THERE IS A DIFFERENCE between the veronica short and the veronica shortie. I just called Frye and asked. the shortie has a shorter shaft and different style of leather. I told the customer service lady that I have read reviews that stated they were the same boot just "renamed" and she said that that was most definitely incorrect.

I have been looking for boots that I could wear multiple ways (with a dress, leggings, pants) and these are the boots that I chose. I wanted them to be able to slide on easily without difficulty because I am busy running after two small children and do not have time to fuss with too tight boots. These were perfect. The bronze color is beautiful and can compliment the main neutrals (grey, brown, black) really well. I love that versatility. The only negative is that the heel slips on wet surfaces. I need to buy a heel gripper for the bottom of the shoes.

Very disappointed in this product. I ordered three pairs that were all defective before deciding to go with a Frye boot that is made in the USA. Heads up, the Veronica Short as well as many of the Frye "fashion" styles are made in Mexico. The quality difference between the domestic and foreign products are night and day, and at this price, simply not acceptable to me. My USA made Frye Engineer 8R boots are amazing though!

I just wrote a review for the Veronica Shortie. Here is what I have to say...I have been comparing the two and driving myself nut's trying to decide which one to get. Zappos state's the shaft height is the difference between the two. I called The Frye Company directly and they said that THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE! The name was just changed. SO, if you have been wondering which to get... to go a half inch shorter or taller...debate no more! They are EXACTLY THE SAME in the shaft and the fit! Zappos just has the wrong info. posted. They are so WONDERFUL and AMAZING, I know they will update this! Hope this helps!

Ok, decided I wanted a pair of Frye Veronica boots, first order was for the Veronica Shorties in the dark brown stone wash. Frye boots are notoriously hard to break in, so I wanted something a little roughed up. I am a 7 to a 7.5, so I ordered the 7.5, figuring winter coming and thick socks and all. Boots arrived, and boy was I disappointed in the way they looked and felt. The leather was like smooth, dusty old vinyl, the color a dull waxy grayish tinged brown. They certainly did not look like they cost three hundred dollars, and nowhere near as nice as the photo. Zappos has the most wonderful customer service and return policy, so I looked over the Veronica Shortie and Short choices again, and figured I would try the above pictured Veronica SHORT (there is a difference, however small) in a different finish - the dark brown stone antique. NOW I am happy! The leather is richer and more supple, not a smooth and fake looking, and while still stone washed, it retains that glow that new leather has, and the boots are a warmer toned brown color. The shaft is higher, the heel is higher, and over all it is a heavier more substantial boot, and has the look of a boot in it's price category. I also sized up to an 8. Put them on the minute they arrived, and they are already comfy, with a little extra room to stretch and leave some space for thicker socks. Thanks Zappos, as always, you guys are wonderful - I will be a customer for life!

I purchased these boots a little over a year ago. I was very hesitant about them because there were reviews saying they were uncomfortable and too tight/stiff. Personally, I'm someone whose feet often ache in my shoes- whether it is boots or sneakers or flip flops. I think it's my arches are too low or something. I wear a 7.5 with a wide ball, narrow heel, and wide calves, and the 7.5 fits perfectly. These are, hands-down, the most comfortable shoes I own. Even out of the box, they were supportive but not stiff, and I can wear them all day long without my feet getting sore. The upper part of the boot is soft but not too slouchy, so it keeps its shape but doesn't rub my calf at all. The heel has a nice weight so the boot feels substantial but not too heavy, and it has a nice "clop" as I walk. Just a beautiful, quality pair of boots, and my favorite shoes to wear.

These boots are like butter. Absolutely gorgeous leather, in a color that goes with everything (cognac stone antiqued). I ordered 1/2 size up, as others suggested, and they fit perfectly. I'm a big lover of Frye boots, and have found that these are much more comfortable out of the box than some of the other styles. The rounded toe box is a bit wider than the campus and harness styles (great for me, because I've had to have the others stretched by a cobbler to achieve a true fit). The cost was high for me (for a pair of boots), but I tend to use things until they're no longer useable, so, knowing Frye quality, I plan on having these forever. If you're on the fence - go for it! Truly a beautiful, made-to-last boot. And great Zappos service, of course!

I have this boot, got it on sale here at Zappos about ten years ago. It is the Engineer 12 r w, which is a little more industrial looking. Anyway, absolutely love them. The finish is really cool, never have to polish or shine them up. Just rinse off and lubricate the leather soles and you're good to go. I have them on as I'm writing this!

I thought these were going to be the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. I put them on and was truly disappointed. They felt tight around the toe area, my heel slipped against the hard back, and there is absolutely no arch support. I'm sure the leather needs to be broken in and after time I'm sure it would happen but my feet would be ruined trying.

I ordered these in 3 sizes due to people saying they stretched out. I ended up with my true shoe size of 8.5 for these. They relaxed after a couple wears into the perfect fit and I wore them a ton. I hope to have these for years to come.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these boots! I've been searching for ages for a comfortable stylish boot at this height. Finally found it! When the boots arrived, they were tight, not comfy at all. And my heal slipped. I read thru customer reviews and multiple people reported noticing the same situation when the boots were brand new. I read over and over again that Frye boots need to be broken in, so I kept them. Breaking in only took one day. Have faith! Now I absolutely love them .. comfortable, stylish, just the right amount of presence so that they're cool without being clunky or too over the top. Beautiful leather, very well made. I just went back to Zappos and bought them in a second color. Absolutely adore these boots!

Love this boot! 10 fits like a dream on my 9.5 wide feet. Required some breaking in to accommodate the bunion on my right foot. Leather foot liner keeps coming unglued, but other than that I have zero complaints.

Gorgeous boots! I was hesitant to keep because of the heel slippage combined with the cost. But I read to break them in two weeks with thick socks and also adjust the buckle. So far so good. I also was concerned because other reviewers complained about the quality since now being made in Mexico. I can assure you the quality is good. They are also authentic because I called and verified that Zappos is an authorized retailer of Frye. Frye has a year warranty if the boots do not meet standards. I have wanted a pair of Frye boots my entire life. These are beauties.

Beautiful boot- all leather (and smells great!). Made in Mexico, but seems like great quality (despite an earlier post). These are my first Frye boots and they do have a break-in period. I went with my regular size (8) and although they seemed tight in the toes, I feel them loosening up and they are becoming extremely comfortable. I like the nonslip soles, but not sure why the heel slips? Otherwise, love them! (And love the discounted price on Zappos!)

I bought the same pair of Frye boots (except in brown) years ago. I remember they stretch so if they’re slightly tight, just keep wearing them, they’ll end up fitting your foot like a glove! I have been really wanting a black pair and finally got them on sale. They are just as amazing as my first pair and they last forever - I actually think they get better with age. :)

I am a true size 8M, I have a wide toe box, deep arch and narrow at my heel. As with all of my Frye boots I order my true size and they are a bit tight at first and then stretch out to fit like a glove. Believe me that they will be worth it after you wear them several times!!

Oh my! These are the cutest Boots! To say they are well made is not enough and the price here at Zappos is FANTASTIC!! Right now the Veronica Short at Frye.com they are $ 229.00 on sale, WOW! I am a solid 8 1/2 and my feet are on the wide side but no worries, I unbuckled them and with a little effort my foot snuggled right in and you can tell with the quality leather they will conform with your foot! I would say they are very true to size. They are as soft as butter and have all the Frye quality built in these boots! I got them in Cognac and am so happy with the color. They are in no way on the burgundy side like the picture on my laptop but instead a beautiful rich true brown with some darkening on the toe and heel, they are very feminine and look awesome with my skinny jeans. There is a difference in the Frey Veronica Short which these are, they have a 9"shaft and the Veronica Shortie is about an inch shorter. These are the perfect height to me not a tall boot, not a mid boot, but are in between the mid and the bootie, PERFECT! You know the second you see them that they are top of the line and they just look expensive! If you are considering these, get them! I am gonna love mine for years and years, they are made to last! Thank you Zappos for the price, the excellent service and the super fast shipping, I am now a life time customer!

I got the dark brown soft vintage leather. Yes, they are awesome. I do own another pair of Frye boots, and I am equally as pleased with this purchase the first. There is nothing than can top the smell of real leather and true craftsmanship. They run half a size big, but not to the point where I want to return and size down (same with my first pair). I like having the option to wear a heavier sock on colder days. The quality can not be matched. Everything about them screams quality and endurance. I love them. They are a true staple for a woman of fashion's wardrobe.

I felt like I was too old to suffer in shoes that weren't really comfortable, but these boots have shown that to be not true. These boots are really terrific looking. They're a lot more feminine and refined than the photo would suggest, and the leather is of very nice quality. I like the height and overall, how they go look with straight jeans or a skirt. With all that said, I had a lot of trouble getting the right fit on these, and they still aren't the most comfortable shoes in my closet -- I love them for how they look, not how they feel. My husband bought me my normal size, 8.5, for Christmas. I almost cried from pain when I tried them on -- they were so short that my heel was rubbing up against the back, and the wider part of my foot was so compressed that my toes lost feeling in about a minute. (I have, on occasion, chosen a W over the M, so the width issue wasn't as much of a surprise as the length.) We called Zappos and in a day (yes, Zappos is incredible!!), a 9 had arrived. They felt better, although still a bit narrow. I kept wearing them (when I didn't have too much walking to do), and they have stretched out. (My last pair of Fryes ultimately conformed to my foot, and I suspect these will too. The leather is beautiful, but not really supple.) They feel better as the day goes on but never amazing. It'd be great if Frye made these in a wide.

I have the "Veronica Shortie" in the slate color and absolutely love them. I'm now interested in trying these. I would like to point out, however--in reference to an earlier review by another reviewer--that there actually is a discernible difference between the "Veronica Shortie" and the "Veronica Short," and that is the sole. The "Veronica Short" is a bit more rugged.

These boots fit me but are do seem small for the size. I wear a ten and they barely fit. The next size up was much too big so I am toughing it out but for for the price I wish I had a better fit. Also, they have a narrow toe box.

These boots are really cute and well made, but I'm a size 8, ordered an 8, but these were far too narrow. The sides of my foot were being squeezed. I don't normally need a wide width. They weren't comfortable enough to grit my teeth and wear to wear in. Returned.

My absolute favorite pair of boots! The shaft is just a little slouchy, which I love. The footbed is comfy and the leather is beautiful. Frye boots are my favorite for style and quality. Comfy right out of the box and even more so as your foot sinks into the footbed over time. I've gotten so many compliments on these boots.

Felt stiff out of the box- wore around the house for 15 minutes and they softened. Felt perfect- wore all day yesterday on my feet on concrete floor and felt great- look awesome with leggings.
