I have previously had NB 927 walking shoes, thought this one would be sufficient, but after walking a mile my legs and feet hurt, these were not as supportive as the 927's. Figured I had worn them too much to return so I do wear them at work (Clinic job). I ended up reordering the 927's.

As a new person to more "athletic" walking shoes, I probably won't hit all the main points, but I'll do my best. I normally wear 7.5/8 in Keen and 8 in Dansko, standard width. In these I am taking an 8 to accomodate socks and swelling but probably could have done 7.5. These are advertised as having a wider toe box and narrow heal (see NB web site; after much research I arrived at this shoe's last), so I originally ordered standard width. I ended up sending them back for a wide. I am new to NB so I didn't realize they run a little narrower than I am used to in other shoes. CONS: Very pricey not to have leather (breathable, conforming) in the upper. Not as much arch support as I'd like and as was advertised. The color options are too few compared to other NB shoes and this appears across the board in motion control walking shoes in this price range. Heal slips a little though it was advertised as narrow. Run a little hot, not breathable. PROS: Extremely light weight. Good cushioning. Motion stability in the heal. Appear well made. Made in USA. Good motion control on outer part of shoe. Comfortable out of the box. Zappos quick shipping and customer service allowed for ease in exchanging sizes. I will probably keep these because all research points here and not really elsewhere, but they could improve some things.

For my feet, the perfect walking shoe! This particular "last" works best for my feet (get more info on NB lasts on their website). I have flat feet and the right one has a bunion and a very painful neuroma. This last is more narrow in the heel and bigger in the to box, which is a must for me. And the shoe is very, very orthotic friendly. I try them all and currently have two items in the left she and three in the one on the right and everything fits. In addition, this shoe is not the usual awful white or black. I really wish that New Balance would get more creative with style. This one is different and people comment on it all the time. For my lousy feet, a great shoe!

These are the only shoes I can wear and not have my feet hurt. The 847 is a great model. They are very comfortable for my nursing job. The silver color is great, after years of only having white or black. My wish is that New Balance would make this line in some of the bright fun colors that a lot of sneakers are now. GREAT SUPPORT AND ACCOMMODATE ORTHODICS NICELY.

I've never worn a more deceptive shoe. I tried these on and they were very comfortable; plenty of room in the toebox to keep my feet comfortable, and fit like a glove across the rest of my foot. But after walking outdoors in them for 25 minutes, my feet were in so much pain, I had to stop walking! What a complete disappointment! Now, I can't return them and get my money back because I've worn them outside. I am utterly outraged that a shoe billed as "athletic" can only be used for decorative purposes. If you want sneakers to go on long walks in, to go to the fair or amusement park all day, or do workout in -- this pair is not for you! If you want a pair to stand in, that look okay with jeans, and that's all you want them for -- then get these shoes. But I'm warning you...the comfort you feel when you first try them on is thoroughly deceptive. They turned out to be a complete let down!

After a few Zappos orders and returns, searching for well fitting walking shoes, I finally settled on this model that satisfies all my picky preferences. It is attractive, lightweight, has synthetic leather and mesh in all the right places along with reflective details. This New Balance Shoe is the SL-2, WOL-1 Shoe Last--meaning-- Narrower Heal Width, Higher Instep Height, Deeper Toe Box Depth, and Wider Forefoot Width. This encompasses ALL the specific needs to my Size 11 2E athletic shoe size. I have recently found this exact shoe on another online website for less than Zappos price. However, as a Zappos VIP member, I cannot turn away from next day delivery, free shipping, simple free return process!

I absolutely love these newly remodeled sneakers. Having plantar fasciitis for a few years, this style is even better than its former self. (I had W846 bit this model is even better.) The color of silver is great and new. Buy them, you will not be disappointed!

I wear a womens size 13 and this shoe fits very true to size in my opinion. I love the New Balance brand because you can actually feel the quality of the shoe and the materials used to make the shoe. I bought these shoes for walking and for my new job as an RN on the med/surg unit of a skilled nursing facility. I have no doubt that these shoes will be more than sufficient for my 12 hour shifts. These shoes are also very flattering if you have a larger sized foot. They actually feel like you're walking on supportive clouds! It's so nice to have a shoe that does not hurt any part of my foot. Also, I have to give a "shout out" to the Zappos team. I was provided with excellent customer service and free next day air shipping. Keep up the good work, Zappos!

I used to purchase New Balance 846. It was a good, but not great, shoe. The 846 did not last a year before the inner sole collapsed inside the shoe and the arch support flattened out. I purchased them twice a year and wore them because I liked some of the way they fit. I decided to try the new replacement for that model. Since the silver color did not appeal, I waited for a more conventional color. The shoes I received were defective and very poorly made. At the lace holes, there was a lot of fringe from stitched ends which should have been trimmed. Plus the leather of the shoe felt hard -- like plastic. Also, the shoe runs very short in length. The inner sole and arch support feel non-existent. When I put my feet in the shoes and walked about, my feet felt like they were squishing around and moving back and forth without enough arch material to hold the foot back. The inside of the shoes near the toes are also finished roughly as I felt material digging into the front of my toes. What a shame. Certainly not worth the price tag. These shoes are very cheaply made and lack the fine finish work and quality.

At age 72 and after logging over 60,000 miles (first running long distance now walking), I've known my share of athletic shoes. These meet every test I might apply (i.e., last, weight, support). NEW BALANCE knows shoes. For my money they cannot be beat!

Hands down, the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned in nearly 50 years. Wish I could rate them 10 stars for comfort. Perfect with my full-length orthotics (after removing the ones they came with) Ended up buying a second pair in another color I like them so much. Love the last narrow heel and wide toe box. Have also recently discovered Cobb Hill for alternative to sneakers. From now on, l will never buy anything else besides New Balance products.

I have extremely supinated feet, and these are the best shoes I have. New Balance shoes in general have good support for supinators, but some feel clunkier than these. These are somewhat lighter and conform to my foot better. I can wear them all day walking over cobblestones, and my feet and ankles feel fine. Of course Zappos service is amazing. I wish they'd have a category for "shoes with a slightly flared heel" (Arcopedico for example) because those of us who roll out in our gait need that.

I must have ordered 6 pairs of shoes trying to find something for my wide, troubled feet. Thank goodness for Zappos! This pair turned out to be the best for me. I was looking for something a little more stylish and colorful but when it comes down to comfort, that trumps all. These are nice and roomy in the toe box with a stable sole.

These are great walking sneakers. Very roomy for my hammer toes and bunion. I have tried other brand wide width sneakers D width that were not comfortable but these are. If you are like me and have hallux rigidus, these will work for you also. I have been walking every day for about a month and so far so good. I don't mind paying for quality sneakers, my feet are worth it!

I really love these shoes. Great for walking in. The toe box is wide and deep, so they don't squash my toes. And they fit around my heel and ankle. The shoe doesn't slide up and down my ankle. I would buy these shoes again.

These shoes are wonderful. After returning about 6 pairs of shoes, I finally found WW847. They are deep and provide plenty of support. And, oh, my hammertoes are so happy!

I love this shoe and have it in both colors. What caught my eye when I was looking for a good walking shoe, was comfort of course, but what really did it, was the bunion panels. I can wear this shoe all day and the bunion is cushioned and no discomfort. There is no other shoe for me.

I wanted a lightweight, well cushioned pair of walking shoes for my treadmill. Unfortunately, I also am more comfortable in wide shoes to accommodate a bunion. These shoes are perfect. As soon as I put them on, my feet were happy. That was an especially good thing because if you try to look for the combination of features I mentioned, there are not many shoes that fit the bill, as there are few walking shoes available in wide sizes. After several weeks of walking daily in them, my opinion has not changed. I decided to keep them as indoor shoes only because they do pick up pebbles by the dozen. I will have to get another pair for outside walking. They are so comfortable and nice looking, it is worth it.

I've worn this style for a number of years (starting when the number was 841), and I really like the feel and the fit. The shoe has extra arch support for pronation--and it does the job well. It's a great walking shoe.

The shoes are great! Fit is right on, very light compared to my running shoes. I wear them on concrete floors for 12 plus hours a day in a retail setting and they are extremely supportive.

This shoe is very roomy and relatively cushy. I felt it was too large overall, but I have wide, flat feet complete with arthritis and bunions, so roomy is good. I can fit both a generic foot pad inside as well as my orthotics without taking the shoe's own liner out of the shoe. It works well for me, but still seems a bit big. I need an extra wide shoe, and most aren't ever wide enough, so this shoe will do. I use it for doing walk tapes, daily casual wear, and other interior aerobics/exercises. I'm not a fan of the metallic shiny silver on the shoe, but otherwise find the shoe fairly attractive.

I always buy New Balance walking shoes because of my hard to fit, long, narrow foot. I have found in the past few years that their shoes aren't as narrow, flexible or comfortable as shoes in the past. They just feel like big boats on my feet making me a little awkward when walking. But this brand seems to be my only choice.

I absolutely love Zappos. they ship so quickly that I wonder how they could even do the paper work that quickly. These New Balance shoes are back to being the best, seems they had a lapse for awhile.
