I ordered these for my husband who is very picky about comfortable shoes. He has many foot issues that make finding the correct shoe a challenge. These were a big hit right out of the box. We just returned from a long vacation of hiking up and down the hills of SF and Big Sur. In the city or on the trails these shoes were perfect and looked good too. Lots of toe space, good overall support, great shock absorption and comfortable. The shoe also accommodated an orthotic well. Highly recommend.

I've had other Keen shoes and really liked them. This one though lacked arch support and the top of the shoe is cut a little high and rubs against the lateral malloelus on the side of my foot.

These are my favorite Keen I've ever worn. I put them on for a trip to San Francisco and haven't taken them off yet. Extremely comfortable for walking.

My initial thoughts: The dark shadow/gargoyle color is not as it appears on the site. It's actually a dull blue not a dark gray. The overall look is quite understated/simple but in a good way. I find most Keen shoes to be lacking in the style department. I have a wide foot with a high arch and typically wear 10.5-11s, depending on the shoe. The 10.5s felt pretty good until I tried on the 11s. The 11s give my feet a bit more room to spread/swell and allows me the option of wearing heavier socks. With that said, the exaggerated rubber toe does make them feel slightly long. I do need to tie them up a bit differently to keep my heel from slipping. The insert is on the moderate to firm side, certainly not cushiony (e.g. Oboz Sawtooth). Again, I've only had these a couple days and been wearing them around the house (for 3-4 hours at a time). What seems very promising is the toe-box accommodates my wide feet extremely well straight out of the box, which is a rare experience for me. I expect to get some really good use out of these shoes.

I am so happy to write this review. I bought these for my husband. He took them out of the box and has worn them every day. He has many pair of Keen shoes. He loves Keens. But these add a little zip to his step. They are very stylish. I just hope they continue to carry this style/color. The orange is great!

Terrific shoe. Perfect fit like only Keen does it. Good looking - stylish. Superior material and fit and finish. Feels supreme on the foot! Perfect!

Overall I do like these shoes, but they seemed way too wide (or tall?) for me, and I have never been known for narrow feet. I also felt that the supplied insole did not provide much of any arch support. I bought some superfeet brand insoles (also from Zappos) that were thicker, and had more arch support. Now my feet fill the shoe better, and feel more supported. So far I love the combo of the two. I switched to these from Merrells, and with the aftermarket insoles I like the feel of these better, but the total cost was more than your typical Merrells, so I feel like it's pretty much equal. Time will tell about the longevity. Ratings below are based on the shoe without the insoles I mentioned. If you factor those in, comfort becomes a 5 star rating.

The Ambler is a comfortable and "roomy" shoe. I like Keen shoes because they have more room for the front of my feet. One complaint for the Ambler would be the lack of arch support. They have some arch support, but if you like a high arch in your shoes, the Ambler is not for you. The only other minor complaint is the color is lighter than is pictured.

Good shoe so far. At 3 weeks still a bit stiff.. Light weight. Looks great. No trails, just urban. Might keep these as everyday shoes. Sole seems a tiny bit thin at the ball, especially on hard surfaces.

This Ambler is another great Keen shoe. I have purchased 8 or so pairs of various Keen shoes from Zappos and have had an out of the box fit from the get go. I hunt, fish and work construction. A pair of Keens are on my feet every day no matter what I'm doing. They are durable and comfortable even after getting soaking wet or muddy. I can't see myself in any other shoe.

I bought 2 pair of these shoes for my husband who wears them daily at work. He is on his feet for 12 hour days and these shoes are his favorites. The price was less than our local store. Thanks Zappos for the savings and convenience!

This shoe is great for dirty jobs. It's heavy duty and protects the foot very well. I felt that the ambler runs a little large but every other review seems to say the opposite. It takes at least a few days to begin breaking in the shoe which feels stiff at first. My only complaint is that there isn't any cushioning and the insoles are pretty hard, ill prob end up swapping them out for a shifter insert.

There is some arch support. My Keen Wichita's have more arch support, and they are also a little wider then these, same width. Both I picked because I require metal or reinforced lace holes. I hate the weak fabric eye holes on most shoes now-a-days, which break long before the soles wear out. As soon as I slipped these on they felt great, a little stiff, but nothing a little break in can't cure. I'm a big fan of Keen. They seem to always know me. As for style, even my Wife commented they she liked them, Whoa! And of course vip.Zappos had them here lightning fast so I can sport them this weekend. I can't wait to test them out walking or pedaling down the trails.

Very comfortable as I expected from Keens. A bit stiff originally, but loosened up nicely. Sturdy feel. I'm hoping these will last for a long time. Great traction, and my wife likes the style, can't beat that.

Awesome shoes have 'em on right now actually. I agree with the 1/2 size adder...works. These are well made...worth the money.

Like every other pair of Keens I have bought, these are very comfortable right out of the box. They fit great and look awesome.

The other reviews are right. These shoes are a half to a full size off. I usually wear 10.5 or 11, and I kept the 11.5's. Luckily ordered a range of sizes to pick the best fit. With Zappos returns, it's the only way to go. I've had them two weeks. Walking on blacktop, packed snow, and loose snow, these are great. Really comfortable. Great support and cushion. My only complaint is that the soles slip more than Vibrams do on slicker ice. But that is a minor point. Love them.

Have worn Keens before so I'm familiar with their product. For me, the Ambler has lived up to the Keen reputation. I wear U.S. size 8 with most other shoes... but with Keens, it's a U.S. size 8.5 . They were almost comfortable out of the box... at first it pinched a little around my ankles. Since then, they have broken in. I like the color and styling. Fast becoming my favorite casual shoe.

Great shoe. Love the feel and the look. They are definitely made with the solid, sturdy construction I've come to love about Keens.

I got this shoe as the reviews said it was a little wider than marked. I have a wide foot and they fit very well. They don't feel like they have a lot of support but after wearing them for a couple of week they are comfortable to wear. I'd buy them again.

I purchased these for my son because he was one size over the last size for kids in the Keen shoes (he is almost 11 and wearing size 6). Since Keen shoes run a bit smaller, you always have to buy the size up, and that put us into adult sizes. So this shoe was the closest to the kid's version that I liked. Lately, I have been buying Keen shoes for all the kids hoping that they will last at least a year (until they outgrow them, not outwear them). Either all my kids are hard on their shoes, or they just don't make shoes like they used to, because we are lucky if they make it 7 months with one pair. So far so good. These are adult shoes, so they have the tie laces, no strap or bungee tie. I do wish they came with some other sort of strap that is safer/more secure. I think that this would be valuable even to adults.

This is my second pair of Keens & now probably my favorite most comfortable shoes right out of the box with no break in period needed. I usually wear a 10 but ordered a 10 1/2, fit perfect, good support.

These shoes are awesome. My husband has some foot issues and these offer great support, have lots of room in the toe box and are great looking. Dealing with Zappos was a dream. So accommodating and excellent service.
