I ended up purchasing the Black Coral sunglasses after trying a couple other Maui Jim styles (Ohia and Castles). The smaller bridge size, rectangular lens, and shorter temple length suited my facial features far better. I was expecting the glass lenses and metal frame to be a little heavier after reading some reviews but was surprisingly pleased with their weight and balanced feel on my ears and nose. The clarity with these lenses is impeccable. This is my first purchase of Maui Jim sunglasses, and it will be far from my last! I highly recommend visiting a local store that specializes in sunglasses. Their expertise is vital to a perfect fit.

After being a Sunglasses Hut employee I was well knowledged on Maui Jim and only they will do. I got these for my brother for Christmas and couldn't have gotten a better gift they fit well and looked great in on him. Glass lenses make these a great quality

I bought these for my husband after ordering four different pair for him to try on at home. He loves them! I love them on him too. I broke him out of his ray ban rut. These are of excellent quality and worth every dollar. I actually think they are very sexy on. They are well made, stylish and modern looking. Built to last and compliment a mans face.

I have always had perscription sunglasses through out my 50+ years, and until last year didn't know what I was missing out on. I received these last year and immidiatly had perscription lenses put in them. I love them. They fit perfect. Vert well constructed. You can just feel the quality. I have since sold my elderly Mother, my Son and my Wife on all getting a pair. I am sold now as a life long Maui Jim customer. Thank you for being a company that actually takes pride in their product.

I have now purchased my 3rd pair of Maui Jim's. True , this has been over a 15 year period AND True, I still have the very first pair - The Big Kahuna's" (or that's what I call them), Each pair fits a little different, but they all fit great. Maui's are more expensive than some, I agree, BUT you really do get what you pay for. Go buy the Oakleys and Ray Bans and then take that step up to First Class and get a real pair of sunglasses - Maui Jim. 'nough said.

I received my Black Coral sunglasses at a trip to Maui last April, what a great gift! This are the best sunglasses that I got. I have several sunglasses but this are the best optical resolution sunglasses of all. I got RayBan, Serengeti and Bolle sunglasses and this Maui Jim are the best!

These have to be the best Maui Jim sunglasses I have ever owned. Even with the glass lenses they were light and comfortable. I live in So Cal and love to fish the Pacific. With the bronze lenses, I was able to see clearly through the water and could not believe the clarity!! Sorry to say, someone believed they needed them more than me - sure miss them. The next pair of Black Coral will be with prescription lenses.

I've had some high-end sunglasses, but the Black Coral Maui Jim's I purchased in July are the best yet. The styling, quality, and color rendition provided by these lenses is absolutely great. Really glad I made the purchase!

If you were to ask me what are the greatest sunglasses out there, then I would ask you 'great' for what purpose under what lighting conditions? I am a collector of sunglasses and I have many fine shades from Oakley, Ray-Ban, Costa, and Maui Jim (among others). In terms of outright lens clarity you can't beat Maui Jim. They are the best of the best. But glass lenses are a little heavy and thus a properly fitted pair is critical to any application. A plastic frame is typically a better solution for glass lenses. Tighter more forgiving fit and better protection for the glass. And then there's my Black Coral metal frame shades. My Black Coral shades exemplify Maui Jim's excellence. But I won't be riding around on my dual-sport motorcycle with them as sand and stuff kicked up off the road would eventually sand-blast them. Interestingly, I've actually worn MJs for this application and have yet to see a single divot in the glass, but the principle is sound. Were a rock to get kicked up and bust me upside the head then impact resistant polycarb lenses would be the better choice. But for riding or driving behind a windshield, or any activity that doesn't involve organic objects moving toward you at high speeds, then you just can't go wrong with a good pair of MJ shades. Costa lenses are great (for some applications) but they tend to be prone to delaminate upon impact. Oakley's are great for all things hard sports, but Maui Jim wins the Kewpie Doll for totally awesome lens quality. I can easily see someone with one pair of sunglasses getting a lifetime of use from these shades. Just get out the hair dryer, fit the stems to your noggin, and enjoy the rest of your life in 3D clarity.

I have owned nothing but Maui Jim's for over 20 years and not only are the glasses truly amazing, but most importantly the customer service is second to none! Over the years I have dropped, cracked, scratched and most recently sat on my beloved coral's that I have owned since 2012 with no issues at all. The customer service was beyond perfect and I am extremely happy to have my beloved Black coral's back so quickly. I strongly recommend anyone that wears sunglasses to try Maui Jim!

I bought Maui Jim sunglasses one and a half years ago. One of the arms broke off. I was disappointed because I really loved these glasses. I contacted Maui Jim's customer service centre and had the most amazing experience. I sent them my sunglasses and about a week later, I got my glasses back with NEW frames and a NEW case! I was thrilled. Thank-you Maui Jim!!

I'd never spent this kind of money on sunglasses before, but when I tried them on they fit like a dream (which is saying something, because most sunglasses are too small for my face.) Then when I looked out the window of the store and saw what a difference they made in what I could see on a sunny day, I decided to splurge and take a chance. And I have no regrets. The biggest difference between these and other sunglasses I've owned (in the $100-$150 range): they allow my eyes to be wide open on a sunny day. I didn't realize the squinting that I was doing with other pairs I'd owned (be it slight or significant.) They are a pleasure to wear... but one does need to be mindful, as I've already broken them once and had to pay to have them repaired. I'm learning to keep the case with me whenever possible.

The glass, polarized lenses are amazing: super clear, crisp vision. Extremely comfortable on my nose and my ears. The thick frame is one of the reasons I bought this particular pair and it is as sturdy as it looks. The unique coloring on the inside of the frame gives it the uniqueness I was looking for as well. By far the best pair of glasses I've ever owned.

Ordered the Black Coral online with Matte Black frame and Neutral Grey lens. Overall look and feel is very good. The Black Coral are a replacement for the Castaways that I returned (they let too much light between my eyebrow and the lens). I purchased these at the same time as Castles Aviators as I could not decide between them - still cant decide which I like best so I kept both... The fit of the frame is excellent with the glasses feeling light and well balanced. My head is of average size which seems to match well with MJ glasses with a medium fit. They are the heaviest MJs I own, and the tightest fit at the temples. The nose pieces are well designed to feel secure without pinching. They sit closer together than the nose pieces on the Castles making the glasses sit slightly higher on face. The nose fit feels similar to the integrated nose piece on my Wassup and Tumbleland MJs. The temples are gloss finish acetate. I much prefer the colour and finish on these to my Castles. The fit of the temples feels feels firm, and the acetate itself feels strong and rigid. The temple pieces are quite curved and follow the curvature of my head. The lenses are excellent in clarity and provide excellent coverage all round. I've noticed some reviews criticising the trifold case. I actually like this case design as it folds neatly to fit in my briefcase, or alongside my phone in my pocket. It provides adequate protection for storage in the car glovebox, on a nightstand or in a bag compartment for glasses. You definitely want to invest in a stronger case if you want to toss your glasses loose in a backpack or handbag. My collection: Tumbleland, Wassup, Makoa, Castles, Black Coral, Hot Sands Tried and returned: Castaway, Peahi, Whitehaven, Compass

It's a personal thing - just the way they hit the bridge of my nose, but can't knock the spec's for that!

It's hard to find sunlasses that fit Asian faces. They're either too tight on the temple or sag on the face. This one fits me quite well. Some minor adjustments to the nose pads and arms were needed but nothing major. The lens are big enough to cover my eyes and the slip-resistant nose pads were comfortable enough for me to wear all day. I wore this pair while traveling abroad. It's durable as I have worn it in the water, stuffed it in my bag and dropped it a few times.

These glasses truly are amazing. The glass lens are scratch resistant. 6 months later and not a single scratch. The only complaint I have is that they are a little on the heavy side. This was expected with the glass lens and doesn't bother me until I sweat a little bit and it slides down my nose. I would strongly recommend this to someone that wants a versatile sunglass that has many functions with some style.

With that said, these should be treated like a delicate princess. When they aren't worn on your face, carefully place them in the case. Do not wear them on your head or propped atop a hat. They are heavy and they will fall off and the lens will break. Do not put them in your chest or pants pocket. The frame will bend out of shape and the lens will crack and pop out. They are probably best worn while driving and stowed safely away in the car upon reaching your destination.

I admittedly have a big head! These sunglasses work. They are very comfortable. No more head aches from tight fitting glasses.

I have a large oval face. MJ is the only brand I have found that I am happy with all around. I have several pairs for a wide range of use (lake/biking/golf, casual and driving). The Black Coral glasses are what I use for driving and I really like them. The clarity with all MJ glasses are exceptional. There may be better, but they do not fit my face. My only issues with this pair is they are a bit heavy, I am use to the rimless metal frames, and thick arms impede peripheral vision. The second I have adjusted to, the weight is something to consider if you will wear these for long periods of time.
I'd also recommend:
MJ is the best

I like the way the Maui Jim Black Coral sunglasses (that I recently purchased) look and feel. (That's why I bought them.) I have only worn them a few times, though, so my opinion of them does not have much value. I would have preferred to have waited a while before reviewing them, but I got tired of being solicited for a review by Mau Jim, so I am hoping not to be bothered about it again. Just know that if you choose to Buy Maui Jim sunglasses part of the cost will be taking time to write a review and answer a bunch of questions. Good luck with that!
