Apart from what Anonymous spouts as being "hilarious that only 10%" know what these shoes are intended for, I love the shoes, wear them on serious hikes and scrambles over slick rock, but have no qualms about wearing them anywhere else, they are that comfortable. So all "approach shoe" snobbery aside, wear them wherever you want. They feel good.

Looking through the reviews, I found maybe one that actually understood the purpose of these shoes. Listen carefully: These are NOT casual shoes! They are approach shoes, meaning they are meant for moderate climbing and serious hiking. This is why the soles are "stiff" and the shoe is so "tight". It's also why the specific type of Vibram rubber, used for the sole, grips so tenaciously on concrete. Glad everyone loves them so much, as they are fantastic shoes, but it's hilarious that maybe 10% of you are wearing them for their intended purpose.

These shoes are amazing!! So stable and comfy just walking around the house. Can't wait to try them out. The color is great and they definitely could be worn off the trail. I have a size 5 1/2 narrow foot from heel to toe, with a high arch. I usually order up size 6 US for athletic footwear. I decided after reading the reviews, to go with my European size for comparison, which is 36. I ordered slightly up in size to the 36-37, 5 1/2 US. The sizing came out perfect! There is plenty of space in the toe for extra socks. In fact, I would say if you are ordering by US sizing only, these shoes run just slightly longer than marked.

A near perfect lightweight but sturdy walking/hiking shoe for NARROW HEELS and WIDE TOES/HIGH INSTEP (laces go far down and would adjust for a more narrow foot too). It's stylish enough to wear with leggings and a skirt on a hiking plus city vacation. I usually wear size 38 (7) in a regular shoe, but I size up to accommodate a wool sock and orthotics when hiking. I'm 38.5 in this shoe, but a 39 (7 1/2) in the Scarpa hiking boot. I love that Scarpa comes in European half sizes. My only complaint is it's not waterproof (no Gortex) but it's a keeper.

So comfortable! Love wearing these every time I hike so I can climb on rocks with confidence. Nice and sticky. Not wide toed like other hiking boots I’ve had so I am more nimble. Highly recommend!

I got these shoes in advance of a trip to Northern Italy where we were planning to do quite a bit of hiking and via ferrata. These shoes were great for those outdoor activities, weren't super heavy, and required no break-in.
I've really enjoyed that they're sort of a cross between a hiking boot and a climbing shoe.

I love these shoes - comfy, cute and high quality! I need a new pair of hiking shoes, and I also wanted to use them for mountain biking so I was looking for a stiffer sole. They work great for both hiking and biking. I wore them all week for a trip in Moab, and they gave me a lot of grip on the slick rock and trails. I would definitely recommend these shoes. I've never tried this brand before, but I will again.

I love these shoes! I bought them for hiking and scrambling. I thought they would be too stiff when I first put them on, but as I walked around I felt comfortable and supported. I went on a short hike a week ago and did some light climbing. The shoes performed well and I was confident in them. I am going on a two day backpacking trip soon and I am confident that these shoes will be great!

I wear an orthotic in my shoe, and size 39.5 is perfect for them. Everyone's foot is different, so it's hard to say if they accurately sized. I generally wear an 8.5 with my orthotics, so I guess this would make Scarpa running a little large... size up?
I like the fit, snug, yet comfy. I will use them for hiking and for kicking around because I don't have the money to buy another pair shoes to wear specifically for hiking and specifically for kicking around. If I did, I would buy another pair of shoes.

Love them! These were perfect on a 10 mile backpack trip. I have tried several pairs of hiking shoes: Five Ten and La Sportiva! I haven’t been able to find a pair that did not give me blisters until these! I went with the 41 instead of 40 to give a little more space for long descent!

This is a great shoe for hiking and climbing over different types of terrain. The shoe feels like it sticks to many different rocks and trail surfaces. It is also very comfortable and dries quickly if it gets wet.

I bought these shoes to hike Machu Picchu. They are extremely comfortable while giving my foot maximum support. And they are quite good looking as well. Very, very pleased.

Love this shoe! Once I got the right size, it fit perfectly. I usually wear a 10 but found that the 9.5 was much better. The Scarpa Crux is great for wearing around town or on the trail, especially when bouldering around on rocks. I have been wearing them all winter and they keep my feet warm and dry.

These are great and I am a big fan of the styling. Very comfortable. I wore them all day for many days in a row for lots of walking and was happy with my purchase of these.

I really wanted these to work out, but after trying them on a couple of times I realized my toes felt a little squished. For most people the toe box is probably OK, but I like a lot of room when I'm hiking. I ended up going with Asolo Nucleons. Pricy - but super comfortable.

I have narrow feet so it is very hard for me to find shoes that fit. These fit well and are also cute. I get lots of compliments on them. They are sturdy and firm. A nice compromise between a hiking boot and a tennis shoe.

The fit is true to size for me. I’ve got wide fat feet. I love that the laces are adjustable down to the toe, allowing for whatever level of support I need, whether bouldering, scrambling, walking across slick rock, or the long walks, I can loosen or tighten to suit sock thickness or tired toes. Sturdy and grippy, yet oh so padded, I always feel comfortable and supported in my Scarpas!

I love Scarpa shoes but the styles I bought in the past had mesh on the sides and weren't great in cold, wet weather. I bought these and sprayed waterproofing on them and my feet have stayed warm and dry through the recent snow. They have great ankle support, too, which helps when you can't see the uneven ground under the snow.

Super comfortable and stylish hiking shoes! I went by my European size 39. (I normally wear 8.5 US). They fit perfectly and didn’t need much breaking in. My husband has the men’s version and they have held up really well over the years!

After reading the other reviews I’m willing to bet that the majority of women who bought and reviewed these shoes are a bunch of sendy ladies who know how to get it done outdoors. I bought these shoes because they are multi use. Mountain biking, hiking of the “serious” and Not Serious variety, walking the dog, climbing and anything else you feel like doing. They’ve got good traction for hiking and are stiff enough for pedaling. I am a solid 9 in street shoes. I wear a 9.5 in running shoes and hiking boots to protect my perpetually lost toenails after ski season. I bought these shoes in a 40.5 and honestly expected them to be too big. They are not. I love them.

I’m not sure that I would size DOWN, but definitely do not size up. I wear either 9 or 9.5 (9.5 when running) and I ordered the 9. After a day of hiking and stretching them out, I needed to tighten down the laces to snug the fit. These are super comfortable and work great for a rock climb traverse, as well as for the hike out to it.

YEAH!!! They fit! I've tried on more shoes than I care to admit and finally a pair of shoes that fit my narrow ankles and the different size feet. I had to adjust the laces to make them just right.
