I absolutely love these boots! I never want to take them. I would recommend these to anyone who is looking for exceptionally well made boots.

I purchased my first pair of these boots in 2001 for a voyage to Antarctica. They performed excellently! The only issue is that the zipper has a difficult time zipping sometimes. However, these boots are absolutely 100% waterproof. Zipper is waterproof. They are very comfortable. I've hiked up to 6 miles in them. No problem. The leather interior is surprisingly warm. There have been occasions where I've had water over the top of the boot, with the leather getting a bit wet. It survived very well, and has not deteriorated in any way. I have used these boots on a great many expedition voyages, both Antarctic and Arctic. They are worth every single penny.

Love these all-weather boots! The rubber is like butter and the inside is so smooth. I've wide calves and I think my ankle are wide too (yikes!), so I had to use the old technique and wrap one foot in a plastic bag to get them in. Don't regret buying them, but wished I bought the green instead.

I would love to have kept this boot, with its wonderful leather lining, but unfortunately, the size was too small (I did not need to order a size lower, as it turned out). I also ordered a Vierzon, same size, which fits perfectly - no foot slippage, I can tuck my jeans in, it is very slim and looks great! Can't wait to try them out hunting in the bogs!!

I am so impressed by these boots! I've had pair of much-loved Hunters for about 7-8 years that I've abused on a fairly regular basis, and I was actually looking to get another pair in a different color when I saw the reviews that they're made in China?! Honestly, I don't care that much about where they're made as long as they're durable and can withstand some sloggin' and sloshin' in the rain and mud. After reading all of those reviews, I decided to do some research on a different brand. It came down to either Le Chameau or Aigle. I have somewhat wide calves, 15", and I almost always have trouble pulling on any kind of boots. Originally I was looking for the Le Chameau Vierzon because I figured the pull at the top of the boot would make life easy for me, but I just could not find my size in any color I wanted. I was worried about the calf size also because everyone was talking about how slim-fitted they are. So because of the zipper, I ended up ordering the Chasseur as soon as my size became available, and I have absolutely no regrets and no buyer's remorse -- after all, I will put these through everything I subjected my Hunters to. Yes, they're very expensive even on sale, but I know I will put some mileage on them. Since deciding on sizing was very difficult, here are some notes for you to consider. My Hunters were made in Scotland (yes, I checked!) and so the sizing may be different to what it is now. I normally wear a size 7 (US) shoe, and 37.5 (EU) shoe. Yes, that translates to a 7.5 for US sizes. Now here's the confusing part: Le Chameau's sizing runs at least a half size to a full size larger. For me, I am going to say a full size larger. I had to go with a 6 in these, which on Le Chameau's box translates to a EU 37. Yes, I know! So my new Le Chameau Chasseurs are a size 6 and EU37. How do they compare in size to my Hunters? Remember, my Hunters are made in Scotland and judging from what other reviewers said, sizing is different now. To make things easier on you, here are some comparisons between my Hunters and my Le Chameaus: Both are size 6 (I normally wear a 7); shaft (the area from the front part of the ankle to the top of the boot) of Le Chameau is 13" while shaft of Hunter is 12"; height of Le Chameau from ground to top of boot is 14" while Hunter is 13"; girth of widest part of Le Chameau is 15.75" while Hunter is 14.75"; both are 10" in length from back of heel to toebox; and the width is also the same. I put one boot on each leg for comparison on how they felt: both felt like they weighed the same, which is very light; there seems to be more foot padding in Le Chameau as opposed to my Hunters although the Hunters were always comfortable; both are extremely soft and flexible; and the Le Chameau came up almost to me knee while the Hunter were an inch shorter. Hunter had the slimmer silhouette, and despite what others said about Le Chameau having a slim silhouette, I don't know if they were talking about the Vierzon or one of the other models, but Le Chameau didn't look as slim to me as my old Hunters. Also, I'm 5'4 so these boots are a good bit of boots for me, but that's okay, they are that nice! They still come to just under my knees. Zipper zips up and down fairly easily, but it is slight stiff. I'm thinking this is probably because the zipper is hidden behind the flaps of the rubber (zoom in to see what I'm talking about). I think this only makes for a really well-constructed pair of boots and so I don't think the zipper will be wearing out anytime soon. Looking at the quality of both boots, I couldn't really tell which one was better. My Hunters are older, have had years of use, and the rubber heel has barely worn down. Comparing this with the heel on the Le Chameau, I expect they'll last a long time as well. If you're trying to decide, just get 'em! You won't be sorry! If you like the Aigle, I did some research on those as well and I'd recommend them too!

Great boot, but runs rather narrow in the foot bed and the calf is huge. I have fairly big calves too, so I was disappointed in that fact. I needed these for gardening, puddle tromping, etc... but there's NO WAY crud and water will stay out of the gaping space. I'm going for the Vierzons now. They have an adjustable buckle on the calf. I wish I could have those in leather lined, but my fingers are crossed i'll just find a good pair of wellies! I can deal with the foot width, but not the calf width. (I'm a 6.5/7, and the 37's were perfectly sized.) I gave them 3 stars for style because they are pretty ugly. I don't care what a royal wears, but honestly, they make you look bow legged. So if you actually ARE bow legged, do not buy these if style is what you're looking for! However, they are made that way so walking is easy and nothing rubs together as you walk.

I love my Le Chameau boots. I do wish I would have gotten the one's with the zipper, because pulling mine off is a bear. However, they are extremely comfortable, stylish & sturdy.

First off, let me just thank Zappos for the outstanding customer service. I've exchanged so many boots before I settled for these Chasseurs. If it weren't for Zappos, I would have never found my forever rain boots! Secondly, these boots are AMAZING. Handmade in France, you can definitely tell the quality of these boots just by the looks, the smell, and how solid it feels. Yes, it is quite expensive, but it will last! In fact, before coming across Le Chameau, I was thinking of getting Hunters. Luckily I did my research and decided to up my budget to purchase these boots for all I hear are positive things. Also, these boots are considerably more expensive than the other Le Chameau models because this model in particular (along with the Vierzon leather) are made in France. Le Chameau also has a factory down in Morocco were most of the cheaper models are made. But regardless of what model you end up with, Le Chameau is a solid company. You will totally get your money's worth, especially with these Chasseurs!

I am looking for the perfect pair of Wellies. I like the look of Hunter, but because they are no longer made in the UK but China, their quality has gone to crap. Le Chameau is it, it is just a matter of which one. I have decided on Le Chameau Womens VierzoNord Rain Boots "Nord" being the key bc they are warmer but not with fur but neoprene. so good for Cold and rain. Kate the Dutchess wears Le Chameau, and I think she has the finger on the pulse as to what is good :)

Beautiful! Very well made! I read every review looking for sizing information and still didn't get it right. So I will try next size but I'm afraid it will be too big? Will let you know. I am exactly a size 8 and the 7 though I got my foot in, would give me ingrown toenail in a weeks time. No socks!

This is a great rain/mud boot! I love that the interior is leather and not rubber. The calf is very large though so I had to return it. Runs large - order a 1/2 size smaller.

I received these boots as a gift for Christmas. They were true to size, BUT, I find them too wide at the top of the boot. There's plenty of room for jeans or pants tucked in, but they bow out so far on the upper calf that it makes me look super bow-legged, and there is too much boot to wear my boot-cut jeans on the outside. I have a couple of friends who wear them all the time, a man and a woman, and they absolutely LOVE them, but they are both 6' tall and I'm only 5'4". In short, I love the boot, love the leather lining and natural rubber and I've always wanted them, but they are too much boot for my height and frame. They're going back, which I'm sad about.
