I'm so disappointed with the promise of these boots. I bought them with plenty of time (4months) to break them in for my planned walk on the John Muir Trail 211 miles). This is my second pair of Lowa's. These boots broke in beautifully and were as comfortable as favorite slippers by the time I left for the JMT. I was one of the only hikers I met on the trail that had no blisters or hot spots. However, about 7 days into the hike, the soles started separating from each boot along the front toe box. It was hugely disconcerting. In the end I made it, but the boots will have be thrown out. With less than 300 miles on these boots, it's obviously a flaw., and a big waste of money - they are not cheap! I found another reviewer here who experienced a similar problem. It such a shame as they started out so well. I may even try to contact Lowa's directly to let them know.

This is a beautifully made shoe. I am returning it because it is not the right shape for my finicky foot; I have a high arch and need lots of arch support, plus I have a wide forefoot and need tons of toe wiggle room. My heel and ankle are regularly shaped. This shoe seems as though it would fit people with a regular foot all around. For me it doesn't offer quite enough of an arch, nor does it give my pinky toe any ability to wiggle. I still think this is an amazing shoe.

High quality boot made for a woman's feet, I appreciated the way the heel is snugly held, not swimming around but correctly supported. The traction on rocks and inclines/declines is above adequate. Comfort is immediate, no real breaking in required. I'm very impressed and should be for the price. Did put a pair of Super Feet insoles in because I like a bit more support on inside of arch/heel. Love the boots!

The fit was perfect for a woman. They were comfortable right out of the box. I wore them almost whole Day around house and they felt wonderful. Then I wore them outdoors. No sore spots, blisters or anything. We are from Pa and spend summer in Colorado Rockies my other hiking boots (danners) were heavy and time to replace. Since I am older, I needed a boot with nice ankle support but comfortable. These seem to fit all things. Can’t wait for those Rocky Mountain hikes and time in backcountry. Until then, I’ve been wearing them and loving them. Happy outdoors.

I find this runs a little small, 7.5 too small for my normally 7.5 foot, so got an 8, which I find a tad large, using insert to address issue. I like my hiking boots snug without too much extra toe room. Love these otherwise, good arch support and stylish, warm and have kept me dry. Happy with purchase, anticipate using these for years of birding and hiking, justifying the very high price.

These are my second pair of Lowa's. I can't say enough about how wonderful these boots are. I have hiked in the heat, rain, snow...temperate rainforests and the Grand Canyon. They fit great the first day and have never had a blister due to fit. The ankle support is wonderfully helpful when on uneven terrain. I have flat feet and a tendency to roll my ankles. I also bought some Superfeet insoles, purely for the sake that I am a backpacker and tend to carry a 30-40 lb load on trips. My husband also has had several pairs of Lowa's. They are worth the price!

These are the hiking boots I've been looking for. Thank you Zappo's for being so patient while I bought and returned so many until I found these! I wear a size 9, which I ordered. Lowa left the perfect amount of room for lightweight to heavy padded socks. The adjustable lacings are xlnt abs comfortable. Some reviewers said theirs came apart too soon. Shoe Goo is made for that and will take care of that in a jif, and it works! Besides, if I only get a year's wear out of these boots, it will still be worth it. I wish I had bought 2 pairs! Hardly any breaking in, but I did and have kept wearing them all the time bc I love them even better than my really comfy Saucony running shoes.

I needed some new hiking boots after my last two pairs of boots lost their soles right in the middle of hiking trips. I did not take very good care of them and didn't go backpacking for years so they languished in my closet and got dried out. The soles just peeled right off. I am determined to take better care of these new boots and utilize them more in order to make them last and keep them in good condition because I really love them. I did some research online and these boots kept coming up as the most comfortable. I also liked that they had an all-black color option. It is hard to find black hiking boots. My boyfriend had a point which is that they will show dust more easily than brown or other colors. I have a black car too and people occasionally like to snobbishly remind me that it shows dust more than other cars. I don't really care though, I like black because it's stylish and I like to look good even while hiking. One person said the black has a "blue cast" to it but I don't see it. They look black enough to me even in the sun. I love the style of these boots and the comfort. I hiked a few miles in them over the weekend and they felt really good. My feet were a little tired at the end of the day, but still comfortable with no rubbing, pinching or toe-stubbing. My feet are size 8 in length and 8.5 in width so I ordered the size 8.5 boots. They are not so big that my feet are sliding around in them, but there is enough room and ankle support that when I go downhill on a steep grade my toes are not slamming into the front of the boot too hard. I even tripped over a few rocks but my toes were not injured. I love how tall the boots are, and that there is a little V-shape in the back so that your leg still has flexibility while walking. They have good grip on dry trails. They do not feel too heavy to me. The shoelaces are surprisingly not very long. However, I did not have any issues with my laces coming undone while I was hiking, so maybe they are better that way. I will have to see how they perform on a multi-day hike, but so far, I am very satisfied.

I ordered size 8.5 and 9 black hiking boots. I usually order size 9 shoes, if they involve sports. I had a hard time deciding which size to keep but ultimately went with the size 9 because they were a bit more comfortable at the ankle and there is plenty of room for my orthotics. I have narrow feet and both sizes fit well, even with thin ski socks. Very comfortable out of the box. I've been breaking them in all evening for an upcoming hike here in Colorado but I don't think it is even necessary. Very stylish, too. They will look great doing non-sporty things and with black leggings.

I love these boots. They are light, warm, supportive, sturdy, and attractive. They are easy to lace up, even when the dog is in my face, excited about the walk. I have worn them daily this cold winter, for dog-walks, errands and hikes in the woods. For me, they are well-worth the price.

These boots are the best. I tried on SO MANY different pairs of boots, including snow boots, and out of all those, I couldn't turn the Renegade down. The treads are very grippy and the ankle support is excellent. They are SO comfortable! They are also very nic-looking, not like alot of hiking boots. I wear these all the time, in place of my tennis shoes. They are that comfortable. I didn't really expect them to be warm, but they are! Living in Colorado, I need that warmth factor. I don't know how warm they would be in snow but on cold days they are great. My foot does not move around at all, which I REALLY like. It really bothers me when shoes don't fit right. One thing to take into consideration, I wear an 8.5 in most shoes (7.5 in my Ariat boots) and I needed an 8 in these. But otherwise, I love them. I haven't tried them on the trails yet but I know they will be great.

I wore these boots to hike the Way of St. James in Spain. I walked almost 500 miles in all kinds of terrain--from city streets to steep mountain descents over loose gravel. I loved these boots. I walked 5 hours in a driving rain and my feet did not get wet. Cannot say enough good things about them.

My husband has the man's version of these boots and loves them. They are lightweight and comfortable and easy to run in. When I needed new boots he suggested I try them and I have not been disappointed. I have flat feet and usually wear 8.5 in dress shoes. To insure my toes did not hit and had plenty of wiggle room with a Superfeet pink insole I purchased the 9.5 after trying on 8.5 to 9.5. So far they have been great. My husband has worn his for years and they are holding up wonderfully. Live 2.5 hours from nearest major shopping so I really appreciate Zappos!

I got these boots as I am an avid birder and encounter many different terrains out there, rocky, swampy, trails, beaches, etc. Needed flexible and waterproof boots for day treks, not backpacking. While I love the boots style and comfort, it is not that warm and I feel it runs a little big. I am almost always a size 38 European size or 7½ US size, but the 7½ in Lowa are a 39. It may turnout OK to have a little extra room for thick socks as the boots themselves are not that warm and I mostly use them in fall/winter/spring here in New England. I have yet to test out the waterproof claim, will report on that later. Zappos service is excellent as I returned these twice before settling on the 39. The 38 was just a tad too short. Hoping these boots last a decade due to high cost.

The fit was good, and even though other reviews mentioned how non-cushiony they were, I thought an insert would solve the problem. It did not. The boots are beautiful and well made, but very hard and too heavy for me.

I was really excited about trying Lowa and finally ended up with this pair. However, I have been so disappointed regardless of these reviews. It is an okay boot, but I had a pair of Ecco hiking boots that were the best, however they discontinued that boot and I purchased the replacement, and it was horrible. This is what made me decide to change to try Lowa. I had them for 3 months and was concerned about the quality. I took a group of Scouts to camp and we had 2 days of hard rains. The boot got wet, I thought they did okay, I would give it a B-. However, and I am not kidding...when the boot dried, it actually shrunk 1/2 size? I could not believe it. I will have to try and stretch them out somehow. I have never had a boot like this shrink in length! This book may work for a day hiker, but if you spend long periods of several days, find another boot.

I love the boot but the color was not as named or pictured. The graphite was not gray but green which unfortunately was not what I wanted. As usual, zappos is good with returns.

Loved the looks, and almost the fit. However, wearing them slightly longer to be sure, on a carpeted surface, within the hour revealed the predictive pain of a foot jammed into a narrower capsule. I do despair I might never get closer than these, though. Frustrating having a foot that’s wide as a man’s, when a men’s boot is often sloppy in the heel. I wish I could just go to a hiking store, but retail brick and mortars often only offer sizes up to 10.

I have worn mid-height hiking boots in several years but need them for an upcoming trip. I'm very pleased with how they fit; the right length and width which is hard to come by. The only issue I'm having is some rubbing on the front of my ankle from the tongue. It's been getting better so I think the material just needs to be softened up a bit.

I love these hiking boots! Had difficulty in finding the right size though... I usually wear a 7 1/2 in all types of shoes, but these seemed tight in the toe box in a 7 1/2. I tried the 7 1/2 wide and they were too roomy in the toe box, so I settled on the size 8 med. I am returning the two 7 1/2 boots. The 8's are Perfect!!!
