I started working from home in September, and it quickly became apparent that my LL Bean Wicked Good Slippers had Wicked Bad arch support. I have very high arches, and wearing flat slippers as primary footwear quickly led to a painful tendon inflammation that had me waking up in the middle of the night. In desperation, I went hunting for slippers with proper support and found these. Since I got these slippers last month, I've basically lived in them. I wear them all day, almost every day of the week. I'm wearing them as I write this review. They're outstanding. My tendon issue disappeared within days of putting them on, and I haven't looked back. I can't recommend these slippers highly enough, but know what you're getting into: these offer comfort in the European style; much like the seats in a BMW or Mercedes, comfort means firm support and proper ergonomic alignment, not the pillowy softness Americans generally associate with comfort. If you buy these expecting that, you will be sad. If you buy these expecting the cork-latex support of a Birkenstock footbed, you'll be as thrilled as I am. Bonus: the heathered color hides dirt and stains exceptionally well, which is a huge plus for home cooks. They're obviously not as warm as shearling-lined slippers, but with socks on you should be just fine through an East Coast winter. Your feet do a lot for you. Isn't it time you did something nice for them? Buy these.

Awwwww.... I was so excited to order these slippers as I NEED arch support (I have very high arches)and I thought: This is it! Finally found slippers with support! I REALLY didn't want to pay such a high price for slippers, but I broke down, as I need the support, plus I have hard, cold, stone tile floors. The slippers I received (Veitsch, in Ocean color) looked great out of the box. Beautiful construction. I put them on and they felt a little too short. My toes came right to the tip of the slipper. The feel of the slipper was superb as far as the arch support was concerned. I normally wear a size 9 Medium in womens (US). I ordered size 40 (EUR) in this slipper. I have a pair of clogs made by Mephisto in Euro size 40 which I absolutely adore, and so I was sure this would be the right size to order. Then I started walking around in them and the back lip of the slipper kept slipping off my heel, and as I walked, that lip tucked itself under my heel. I so wanted these to work, but for the price it is unacceptable for the slipper to do this. I will try another style, not the clog style. I'm not sure if the slipper is just too short, or if it is the style. Size 41 in this style is sold out, so I will order something else. Sigh.....

I was reluctant to spend so much on slippers, but I don't wear shoes in the house and I can't go barefoot anymore. I desperately needed a good pair of house shoes to give me support and comfort for my plantar fasciitis, high arches, and bunions (I'm in my 30s, but my feet feel much older). These definitely fit the bill--the arch support is fantastic, and my bunions and toes don't feel squished. I've been wearing them non-stop for two days now, and my feet feel great. I do have custom orthodics, but I am thrilled that I won't have to switch them back and forth between my street shoes and slippers--the insole of these slippers is perfect (you can also buy replacement insoles if they wear out!). I wear a US 7.5, so I ordered both the 38 and 39 to try on. The 38 fits like a glove, although a bit snug with socks on (I read in other reviews that they stretch a tad over time, so I'm hoping by the time it gets really cold here I will be able to wear socks with them). The 39 gave me a bit more breathing room, but the arch support did not hit me in the right spot.

These are the classic German house shoes, as my friend who lived in Germany explained. They provide more support than many regular slippers. They offer great arch support, have a sturdy but lightweight sole, and breathable wool. These are the finest slippers that I have found in all the land!

For reference, I have “average” US women’s 7.5M feet and always a size 38 in Birkenstocks. Can occasionally wear a 7 in ballet flats. Based on reviews, ordered size 39 in grey. Although not uncomfortable, when foot pushed to front of shoe, there was a good nearly 1/2 in. gap in the back. Worried that these would stretch out and become too big, I ordered size 38 in blue. They are perfection! Such a far cry from the sloppy, generic, cheaply made, unsupportive slippers I’m used to receiving during the holidays. Although I was worried they may be a little snug at first, the 38s literally melted into my foot within a few hours of wear and I couldn’t be happier. They are perfection, with or without socks. I could see how these may seem to run small for folks that prefer a roomier slipper or wear really thick socks. To my way of thinking though, these are a consistent size 38. I really love the fact that they are also washable and you can purchase a replacement insole. A warm, comfortable, supportive, non-disposable house shoe? Yes, please—I’m a fan!!

I saw all the remarks about great arch support and asked "Santa" for a pair. They are amazing! I haven't taken them off since Christmas. The arch support is outstanding. I have had plantar fasciitis in both feet and just can't wear anything without good support. These slippers are excellent. The other thing I like is that my feet don't sweat in the shoes. So often in a slipper similar to this, my feet sweat and are therefor cold all the time. Not so with these. No need to wear socks. The felt really works to keep feet warm and dry. I LOVE these and would recommend them to everyone. Good Santa ordered two pair -- one size 40 and one size 41. I wear between a 9 1/2 and 10 in most shoes. The 41s were the right fit. 40s were too short.

I can't say enough good things about this slipper. I have tried and tried to find a supportive slipper due to severe plantar fasciitis in my left foot. Theses arrived yesterday. I took off my LL Bean slipper/clogs and put these on. The relief was literally immediate. I no longer dread walking on my hard wood floors, cooking dinner, etc. They are pricey but worth every penny! I am size 10 and purchased a 42 based on prior reviews. They fit perfectly. Highly recommend!

Overall I am disappointed by this shoe because the top layer of suede lining on the footbed detached. I had been wearing the shoes daily (only indoors as slippers) for not even a month before the top layer began sliding out of place, which exposed the sticky adhesive underneath. Very unpleasant feeling :( Maybe I just received a defective pair since I didn't see any other reviews mentioning this. Aside from that problem, I really enjoyed these shoes. Working from home means I am wearing these slippers for upwards of 16 hours a day and while these were expensive, it made sense since I would be wearing them so often. I only wear them inside but wanted a rubber sole, which I loved because it was durable and easily cleanable. I have an average-to-low arch so the insole provided fantastic support. I'm recovering from ankle tendonitis and this shoe provided a lot of relief and support. I wear a US Women's 10.5/11 so I purchased the size 42 (which is the same size I wear for my Dansko clogs). The first few days felt incredibly snug with my socks (just regular low-cut cotton socks, average thickness) and I was considering returning them. But I saw reviews mentioning that the shoes did stretch a bit and within a week, the shoes reached the perfect fit with my socks.

The Geisswein Veitsch is a high quality slipper. Since the upper is made of wool , this slipper is most suitable for cold climate temperatures. I wear mine to quickly warm up cold feet. Or, if it is cold inside the house I wear the slippers to attain, and maintain, foot warmth. The fit width and depth of this slipper is geared towards the average female foot, or narrow width-shallow instep height male foot. The length fit of this slipper is typical with most USA brand sizing. Birksenstock sandal and clog wearers may like this slipper, because (similar to Birkenstock) the Giesswein Veitsch offers pronounced arch support. For width sizing, the Veitsch is most comparable to a Birkenstock narrow width. For length sizing, a 44 Birksenstock is about the same length as a Geisswein Veitsch size 45.

Sweet little slipper keeps my toes toasty on top of a supportive sole. I love these! They run big. I usually wear an 8 (39) but in these the 7 (38) is what fits. I have a slightly wide forefoot because of bunions. This shoe is roomy enough and there's space for my toes to wiggle too. It comes with a densely cush footbed but easily accommodates my own orthotics. Just about perfect!

I have been wearing Haflinger slippers for years and love them, but I recently developed plantar fasciitis and needed more support. I bought a pair of Giessweins and so far they have been just what I was looking for. Two things to consider: In Haflinger and other European shoes, I wear a size 37. I had read reviews that these run small, so I ordered a 39 and they fit perfectly. The other problem is that they have rubber soles unlike my felted sole Hanglingers and I keep forgetting they are slippers and continually wear them on errands.

The other reviews were very helpful, which resulted in me ordering a size 42, which fits perfectly! I normally wear a size 10 (women's) or a size 41 in Mephistos and Danskos. The arch support is exactly what I needed for my foot problems.

I'm very pleased. These Giesswein slippers are lovely, soft wool, even at the instep, the soles don't mark, and they do feel nice with or without socks. European sizing can vary a lot with the brand, so I have both size 37 and 38 in my closet. The 38 was perfect for my 7B foot. One caution: The arch is very hard, which is o.k. if it hits your foot right. However, if you're unhappy with that, another insole, or orthotic will substitute for the original. I also appreciate the look; my feet look small in these. Bring on winter!

These would be wonderful is they were narrower. Much too wide, maybe a D width. If you have wide feet, they would be ideal.

Happy Heaven on my feet! I never want to take them off, seriously! I generally wear a women's size US 8.5 so I purchased the size 9 US/EU 40 and they're perfect barefoot or with a not too thick sock. Even the heels fit fine which I was a bit concerned about - since these slippers have a heel "lip", I don't need or want the heels to fit closely and yet, even though they're a 1/2 size up from my normal shoe size, they don't flop on my feet. I bought them in the "anthrasite" color - a darkish mottled grey and the color is great, too. I do a lot of cooking and have already had a few minor kitchen liquid splashes and just wiped them clean with no discernable color changes. I can't say enough positive things about them. I've been searching for washable slippers with arch support and I'm just in heaven! They are worth every penny. Very well made. I'm now going to buy a pair for my husband! (We have all tile floors in our home so the combo of support and warmth that breathes is marvelous!)

This is the most comfortable slipper I have ever worn. Sizing is generous but not oversized. Like the "life" commercial, "Try it you'll like it!" The footbed is so soft, better than other Giesswein models. I , e.g. Voerde, though review suggest the Vent is built on same last. Bottom line: great slipper.

A but snug, if you want to wear socks with these slippers go up a half size, maybe a full size if you like thick wool sox. Great slippers for around the house, well made, comfy arch support. They will break in over time. They’re more like a shie than a slipper, warm though the footbed is like a Birkenstock.

Wow, these slippers were expensive, but worth it! Remove the supportive insoles, and you can machine wash. I didn't need as much arch support as these offered most of the time, purchased a pair of sheepskin insoles for winter - just wonderful. Will likely switch to less warm insoles in summer. Clearly well made, expect these last for many years.

I love the Giesswein slippers but will be returning these for a different size. I bought the boiled wool ones last year and heeded advice found in the reviews and ordered 1 size smaller. Fit was perfect. Very comfy. I wanted a firmer footbed and ordered my regular size in the Veitsch and they are too small. The toe box is very cramped. Will either reorder one size larger or another pair of the comfy boiled wool slippers.

These are the most comfortable house does I have ever owned. I developed plantar fasciitis in one foot and had surgery for Hallux Rigidus in the other so over gone through a few different brands until I found these. The last pair were Birkenstocks that were too wide with bare feet and the felt upper disintegrated in a very short time. The fit for me as a 9 1/2 D was great with a 43. At first this was a little tight with bare feet and too small with socks but they have quickly stretched to fit perfectly.

After suffering from excruciating planter fasciitis (BAD like I would at times use a cane because my feet hurt so much) for months and months I started researching slippers. I was so lucky I found these. I spend quite a bit of time home and these Giesswein’s have literally changed my life. I’ve had them for at least 3 years and my foot pain for the most part has disappeared and the slippers are high quality so I expect to have many more years of wear out of them. I also buy very supportive foot wear for outside. Another great shoe is Dansko’s Vibram. I would buy them again without questions.

I have suffered from plantar fasciitis and need to wear slippers in the house. When doing a search for a new pair to replace my Crocs, I came across Geisswein. I love that they are made with eco-sensitive natural materials. I took a chance on buying something well above my price range and I couldn't be happier. Just like the other reviews have mentioned, it takes a while for the insert and outer slipper to conform to your foot. When I first wore them they hurt my feet considerably. The arch was way too high and the wool scratchy. But I noticed after each day it got a little better and now after more than a week I don't even realize I'm wearing them. I was skeptical of the heel side as I don't like my feet rising up out of the slipper but it's a small concession that I can get used to given the overall excellence of the fit/comfort. I was also skeptical of the wool being too warm in the summer but after a day of wear the wool seemed soft and not at all too warm. The slippers are so comfortable and seem very well made. I highly recommend! (Also, EU sizes are not directly comparable with US sizes. I am always a size 6 US, and a 36EU fits me perfectly across different brands, not 37 that they claim is equivalent to US size 6.)

I love these both with and without socks! To find a decent slipper/house shoe with noticeable arch support is a huge win. I disagree slightly with those who say sizing is off. I’m a 7.75-8 and the size chart said 39 and the 39 is lovely. I’m thinking I need to order a pair for my mom, who lives with neuropathy in her feet...

These slippers are awesome. I've had them for about a year. I love the great arch support. They do take a few weeks to break in, when I first got them my socks would get sort of bunched under my foot when I put them on, after a couple of weeks that stopped happening. I bought a pair for my husband too and at first he resisted wearing them, saying he didn't need them, they weren't comfortable, but the cold floors of winter wore him down and got him over the initial breaking in hurdle. Now he loves them and seeks them out to put on when he comes home from work. We'll buy two more pairs when these wear out.

I will add to chorus and say that these shoes are awesome. So worth it. I bought them a year ago, wear them a lot, and they've held up great. They have a firm footbed, as others have mentioned, feel great on my arches and are comfortable all day. I normally wear a 10.5, bought the 11's in these (42 EU), and they're perfect. The heathered patterns hide dirt and wear. Couldn't be happier!
