigger (I'm 8.5 or 9 depending on the maker and I went with 8.5 for these). But I figure they are made of leather so they will stretch a bit. Because they are so narrow they are great for leggings or tights -- could also work for very skinny jeans. Again, I still do love the boots and wear them almost every day, but buyer beware.

This is the first time I've been unhappy with a Zappos or Cole Haan purchase. I really wanted to like these. I've had them a month debating whether to send back & finally wore to work today. I should've sent them back. They are really stiff on the inside & the leather feels grainy & cheap - not what I expected from Cole Haan at all. Definitely poor quality and not comfortable at all. My ankles were swollen and creased at the end of the day after wearing these, and I don't have wide calves. Steve Madden's boots are better quality than these. I regret this purchase & wish I'd just saved my money up for the 5050s I've been dreaming of for years. If Zappos won't accept the return, since I wore them indoors for a whole day, then onto eBay they will promptly go.

This is a review for the Wide-calved gals like myself. After reading very mixed reviews about whether this is suitable for very wide calves, I was a bit apprehensive about buying them, but took the risk and it paid off. I have 17 inch calves, and while at first I thought that I wouldn't be able to even get my foot through to the foot bed, with only a bit of pushing it did go through. They are hard to get on and off, but if it is as hard for you as it is for me to find knee high boots that actually fit, it's a small issue to deal with, and I'm sure will get easier the more I wear and break in to them. They are 100% true to size for me. I even have a bit of a wide foot, and my regular size feels completely fine. The only uncomfortable part is the ankles - they will require more time to break in, and I'm even thinking of getting them stretched a bit, as they are very stiff, and my ankles are also on the thicker side. That being said, they look great on and make my legs look half the size.

These boots are gorgeous and very well made. I get a ton of compliments on them and you can tell that they are a quality product. They are very comfortable and the goring helps them to hug my calf for the most flattering look. I would recommend to anyone!

Beautiful, simple riding boots. They are very comfortable, especially after the first two days of breaking in. Great sale price!! I have big athletic calves, so the elastic is fantastic; I can wear with bare legs or with jeans!

I love these boots. I bought them for myself because I needed a nice pair of black boots. They are comfortable, classic and look great. You can dress them up or down and you will not want to take them off. I got them on sale and could not be more in love with them - especially for the price. Definitely considering getting them in Sequoia.

Love them. Haven't worn them yet except for around the house as I live on a tropical island and they are for when I travel. True to size. I am a 5.5 with huge athletic calves and I struggle to fit boots. They do wrinkle a little at the ankle but what boot doesn't. When I sit I do feel the back of the boot in the crease of my leg as one other review stated. I am keeping them based on the fact that they are lovely and fit my calf!
