Angel choir. Beautiful boots that fit perfectly right out of the box. You extended calf ladies know what I'm talking about. The size 10 is just right for me; I have a medium width foot and low instep and will occasionally wear a 9.5 in flats and sandals. My calf circumference is about 17.5 and the boots fit, no problem (bear in mind that as the size goes up, the circumference on a boot goes up as well -- you generally gain about a quarter of an inch per size). As some others have noted, it would be nice if they were a bit taller. I think the ideal wearer for this cut is probably shorter than my 5'8", but this is a minor quibble for boots I hope to have forever.

These are beautiful boots, unfortunately "wide calf" is a bit of a overstatement, especially if you have a small foot in combination with a wide calf. I am sure for women in the 9-11 shoe size the circumference is fine due to the fact that it increases ¼" with every size, but for a 7½with a wide calf the extra ½" they give you with the "wide calf" version of these boots opposed to the regular version is just not enough. I could barely get my skinny jeans in with them. Getting my foot in the bottom portion was difficult, they also look much higher in the picture and ended up hitting me mid calf. Had the boots not been so expensive I may have kept them and dealt with the dissapointments, but for the price, that is not the case. They are going back and the search continues. My suggestion to Frye is make boots that are actually wide calf in every size not just the bigger ones, and in more varieties than two styles of boots.

I love these boots. Very well made and good quality leather. The dark brown is a nice deep brown that goes with everything. I purchased both the regular and wide calf to compare, and although I was able to pull the regular boots on, they were a bit snug while the wide boots were perfect. I'm a size 6.5 and they are true to size with minimal break in needed. The soles are extremely comfortable. I'm 5'1 with 14.25-14.5 inch calves. The wide boots are only about a 1/2 inch wider than the regulars. They fit me well and I'm able to wear them with skinny jeans. I'm not sure if this is just with this boot, but the wide boots were slightly taller (about a 1/2 to 3/4 inch) than the regular boots, on me they hit about 2 inches below my knee which is perfect.

Love these boots! They are the first boot I have ever found to fit my calves! My calves are 17", but then I am also short so my calves start lower than an average person, so finding boots to fit my legs has been an endless search. Well, I no longer have to keep looking! I usually wear between a 7 and 7.5 so I went with the 7.5 and they fit great. Normal socks will work, but I think really thick socks will be too much. So in love!

Okay, this is my 5th pair of Frye boots and about the 100th I have tried. I have wide calves and don't like to feel like my legs are being suffocated. I ordered these with the hope of them feeling comfy and slouching like they should, not like I stuffed them in there. Well, they are everything I hoped for! They fit me perfect, look great and finally, a pair of Frye boots that actually have a wide calf, as claimed! Bravo Frye!

I finally splurged on these and love them. Last year I bought the Frye Melissa Button and the calves were too tight -- and I'd like to think I have pretty average calves for my size (5'5'', 132 pounds). These are perfect, though; I'll have room to tuck skinny jeans into them, but they aren't too big to wear with bare legs, either. Before buying them, I googled "wearing Frye Veronica" to see pictures of regular people wearing them -- they look the same on me as they do in those pictures. (If you aren't satisfied with the Zappos video, I recommend you do the same.) In fact, I found a picture from Teen Vogue with a model wearing the Veronica (although I doubt in the Wide), and that's how my wides look on me. Anyhow, they're great! I can tell they'll need a little breaking in in the toe box, but they definitely aren't too small. For the price, I'm practically counting on these being a family heirloom -- since they're Fryes, I think that might work. Recommend!

Ok ladies, so I have ginormous calves. These puppies are about 19 1/2 inches. Needless to say, I've never owned a pair of boots taller than 8 inches. I really wanted a pair of Fryes since I was tired of spending a lot on faux-leather pieces of crap that fell apart within 6 months. Initially I was looking at some of the shorter styles, but in my research I found some reviews that said the Veronica Slouch might work. I've been ogling them since August and I finally decided to pull the trigger. Ordered the boots on Friday night, got them today (Monday) and I am quite pleased. The calves just fit with jeans on, and I'm thinking they will stretch with wear. I'm a size 9 and that's what I ordered, and contrary to what others have said they feel great. I don't have a terribly wide foot though, so maybe that's why. Overall, beautiful, stylish boot that is amazingly well made. Brand new Frye fan over here!

If you are doubting getting these boots because you don't think they'll fit your wide calf, you really have no reason to. I have such a hard time finding boots for my calves so I was really skeptical that such a nice boot would actually fit me. These boots are a dream come true. They are well-made, they look great, and they are roomy in the calf (but luckily not too roomy in the ankles like the Huntress Hunter Boots are). They are definitely an investment, but Frye boots last a lifetime. I really would not suggest any other boot for girls with wide calves. These are a dream come true.

I received these boots as a gift for an early Christmas gift, and I have had them for about a month now. They are the most amazing boots that I have ever had in my life. They are beautiful, comfortable, and I adore them! I have a 16.5 calf, and these fit perfectly. It is so hard to find such a great boot that fit athletic calves. I can wear them over skinny jeans and leggings easily. But, I will say, you have to earn their love. The first 4 or 5 times I wore them, I got horrible blisters on my heel, and pain throughout my ankle/heel area. I bought a size 8 (which is what I normally wear), and I am so glad that I did. They stretched out and now fit my foot wonderfully. My heels are still healing from the "wear and tear", but, my boots no longer cause pain. Please give these boots a chance, upon putting them on they may be tight in the ankle area, but, they will be worth the break in period, I promise! Thank you Zappos for your wonderful customer service!

I am usually a size 8 but purchased these in an 8.5 based on reviews for this and other Frye boots, and I'm glad I did because these fit nicely, especially if I wear a thick sock. I have a size 17 calf and while that is bigger than this boot's circumference, they fit snug against my calf. It's not uncomfortable and looks great. So glad I found a super stylish boot to fit my extended calf! Also, these boots were very hard to find, sold out everywhere, so don't give up and check frequently to see if any are back in stock or order directly from Frye's.

These are just as amazing as all the reviews. I have a size 11 foot and a 18" circumference calf. Fit wonderfully! Even room for jeans inside the boots. Worth the price and comfortable!

I really like the boots! They ran a little small for size 8.5. They gave me very bad blisters. I had to have them stretched in order to make them comfortable. I couldn't wait for a year to have that happen on its own. When I am able, I'm going to order another pair in size 9 and give these to my sister. I wish I could wear a taller boot but my calf is too large.

When I first got these boots, I wasn't certain they were exactly what I was looking for. However, I've had them for about a month now and I've worn them almost every day. They are very comfortable, and become more so with each wearing. They look great with skinny jeans, leggings, and tights. I'm 5'3" and my calves measure 15" around, wide enough that most riding boots are a little too tight. These boots fit perfectly and are just the right height. After years of buying cheap (and cheaply-made) boots, I'm glad I finally decided to purchase Fryes. They're worth it.

I love these boots! I have never been able to wear boots because of my calves but these are perfect. I measure exactly 15 inch at the widest part of my calf and there is about 3/4 inch of room at the top. I usually am a 8.5-9 depending on fit. I got the 8.5 inch they were perfect. 9 would've been to sloppy. The toe box is a little narrow and takes a few wears to break in. I love my new boots! Finally, no more calf muffin-top!

At last! the boots! (I'm sure Zappos is ready to wring my neck by now, having returned 5+ pairs of boots... nonetheless their mind-boggling shipping speed managed to get my boots to me by noon today, after ordering them at 11pm last night!) I don't feel my calves are *that* big, they're definitely not sticks, and I was more comfortable in Hunter Wellie's huntress wide calf rain boots, for reference, so I ordered the wide calf for these. I slipped these on over skinny jeans and they fit great, perfect amount of slouch. The color is great... black would be more edgy, I'm sure, but brown matches my wardrobe better. They did require a few grunts and tugs because the heel box is tight, as is the top of the boot but I'm sure as with all good leather it will stretch and mold within a few wears. If you're between sizes I'd recommend going to the lower one.

Love these boots! I have thick calves and can wear these boots "regular style" with normal jeans or loose and slouchy with jeggings, leggings, or tights. The search is over. Even at this steep price I am ordering black and brown. They also feel very high quality and long-lasting. I have only owned them a few months so I cannot attest to their longevity, but they seem to be very well made, as I've heard all Frye products are.

I am very happy with the Frye Veronica Slouch - Wide Calf boots. They are completely unlined so have no stiffness whatsoever, but the style and quality is very nice. I've had a hard time finding stylish wide calf boots. I hope Frye adds more to their line. Also, these run a bit narrow so were tight initially but seem to be breaking in nicely.

I've got 17" calves and the boots fit (on the last belt hole) though they don't go up high enough. I think if the shaft were 2" higher, I would keep these. The leather is great...if you're not looking for a knee-high, grab these up!

It is not possible for me to love these boots more than I do right now. I have had the hardest time finding boots that fit my wide calves. Even wide calf boots wouldn't fit my athletic 16" calves. But these do. I struggled with buying them because of the really expensive price. But they feel great, fit, are beautiful and will last forever. Buy them! The only thing I would say about sizing is that they do stretch out from the first time you put them on. I usually wear a 9 and bought a 9 in these boots. They were tight when I first put them on, but as I have been wearing them, they have stretched out to fit.

My calves are pretty wide - about 15 1/4 inches around - and I purchased these in a size 8. I usually wear between 7.5 and 8 and these were a tiny bit big on my foot but with thicker socks that won't be an issue. The calf fit was such that I could place my pointer finger in the empty space between the leather and my bare leg very easily, which will be great with jeans. I didn't want these to be flush to my legs so I could get that slouchy look that the girls with the thinner legs are getting. These boots are super comfortable and well made, totally love them and intend to wear them all the time and for all seasons. Thanks, Zappos!

This boot is beyond beautiful and made of high quality leather. I ordered the extended calf because I have huge calves (16 inches) so it is very hard for me to find boots that allow room for jeans. These do! At first, the boot felt tight on my instep and my toes. After wearing them around the house, they loosened up. Also, the heal gave me some serious pain for a full day, crippling my ability to walk in them. Thankfully, that went away after that one time as the FRYE consultant promised it would. These boots are not to the knee so if you are looking for that, this boot may not be for you. I'm 5'4 and the come to about 4 inches below my knee. Also, this style seems to run small in shoe size. I ordered a 1/2 size up and I still had to break them in quiet a bit. They are perfect now. I am so happy I made the big purchase and went with FRYE. I'm saying good bye to all of my cheapie boots and sticking with 2 pair of high quality Frye, one in black and one in brown. As always, Zappos is and always will be the best shoe source! Excellent customer service.

I purchased the brown Veronica Slouch wide calf last winter and love them. I can wear them with my skinny jeans (something I have never been able to do with my wide calves), leggings and tights and they look fabulous. I usually wear a 9.5 but ordered a 10 so I could slip in a good insert which is something I always do with boots. My only wish is that the shaft were taller so the boot would reach my knee, as I am 5'11”.

This boot is gorgeous and well worth the price. Sturdy sole with soft leather. The wide calf allows you to wear over skinny jeans and leggings and I still have room for boot socks to peek out. It is worth noting that my normal size is 9.5, which I received as a Christmas gift. It felt too big and there was alot of heel slipping. After reading a number of online reviews, I ordered a 1/2 size down (9) and they fit much more comfortably, even with thicker socks.

Buy this boot! Here are my stats--exactly 5'2.5, 125 lbs, 14.5 inch calves and shoe size 5.5. I have never owned a pair of boots that fit comfortably over my calf (which is athletic, not wide) As petite as I am, the problem is that the boot makers scale down the size of the shaft with the size of the shoe. I am posting for all of you small-footed gals out there who have my same struggle. I ordered 4 pair of boots this Winter alone before finding these gems! All said they would fit but the measurements are based on a shoe much bigger than I wear. These are just right, not much extra room, but fit comfortably. I find them true to size, comfortable and the leather is gorgeous!

This is my first Frye boots, so glad i got the wide calf, not only you they fit better but they make your legs look skinnier. As previous reviews said about the tightness of the boots, I will give them a chance to stretch. So far so good. I'm 5'3 and 15 calf circumference, and my search for a perfect pair of boots ended here yesterday.
