What a great bag this is. I purchased for my mom who just moved into "assisted living." The bright red is perfect - her favorite color, and she can spot it easily, compared to either black or brown, her "usual" handbag colors (old school mom!). Lots of pockets inside and out. Round rubbery Zipper pulls that are easy for her to maneuver. Choice of carrying straps to suit her needs. Best of all, it's lightweight compared to her previous leather bag. The size is great, too - not too big, not too small. Actually, she told me to find a bag she can "fish" inside of and so this medium Kipling bag fits the bill. She received many compliments on the first day she used it. Very happy, all in all!

I love this bag. I have it in 2 colors and am buying it in a third. I love the smaller shoulder straps (the cross body one, I removed). I love the exterior zippered pockets - one outside for my cell phone, one for my camera (I don't want a camera phone), the large zippered compartment on the other side for sun and reading glasses. And one on the width area, that can be used for a bottle of water! Great zippered interior area and key fob. It's the perfect bag for me. Zappos has more color choices than the official Kipling website, even! I love Zappos, their products, their customer service, their overnight delivery. Zappos is the greatest!

I am really pleased with this handbag. I like everything about it. The pewter color goes with everything and there is plenty of room and compartments for all that I carry. The outside pockets are readily accessible. I especially like that I can wipe it off.

I have 3 Kipling Defeas in different colors. The Defea is how I got started in liking the Kipling brand. Great quality purse. Very sturdy. The pockets and the long keychain key holder in the purse are great. This purse because of being well made and shoulder strap being heavy, is not for someone that is looking for a lighter weight purse. Just recently I discovered the " KIPLING EUROPA ". which has the same great pockets, and same great kipling quality, yet is lighter weight. I still use my Defeas when I don't have much to carry in my purse, yet want something dressier, yet I use my KIPLING EUROPA when I want a purse that is a bit more casual, lighter weight with the same fuctionality of the Defea.

I'm not a massive fan of Kiping Bags in general but I love this particular bag. A fair few years ago I bought on Ebay a Kipling Baby Bag (style discontinued) which looks almost exactly like the Defea. Only differences being that the baby bag has stroller attachments. It was brilliant and washed up fantastically well. I ended up leaving it in our UK home when we moved state side to use during our frequent visit back. On arrival in the US I bought a new Defea to serve as my full time baby bag. It's great, not too large but also not too small. I have other baby bags and I do swap them out but I always come back to the Defea. I never have to worry about spills or snacks getting loose as the bag just pops in the washer and air dries really quickly. It comes out looking perfect. I'm very tempted to buy a Vintage Look Defea next time I'm back in the UK as they are super cute for a casual look. Such a shame for all the US Kipling Fans that you don't get the ranges of color ways available in the UK as some of the limited edition stuff is very funky.

I love this purse! This is my first Kipling purchase and I am really pleasantly surprised at the quality of the materials and construction. The size of this is really deceiving. From the outside, it looks like a medium-sized bag but it has so many compartments you can fit A TON of stuff in it. My previous bag was a Petal to the Metal Natasha from Marc Jacobs, and that bag was stuffed to the BRIM! When I transferred over all my stuff into the Defea I was shocked at how much room I had left! You could definitely use this as a small diaper bag or a weekender. I bought this bag in vibrant pink and the color is AWESOME in person, and it's surprisingly wearable. It perfectly straddles the line between fancy and casual. It's just a really great looking, super functional bag. I also bought the matching Raffie wallet, and the small cosmetics pouch. Love em all!

Room for everything! My current "everyday" bag is a Fossil fabric satchel that has numerous zippable compartments that I'd grown to rely on. Unfortunately it's getting a bit shabby, so I started the Great Purse Quest. It had to have lots of separate places that could be securely close-able, and it had to have a cross-body strap because I like slinging my purse and not having to worry about it sliding off my shoulder. I first ordered a Billabong Safe With Me bag and a Kipling Fairfax bag that met all those - but when they arrived I found I really disliked the Billabong, and there were things I didn't love about the Fairfax either. So back to the website, and the Defea looked like it met my requirements almost perfectly. It arrived, I tried piling all my "love to carry around" stuff in it, and it all fit perfectly with plenty of room. That included a larger-than-average wallet, a large zipper cosmetic bag, a wad of charging cables (iPod, phone, ereader), the phone, the iPod, and a rather heavy ereader. It all fit! I then proceeded to lug it all around town, doing touristy activities, and it was amazingly comfortable to lug. OK, it would have been better if I'd left the ereader behind but that's my fault, not the bag's! I got the neon purple color. It looks more like a bright blue on the website (possibly an artifact of my monitor, or possibly a photography issue). But, the color is listed as "neon" so I wasn't completely surprised when it arrived and yeah, it's purple. Very purple. Which makes it fun for me (and humiliates my teenage daughter to be seen with me, but that's an added bonus!), but be warned if that's not what you're looking for. About the only thing I don't love is the style. I mean, it's fun-looking, but I wouldn't carry it to a job interview. But for everyday toting, this bag can't be beat!

Oh, how I love this bag! I had spent lots of money on a Baggalini that just didn't give me the interior space like this one does. The outside pockets are roomy but the interior one is awesome! I got a purse organizer for the interior and makes this purse even more user friendly. I like that the strap is cloth, it doesn't slip off my shoulder and then there is the versatility of the handles. And the color? Wow, it is bright blue but more of a blue purple and it is great. My only negative is the back zip pocket is about a half inch to short to put my tablet in. Fortunately there is plenty of interior room for it. I have been looking for the perfect purse for a long time. I am not a purse person and would never thought I would spend this much on a purse. After the Baggalini not working I was reluctant to try again, but this time it is the perfect fit.

I love this bag! I got it in warm gray. It's the perfect size. I felt it was awkward with the long strap so I took it off and use the handles so its like a clutch.

This bag is amazing. As a mom of two kids, I need lots of space and pockets and this bag is perfect. I researched many bags and finally decided on this one. It is perfect and the pink color is amazing! Ordered it on Wednesday afternoon and had it by Friday!

This is a very cute and extremely functional bag, especially for travel! I have very expensive designer bags but none of them feel as comfortable and functional as this one. I love all the external pockets and that it is so spacious inside. Great bag!

The bag is hugely roomy - can get my iPad in there - and has an excellent number of pockets and compartments. The nice wide one on the back (that faces the body) will hold my passport and travel documents.

Great bag! Lots of space and pockets for easy access. Compact enough to use as an everyday bag, but with enough room to carry more for commuting or holding diapers, etc.

I love this bag! I put my cellphone in side pocket for easy reach and the ample pockets on front and back hold items I don't want to search for. I found the black coated Kipling Defea bag at TJMaxx for $49.00. Now, that's a bargain!

I honestly love the purse. It has lots of room and lots of pockets, plus it is lightweight. It's roomy and can hold all my junk that I think I need to bring along. And it seems sturdy and the zippers seem strong enough to take all the rough stuff that I am going to put it through. The only thing that I do not like about the purse is the price. I think it could and should be a bit cheaper. I do not know if I would buy another one at that price. Otherwise, I would have given it five stars.

I purchased this bag to use for an upcoming trip in purse in pearl white and ended up returning it. I think I would have liked it a lot better in a different color. I purchased a different Kipling bag for my trip. What I liked about the bag: 1) The long strap was actually long enough for me to use as a cross-body, which I loved bc I am a plus size (1-2x) and often cross-body straps just aren't long enough 2) The long strap was easily adjustable, yet held its position when worn 3) the extra pockets on the front were great 4) It holds LOTS of stuff, which would have been great for my trip. 5) the gorilla is super cute 6) the bag is SO light weight What I didn't like about the bag: 1) the white pearl finish was soiled from pigment transfer from my clothes the very first time I used it (the blue jeans weren't even new!) 2) It is bulky from front-to-back: Since I am plus-sized, it was awkward to wear over the shoulder or as a cross-body and the shorter, handle-style straps were too short for me to use as shoulder straps. 3) My tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1) didn't fit in the bag as well as I would like. The tablet is essentially the same size as the bag. I ended up pushing it against the back wall of the bag which made the bag unbalanced to carry.
