I was looking for a very comfortable fisherman style leather sandal with a wide toe box that I can fit my orthotics in on top of the footbed (rather than removing the footbed). I also wanted a leather interior that would keep my feet from getting too sticky in the summer heat. I have an old pair of leather Keen sandals like this that I love so much I've completely worn out, and sadly Keen does not make this kind of sandal any more. Other brands with vegan straps and rubber or synthetic footbeds make my feet sweat a lot and get both uncomfortable and stinky in the summer. I searched Zappos for sandals that would meet all of my requirements and found only a few possibilities. I ordered a couple, and the Alegria Pesca is the one that I'm keeping. I have been wearing my Pescas for about a month now and have been very happy with them. The footbed is very thick and comfortable -- it actually goes down a fair way into the heel of the shoe (which is hollowed out to accommodate the footbed). There is enough room in the shoe that I am able to lay my custom orthotics on top of the footbed without a problem. Many shoes pinch my toes, but Pesca has ample width in the toe box, so my toes feel great. This is not a sleek or dressy looking sandal, but it is still pretty cute and looks great with casual summer dresses or shorts or jeans. I have gotten a lot of compliments on it. I have the stone color, which is very versatile and goes with almost everything. I did find that the leather was a little stiff when the shoes arrived, and the stitching around the edge of some of the cutouts rubbed against my feet. This hasn't been bad enough to cause blisters, and it seems to be softening as I wear the sandals more. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase and will probably try other shoes in this brand.

Like another reviewer said Zappos has the sizing off from the standard Alegria table. A 39 is an exact 8.5 in Alegria. When ordering, select the Euro size making sure to adjust, euro 38/7ish, euro 40/9ish. With that said, this is an adorable shoe, giving you the toe protection and high activity shoe most of us need once the weather starts warming up. Very well made, my first of this brand I will be looking at this brand faithfully.

The Alegria Pesca is much softer and has greater flexibility and bounce than many other Alegria styles. The leather is very fine quality and has cut-outs in just the right areas for a wonderful summer style. The Pesca has a more sleek style than most Alegrias, and has fantastic arch support and plenty of toe room and width for those of in us who need that extra space on this part of our foot, especially if you have bunion issues like myself. The sizing is somewhat confusing so once you get the correct fit, you will be lovin' this one masterpiece of a shoe! Of course, Zappos is the only place to purchase shoes online in my book. I now understand how Zappos came up with their name...you place your order and like magic -Zap! your shoes are on your doorstep the next day. Zappos is amazing and I love Zappos and their special team. Thank you Zappos!

Wow, these are so ugly! But they are so comfy! Ugly! Comfy! I'm 57 years old, so comfy wins. I got the 'aged dusk' color, and it's actually a nice gray-blue.

When I first tried the Pesca I loved them there was no break-in period (unusual for me) and seemed like I found my perfect summer shoes! So I ordered another pair in a different color! My initial five star rating is now down to one star because after about 4-6 weeks of wearing the insoles in both pairs have developed the worst squeak. People at work started to tease me that they could tell it was me walking down the hall before they saw me! I will still wear the shoes but not anywhere where the very noticeable squeaking would be an issue. This may be my last Alegria purchase which is a shame as they fit my feet so well and are super comfy.

These are great shoes! I got the stone color which is a nice neutral with black and khaki pants. I will be taking these traveling and they should be easy to slip on & off for airport security. I have wide feet and love the width of Alegrias.

I see from reading reviews of the Pesca that my two pairs aren't the only ones that squeak. I solved the problem by removing the insoles and sprinkling baby powder in the shoes. I put the insoles back in the shoes, put the shoes on my feet, and no more squeaking!

This is my fourth pair of Alegria shoes. I bought these in the stone color. I had mixed feelings about the color because it has black burnishing on the toe and other parts of the shoe, but the more I looked at them with jeans and other clothes, the more I realize they go with everything! They are super comfortable at at 56 years of age: comfort is everything! I recently fractured my knee and since my foot swells, I had to use compression stockings to get them on, but they are just wonderful feeling. I also have a Morton's Neuroma in my right foot, and these shoes give the necessary width to accommodate my painful toes. The arch support is perfectly centered with my foot. I am a true size 8 and in the Alegria I buy size 38 which is perfect. My feet never get tired in these shoes and I have been wearing Alegria shoes in various styles for 2 1/2 years now. I want to get these same shoes in the black color next and right now they are going on my wish list! Buy Alegria shoes...you won't be sorry!

These shoes are everything I've ever wanted in a shoe. First of all, they are just adorable. The platform gives you a little height without putting your foot at an unnatural angle. It has a slight rocker bottom that makes walking so pleasurable and the design of the rounded toe gives flex room to your toes. They seem extremely well made and the leather is good quality. As soon as I got them and took them for a walk I ordered another pair in the mary jane style, the one with the big button. Love both pairs and plan to order the dusty blue pair next. I wish I could justify ordering one of each style.

These shoes are great for those who need a wide toe box. I wear an 8-1/2 in shoes that are wide in the front, like these are. In other brands, I fit into a 39; but with these, I'm a 38. I kept the 38's to wear in summer and the 39's that I originally bought to wear in the Fall with socks. They might look weird with socks and jeans, but they were too comfortable to send back. The Alegria Pesca's in 38 regular were a little snug, so I took others' suggestions and ordered a pair of Alegria wide inserts. The new inserts fit perfectly into the shoes. They were not as thick as the original inserts (although just as supportive and just as much arch support), so now I have wiggle room for my toes. Thank you to other reviewers for this suggestion. My only issue with these shoes so far (only having worn the 38's without socks a couple weeks) is the heel rubs just to the outside of center on both shoes. I put suede heel grips in and am hoping this will help. The heels do not seem too large, so I'm not sure why I'm having an issue there. I have never work closed shoes without socks, so maybe I just need to wear them more. I would recommend these shoes. They have great arch support, and I think they're cute.

I'm so glad I came across these sandals. I've had rheumatoid arthritis for many years and had various foot and other surgeries because of that. I'm limited in the types of shoes I can wear; usually athletic shoes with my custom orthotics and other lace up shoes for dress. I've wanted to find a sandal that I could wear comfortably and these are the ones! The insoles are actually so comfy that I can leave them in rather than switch to my custom ones. I did have a sizing issue with the 1st pair I ordered in a 39(9-9.5) because I went by a previous reviewer that stated that the sizing was off and a 39 was a perfect 8.5. I have to disagree because I always wear an 8.5 and found the size 39 to be too big. I then ordered size 38(8-8.5) which fit perfectly. The almond color is a great neutral. A big thanks to Zappos' excellent shipping & returns policy!

Believe the size chart provided by the company. I wear an 8 or 8½ I ordered the 38 and 39 and the 38 fit the best. I had to put in heel inserts as the heels slip. Also, my own orthotics were too thin to make the shoes fit properly, so I have to wear with the included inserts which are quite substantial. I need a wide toe box, so the shoes were fine here, but a tad too wide elsewhere.

After having 4 surgeries on my feet and toes, it’s important that I wear shoes have good support. These sandals fit the bill! Barely any break in period and lots of room for my toes. I don’t even have to use my supports inside these comfortable shoes!! After purchasing my first pair in Cognac, I ordered the Butter Black AND the Tawny ones as well. I usually wear size 40 in my Uggs, but the size 39 fit me perfectly. Love the style as well.. they remind me of Earth Shoes from the 70’s. Which I loved!! Truly a well made sandal.

This shoe is comfortable, supportive, classy, and cute! I love wearing the fisherman's style of these shoes. They are airy and cool in the summer. Perfect closed-toe shoe for people like me who don't think our toes make a pretty display! In the winter when it's cold, I can still wear them with socks. Love these shoes! Good for my feet. I do have to do a lot of trying on to get the right size, but Zappos is so accommodating.

I love Alergria shoes and was excited to see Zappos had them; but watch their sizing info! I ordered the 9-9.5 which they have as 39--this should be 40 instead. Alegria website has size 9 as a 40 and it is true to size as I have several pairs from them. They are marked correctly it is just Zappos that has them missed categorized.

I've never tried Alegria shoes before, and unfortunately I have to return these. I ordered them in Aged Dusk Leather, which is pretty much as shown in the picture and would go well with jeans. The shoes are well made and would probably be very comfortable. I ordered these in a Euro size 41, which I have in other Euro shoes like Reiker. This brand indicates that size 41 is equivalent to a 10.5. I usually take a 9.5 or 10. These shoes don't seem to be too long, but they are quite wide and they slip at the heel (I often have this problem with shoes). The wide toe box also makes me look like I'm wearing clown shoes! So back they go.

Having tried several styles, this brand is not for someone with feet on the narrow side. My heels once again slipped out of the back, and the toe box, while comfortably generous, was probably also just too wide. Had to send back.

The fit for me, size eight, was perfect at 38. In another brand I need a 40 so of course I ordered these in a 40 and exchanged for a 38. They are perfect. First time I wore them for a short time and experienced a couple of tender spot after maybe 3 hours. Second wearing and seems either I am,or the sandals are broken in. Shoes are perfect!

I love the Pesca style. I bought them a half-size up, I wear a 7-1/2 and the 38 fits fine. The only problem is they squeak! Especially the right one. I'm a librarian, so this is a bit of an issue. Has anyone else had a squeaking problem? I still love the shoes, but not the ever-present squeak

Extremely comfortable and cushy but just too unflattering for my skinny legs and long feet. The toe box is very wide, giving a clownish effect for me. I'm sad to return them but still just too vain at age 64!

Lovely sandals & so comfortable with great support. Received compliments from women in their 20's all the way up to some in their 70's. I usually wear size 7 1/2 - 8. With Zappos "free shipping both ways" in mind, I ordered sizes 37 & 38. The 37 was way too tight, but the length seemed fine; kept the 38 & was able to wear it right out of the box. If I look closely at the inside, front at my toes, the size 38 sandals are little long on me, but this is not noticeable from the outside.

Honestly, I can hardly get these shoes off my feet! What I mean is...they are so comfortable, that my tootsies keep asking to wear them. The biggest question is...which Alegria style will I purchase next? Great shoes!
