Overall a very nice shoe, however comparing the quality to the pairs of past (wore many pair over last 20 years) I feel the quality may have slipped. Still a great product, for which time will only support my position.

Excellent shoe. Supportive and light-weight at same time. Only one negative - it runs about a half size too large

A full size smaller fits a bit loose, but is comfortable overall. The shoe is well made and looks nice.

The Gold Cup 0579052 (being reviewed here) looks very classy but the leather is stiffer than the Gold Cup STS15277 which I also own. They also fit a bit tighter (narrower) making them less comfortable. Maybe they'll wear in over time but I've had them for just over two weeks and worn them for probably about 20-25 hours and they're still not as comfortable. I wish I'd have returned them.

I have worn these Sperry Topsiders for many years. This new pair is comfortable and a good causual/boat shoes. I rated 4 stars because leather laces are too long and too bulky making an untidy knot. Otherwise, just what I was looking for.

Quality is what I expected from Sperry. This was my 4th pair of these shoes.

I ordered these because of all of the great reviews however I had to return them because they were too narrow on my wide foot. A good looking shoe but just didn't work for my foot. I would recommend those with a big wide feet go a size bigger/wider.

First off Ive only had these shoes for 2 weeks. They fit a little big but one tightening the lace its perfect. The shoe isnt as comfortable as I thought they would be bt are way more comfortable than any other boat shoe Ive purchased. I would RECOMMEND these shoes but I would love it if sperry made these a touch more comfortable and in more colors.

A few years ago I bought a really nice pair of Sperry all leather boat shoes two hole, good arch support, oiled leather, leather laces. Since then Sperry has apparently discontinued those shoes. I thought maybe these might be close but no dice, 2X expensive as my old pair, some sort of hard leather finish, and no arch support. These are lined with lamb skin which for boating is ridiculous as they'd get wet. But I wanted a knock about shoe that can get wet. I live in Seattle after all. Fit length and width matched the sizing. No arch support. I could buy an insert but for this price it should have it. Fortunately Zappos has a good return policy as these went back.

I initially bought the Black ones and liked them so much that I have subsequently purchased a brown pair. Besides the cost, my only complaint is that the insole in my black pair is beginning turn up. Shortly after I purchased the brown pair, I Made the mistake of wearing them for the better part of a day without socks. Consequently, when I took them off, the insole in one shoe came out and the insole in the other almost came out. However, I do enjoy the shoes and they are better than any other Sperry shoes I have owned.
I'd also recommend:
These are the only Sperry shoes I would own because of the comfort.

I like this shoe very much, but the side of shoe is a little high and hits my ankle when I walk causing an irritation. Covered the spot on my ankle with a bandaid and hope the shoe changes shape a little in that area so it will stop causing a abrasion. Other than that the shoe is comfortable and seem very well built as are my other Sperrys. Also, a very nice looking shoe. I just wish these were cut the same as my other Sperry boat shoes so they would not bother my ankle. Also, needed a half size larger on this one (9.5 W vs 9 W).

Best Sperry Top-Siders I have owned. I wear my Originals for everyday and save these for casual dress occasions. Handsome shoes of obvious quality.

The shoe has high quality materials and workmanship. The size is true to order. There are not many wide sizes available.

My last pair of Sperry Gold's lasted 6 years of nearly daily heavy wear. Absolutely comfortable even after hours of walking. These were the closest replacements. Still very comfortable, but heavier (weight) than my last. The cushioning is very good, but again not quite as "springy". The deerskin inner is sliding a tiny bit and curling a little along edges. I've worn them about 10 times so far. Makes me a little nervous about quality control - these were issues with the last pair, but with those it took years to show the same signs. Still excellent shoes - so far.

I am on my 3rd or 4th pair of this particular shoe. This pair was a larger size than I have had before but it was still too narrow. However, after 3 tries, I have been able to stretch them to fit. There remains a MAJOR problem with this pair which I never encountered with the earlier versions -- when I wear them without socks, the insole comes out with your foot and it is difficult and inconvenient replace into the shoe. After several attempts by Nordstroms and a local cobbler, we have been able to glue them down which I hope solves the problem. The insole seems to be a much softer material than previous models and sticks too much to the bare foot.

These are great shoes. It is hard, most times, for me to find a size 15, in this style but both Sperry and Zappos are the place to go. Thanks!

I love these shoes overall. The outside looks great, the soles are very good at not slipping in wet conditions, the lining feels VERY soft on bare feet, and they feel really comfortable. However, after wearing it only once, I noticed that the footbed lining was curling at the edges and revealing the red foam padding underneath, which was crumbling on the edges. I don't know that this is anything more than growing pains that will die out as the shoe adjusts to my foot, and it won't cause me to stop wearing the shoes, but it is a potential issue. Also, fair warning, this shoe runs very big for its size, as do my other Sperry shoes. I usually wear a 9 in other brands, but I could easily wear an 8 in these.

I have worn the non-ASV version of his shoe for several years. Just acquired a pair of this model in Amaretto, 9.5 W. I find the ASV model to be less comfortable - the sole feels much harder in walking. The tread pattern has changed as well. Instead of the Vibram sole with the classic Sperry sipes cut in, the soles have little hexagon nubs instead. Prefer the older model.

Very happy with the style of the shoes really top notch. The heel upper needs to get a little wear as I find it digging into my ankle a tad Which is why I dropped the comfort a bit. Very impressed with the packaging and detailing.

This is my second pair and the only complaint is not being able to keep the shoe laces tied. Any suggestions?

A fine shoe, but just too expensive- - Rockport is the main competitor, and their best is also very good, and available in "wide"

good quality, they tend to run a bit wide, somewhat costly compared to other shoes-wish it had a bit more arch support-a common problem with boat shoes

Bought this shoe around christmas, trying to step it up a little shoe wise. It fits great, and looks amazing; however, the leather is a little too stiff, and it scratches way too easily. Most of the scratches are easily removed by applying lotion daily to the shoe. Very good shoe overall. Would be perfect if there were more movement in the shoe, and I wasn't worried about scratching the shoe all the time because of the price.
