These boots are exactly as advertised. They are warm and keep your feet nice and dry. They are not fashion boots, but are functional in wet, cold weather. I bought them to wear in England in the spring but I'm test-driving them now in our cold and wet Michigan winter. They do require a breaking-in period. The leather is somewhat stiff at first but in a short time, they conform to the wearer's foot. They are a nice cross between durability and wear-ability.

Additional note to previous review. I just returned from a week of wearing these in England and they were wonderful. I wore them for hours walking in Hyde Park through puddles, horse poo and wind blown rain. If you want a friend for your feet, definitely buy these comfy boots. They were wonderful.

These are some nice looking boots, and the leather is thick and weighty. But I can't get the zipper all the way up as they are so narrow at the top. They do have stretchy sides so with a lot of effort can get them zipped, but then really tight. I do have thicker ankles, so sadly have to send them back.

I really like my Ariat Paddock boots. I like to wear them with jeans and more casual pants, they are easy to get off and on with the zipper in the front, and they are warm, waterproof and comfortable. I am sure to enjoy them for many years to come.

Simple and stylish looking, these are very comfortable for my wide feet. I wore them for a long day recently, and was fine! Top closes pretty snugly around my upper ankle/lower calf, but I have wide-ish calves, that's why. Leather is rather stiff (at least at first), so driving in them takes a little getting used to, but I wouldn't *not* get them because of that. Very comfortable foot bed.

These paddock boots are great! Comfortable right out to the box and are standing up to the mud and slime beautifully. They are comfortable both riding and when we occasionally have to walk the horses across rocks and such.

Love these boots b/c I can ride with them with chaps and then wear them around town with jeans or pants. They are waterproof which are a real plus and being Ariat, their fit is great.

These boots are not wholly waterproof. So don't buy them expecting that. I live, and ride, in an extremely wet place where it rains throughout the year. These shoes let in a very small amount of water at the goring (the stretchy bits at the sides) and quite a lot of water at the zipper. So, while they hold up really well in puddles and ankle-deep mud, they don't take long, wet grass or hosing as well as I'd hoped (perhaps the tongue of the boot isn't waterproofed as well as the rest of the boot?). These boots are also not too-hot and are breathable enough that I can wear them without suffering in 80+(F) degree weather. I can't speak for their durability yet, as I've only had them a week, but they seem like they will hold up with a bit of maintenance and TLC. They clean off really well with a good, direct hosing. As other reviews for these boots have mentioned, they are a little tight around the ankle; however, I have found that this does not bother me and that they have been getting looser with wear. They fit true to Ariat's sizing (in my experience I'm a 7 in all their boots). I have not had any problems with blisters (and I wore these babies for hours the first time out while doing the morning feeding).

This is my second pair of Ariat paddock boots. They are very comfortable & last a long time. I've had my first pair for about 8 years and I still wear them working in the barn. I like that they zip up...no dangling shoe laces.

These are my everyday work boots, riding boots, driving boots. They are very comfortable and clean up nicely, but they are not show boots. They don't shine like English job boots for show ring. I've even gone swimming in the river with my horses and had these boots on! They dried out and were fine. I bathe my horses in them, too. They are all around great boots!

Another fabulous boot from Ariat! My feet are slightly wide (I sometimes order up a half size to accommodate) -- not needed here -- the toe box is ample. This boot is a sleek work boot with a nod to style - but not a fashion boot. For Chicago winters, long walks with the dog and riding - absolutely perfect. I love Ariat's solid construction - no rolling around yet has a comfort footbed. The collar is tight, the leather stiff. I was just able to get it on thanks to the zipper (high arch / instep). After four days of use they are breaking in nicely - the leather definitely softened up. These will last years.

These are beautiful! True fit for me anyway. They're perfect for SF weather - rainy, cold - so you can wear them out and they don't look like unstylish heavy boots. Love the front zipper - easy on, easy off. The top rubs my ankle the slightest bit so I wouldn't wear them hiking for hours.

These boots are incredibly comfortable (from the get-go!). Warm & true to fit. (I'm between 5 & 5 1/2 but with thick SmartWool socks, these are perfect. If Ariat made a size 5, it would have been too small I think.) Zappos as usual rocks. You always have great styles & service & are just a pleasure to deal with. Thank you!

I usually consider my foot pretty wide so I went up 1/2 a size. The width felt fine (not too snug) but the length was just a hair too roomy. When I ride, I'd like my boots to be more fitted. I have small ankles so the ankle area felt the loosest. I'm returning the 8's to try 7.5's. Hopefully the width won't be an issue and I'll have more support around the ankle. Will report back!

I wear these everyday in the barn and on the horse. They are wonderfully comfortable and durable. Actually, they are so comfortable that I took them on a trip to Spain recently just to wear. I walked all over, and they were great. They are not just for riding!

I'm a professional rider and I go through paddock boots like water. While I generally despise Ariat boots because they never last me more than a couple months with fairly heavy use (even the slightly "higher end" Devons) before they disintegrate and the soles fall completely off. These are great though, totally waterproof and the specially treated leather stays supple and does not crack and fall apart at the toes like the others. I am now on my second pair after just about one whole year that I got out of the last pair. I finally had to throw them out after the sole on one came unglued and let water in. I am really hard on my boots, I ride 10 to 12 horses a day with frequent trips to the wash rack. These boots do the job and are reasonably priced. As a side note I do think they help keep your feet warmer in the winter because of the waterproofing, but didn't seem too hot in the summer. I wish Ariat made all their products to hold up this well.

I really want to love these shoes. I got heel blisters the first wearing. Hoping the leather would soften, it's been at least a month of regular barn wear and they are not much softer. I should have bought the boots with a lace up front. I do not have large or wide feet and have never worn large width sizes. However, these boots are difficult to zip up starting at the instep! I also purchased thin Ariat socks to wear with the boot and it is still tight. You cannot get any thinner other than going barefoot. Unfortunately, since these are worn, I cannot return them. I wear knuckle band aids on my heels and vary between the thin socks to zip up after some force and wearing regular socks and leave unzipped and flop around in. I got these in a 7 and the length is fine, it's just super tight and stiff in the heel.

Great boots, the waterproof feature is amazing I've rinsed the mud off of them with a hose and my socks were totally dry. They haven't given me any problems and I would buy them again. Fit true to size also.

Very nice and comfy but the leather looks dull. I guess that is because it is waterproof.

It's rare that I give a product so many stars but these boots are worth every penny! I was so skeptical about the quality as I've purchased Ariat boots in the past and it didn't really live up to expectations but wow has things changed! These boots are so comfortable...like other reviewers have mentioned it requires zero break in period....which is unusual for full grain leather boots! I can see myself walking in these all day! They're so comfortable I didn't want to take them off when I was wearing them in the house! You also don't need to sacrifice style for comfort...these go with everything! I hope Ariat will never discontinue these because I think I just found my favorite ankle boots!

I've had these boots for a year now and they are holding up great, just a bit scuffed. They don't get really rough treatment, but have kept my feet dry through muddy walks and clean up easy. As others have mentioned, the zipper isn't waterproof, so you can't step in a puddle deeper than a couple of inches and stay dry. My feet can get sweaty if I wear them for a long time, but it's a fine tradeoff for waterproofness. I like the narrowness of the top of the boot. I wear a 6.5 or 7. The 6.5 was too tight across the top of my foot, but the size 7 fits great with a medium thickness sock. I had no rubbing.

This is my second pair of these boots. The construction and leather are very high quality, and they are my walking-around-all-day-in-the-winter standbys -- so comfortable! They are also surprisingly warm. Details: I usually wear a 7, but sized down.

I am very happy with these boots. I bought them in a size larger than my foot size so that I could use my orthotics. I have only worn them once and they are fairly stiff but very comfortable. Seem to be very good quality.

Excellent product! These are to replace a pair I have owned for 20 years and they are still in good shape! LOVE! These boots came out of the box wearable and comfortable. I went for a four hour horseback ride immediately and they worked great and didn't kill my ankles. No breaking in! Yay! Highly recommend.
