I keep trying to find boots that have a shaft that fits my wide calf. I measured and compared with the measurements given, but no luck. Beautiful boots. I am sorry they don't work for me. Except for the shaft size, they are definitely 5 star boots.

Very sleek and polished looking boot. The inside zip helps to keep the ankle from looking baggy and sloppy.

I am a true FRYE admirer and was very excited to get these boots. I ordered them on the morning of Columbus Day and received them Tuesday evening. I was shocked at the speed of the service. The boots are beautiful. I want them in every color. My only issue is that there is a slight taper at the top, and I have muscular calves. they were a little too snug. I am contemplating whether I should return them based on that information alone.

Great boots! I ordered dark brown in size 10. The reviews said true to size, but they're too big. So, I have a long wait for a 9.5, but it's worth it. The color is perfect, the leather is thick not flimsy. I have a skinny calf and the circumference is perfect. I love the short zipper, helps to pull your pant leg into the boot. I think I need to have a "Frye Boot" section in my closet.

What a classic well made boot! Sure this boot is pricey but it makes for the perfect investment piece that will last for years! They are classic looking so I love that I can wear them with a lot of different looks. They're true to size and very comfy! They look great with skirts and skinny jeans! I got them in stone and they are a grayish brown color. I like that the color is a pretty neutral color. Best of all, they fit my skinny little calves and this a typical problem for me. Definitely worth the money!

These maybe the best pair of flat heel boots that I own. Perfect fit with no break in needed. They are quite tall with a partial side size to make them easier to get on and off. High quality leather. I tried both the sand and the dark brown color. The sand is more of a rustic calf leather whereas the dark brown was a bit softer pebbled grained leather. I decided to go with the sand. The shaft is on the narrow side. You will need very skinny jeans or jeggings to tuck them into the boots. As usual, Zappos service and selection is top notch.

Finally a boot that fits my calves! I've been looking high and low for a pair of boots to fit my calves just right - the Veronica Slouch sort of fit if I tightened them all the way, while other boots just flared out completely. They'll definitely be for skinny jeans, tights, and leggings only, since anything else would bunch up too much. I'm also happy about the workmanship being better than what I've seen with some of the other Frye boots I've ordered.

These boots look awesome and are exactly what I was looking for. I got them in sand. I am giving them four stars for two reasons. The first because unlike the other reviewers I have worn them twice and they do need to broken in and are no as comfortable as you would expect for boots this expensive. They are not terribly uncomfortable but after wearing them for eight hours for the first time. I was definitely ready to take them off. The Second reason is the insole of the shoe (the leather part that says Frye on it inside) is loose and is coming off and it happened after the first day. I am sure the boots will break in nicely and they are beautiful. Also, I have a fairly thin calf and these are the first tall boots that I have ever had that actually fit me snugly.

I really liked the height and circumference of this boot shaft, leather was fabulous, but the heel height was a little shorter than I wanted. I've been looking for the perfect skirt boot and thought this was it. The Frye quality was there - beautiful boots, but not just what I wanted. Zappos is the only place I buy shoes and they always come through on their service and prompt shipping. I'll keep looking and will only look at Zappos. Thanks Zappos!

Am I the only one who is not head over heels for Frye boots? I have tried several styles and find them all bulky. These are fine if you just need a standard pair of getting around boots, but I think that for the price I really want something special. These are not it. The leather is nice, they fit in the calf but are bulky in the ankle, so not what you should get if you want a nice shape to your leg. The hunt continues...

The circumference at the top of boot opening is too narrow for average sized calf muscles. The leather and style was nice. The boots are a dead fit, so they either fit in the shaft or they don't.

After trying at least six different pairs of knee-high leather boots I finally found the ones! I am 5'9" 135 pounds and I have 13½" skinny calves. Everything, I mean everything, gaped at the calves on me except these. I almost kept the Rockport Tristina Gore boots but they just did not quite have the classic look that I was going for. I usually wear a 9½ in boots and I went with that size. They felt a little roomy but that was fine. It left just enough space for my favorite inserts. I cannot believe the high quality and comfort of these Frye boots! They are my first Fryes and I am definitely in love. And the smoke color is to die for!

My Frye boot search is over! These are it! I tried several other styles of Frye before getting these. I have big feet (size 10-11) and narrow calves (14 inches), so it's always been hard for me to find boots that fit. Usually as the shoe size gets bigger, the calf circumference gets bigger as well. But these fit perfectly! They were comfortable the minute I put them on (thanks to the rounder toe and cushion footbed). The quality of the leather is amazing, it's thick but still soft. I got the redwood color and it's gorgeous- a little more unique than your typical brown boot. I absolutely love these boots. I just wish I'd found them sooner!

I relied heavily on reviews for these boots before I purchased. Here is my review to help others! The boots are beautiful (I purchased them in tan). I found them a bit larger in footbed than other shoes. I am between a 9.5 and 10 (usually buy 10) and I purchased these in 9.5 and they fit perfectly. The rounded toe is great for a medium foot. I do agree that you need a smaller calf for these boots (especially if you plan to wear jeans tucked in). The zip on the side is a really great feature for me (high arches and don't fit into Frye slip-ons because of them). These boots are not floppy knee highs. No bunching at ankles. They are heavier than other boots because of the lug sole. I hope for the top of the shaft will stretch a bit as I wear them so I can wear pants and knee socks with them! Great purchase I'll be wearing for a long, happy time!

Oh my gosh. Frye you have done it again! These boots are amazing for ladies with slimmer calves. I have been searching for boots with a narrow shaft and these are the ones (my calf circumference is 11"). These boots are super comfortable right out of the box and they feel amazing. I got them in the Smoke color and it's a beautiful muted brown that will go with anything. I ordered half a size down and they fit like a dream.

I bought these in smoke and love the color! I have 3 pairs of Fryes in size 7, which is what I ordered again, but they do feel about a half size larger than marked. I kept them because they're still comfy and I can stay warmer with thicker socks. I'm petite (5'2") with thin calves, and these hit just below my kneecap. The shaft fits nicely with skinny jeans, which is hard to find for me. They have a great edgy look, which is what I look for in a boot. Fryes are the best. But Zappos is the true winner! I bought a Kooba bag from the site a year ago that fell apart (just the handle) after very light use about a dozen times. I took it to get repaired, but they told me it couldn't be done. I appealed to Kooba, but got no response. Finally I emailed Zappos and received store credit for my return a full year later. When even the brand ignored me (obviously that was my last Kooba bag) Zappos still came to my rescue...I am a happy customer for life!

I ordered these boots knowing that the shaft circumference was a whole inch smaller than my measured size but I really liked them so I went against common sense and ordered them. I also read a posted comment saying that they would stretch. They came to me lightning fast from Zappos. The circulation to my legs were also cut off when I initially tried them on. So I put on the thickest pair of knee high socks, shove my legs into them and did a few swats in them, then I took the boots off, folded the socks over my calve area, doubling up on material and repeated. Over one evening of swats and sitting around in them, I got them to the condition where they would slide comfortably on my calves as I took each step instead of being stuck around my calves which causes the ankle area to bunch as it did when I first tried them on. They are super cute and I love them. I did notice that the inner sole only covered the mid foot to heel part of the boot, unlike the Campus 14L that I've had for years which had the whole footbed covered.

I probably have 40 pairs of Frye boots. These are super comfortable, get better as they get older and they are such good quality that even my old boots look like I just bought them. Love Frye!!

After trying (and returning) the Melissa Button style (the tops of the shaft were a little too western for me), my fingers were crossed that these would work. I am normally a size 11, and these fit fine, but if a 10.5 existed I would think that would be perfect. Any idea why 99% of shoe companies skip right from a 10 to an 11? That aside, I really do love these boots. It is the perfect, basic riding boot; a style that will always be in. My calves are pretty average, and I love that the shaft on these boots fits snugly and doesn't gap all over the place. It makes for a sleek profile, and even makes my big ole feet look nice! The leather is beautiful and thick enough that these boots stand up on their own. I can't say that the inner zipper makes them much easier to put on - just pull up firmly on the tabs to wiggle them on, and after a few wears they do soften up and become easier to get on. Oh, and the smoke color is very gorgeous and versatile. I really thought it was pretty true to the picture -- not grey at all but a greyish brown that doesn't scream "brown boots!", so I think you could pull these off with many colors.

I got a pair in smoke and love them. I am 5'3", slim build and have somewhat wide feet with bunions so have to be extra careful in choosing shoes especially boots. I got a size 6M and they fit perfect after a couple of wears. Very comfortable and stylish. Got lots of compliments. Look great with dresses and leggings. I have been wearing them to office, shopping, church and everywhere else.

After reading other reviews, I was really unsure as to what size to get. I usually wear a 9.5 or 10 but many said these boots fit big and the 9.5 size was sold out. I never bought this brand before but my typical Born boots are all 10 so I went with that and they fit great. Love the tan color, with the yellow undertones I think looks nice with brown or black outfits.

Like many others reviewing this boot, I have skinny calves and most tall Fry boots gape quite badly on me. I would have preferred a style with a few moto inspired buckles like the Veronica back zip, but they were too wide. So these are nice, they fit well, the quality is superb and they are very comfortable with more cushioning in the sole than most Frys I've tried on. I wish they had had the smoke when I ordered, but I settled for the redwood which is lovely but more limiting. I don't think they run large but the toe box is comfortably roomier than the Veronica shorties I have. They also accommodate a thin arch support as I have high arches. I wear an 8.5 in closed shoes and these fit true with an average thickness boot sock. So maybe if you are truly between sizes you could go down 1/2 size. They don't gape in the calf but are not tight and have plenty of room for skinny jeans as my calves measure only 12 and 1/4 inches at their widest.
