I bought both the Finn Soft Gomera and the Mephisto Altina to try for an upcoming trip to Europe. While at first, the Mephisto seemed the most comfortable right out of the box, I have decided the Finn Comfort fits my wide foot much better. As another reviewer has mentioned, the straps on Finns are a bit rough. It's not the underside that is rough (that's soft), it's the edge of the strap. That said, the more I wear these around the house, the more comfortable they become. These feel like they were made for my feet, and the arch support is excellent. The Mephisto sandal is made for a more narrow foot than mine. If you turn both shoes over, the Finn comfort has a wider sole (by about 3/4 inch). I hope this helps. I knocked one star off comfort due to the slightly rough edges of the straps, but that seems to be subsiding. The footbed is very comfortable. I wear an 8-8 1/2 and the 39 was a perfect fit. Also, the straps are fully adjustable, but they don't look like velcro straps!

First of all. Finn Comfort has been my go to shoe when all else fails. Not anymore. The quality of the leather has definitely deteriorated especially on the inside of the shoe. I have purchased two pairs of different styles and found this to be true on both. There is a stiffness to the leather that is irritating. The stitching on the Gomera is not consistent with the quality on my 4 year old Gomeras. I never minded the price because I was taking care of my feet; but that is not the case anymore. I will not be ordering any more Finn Comforts. I honestly don't know what I will try next. They used to be the best.

I've been wearing this sandal for the last three weeks and I love them! They have great arch and metatarsal support, which I need for my plantar fasciitis and high arches. I can wear them without an orthotic and work all day as a teacher without pain. This sandal is the only shoe I am able to wear without an orthotic. It fits me perfectly because of the three velcro bands. I am a size 10m and a 41 works for me. I will purchase another pair as soon as my pocketbook will allow.

This is a comfortable walking sandal with good arch support. I already own one pair of Finn sandals and have worn them for three years long lasting shoes. I have wide feet, high arches, and high insteps and this shoe accommodates all problems.

I sent back the Chacos and the Keens. Having happy hogs is worth the hit to the check book! I have swallowed my pride and embraced the virtues of Velcro -- no longer, in my mind, confined to toddlers or geriatrics. I am able to adjust these shoes to fit all areas of my foot. The surgical disaster that passes as my instep is supported and happy. An added bonus: they make my 10 wides look slender and downright elegant. Shoes that can do that have my undying devotion.

This had great arch support, but the leather was stiff, not supple in any way.

Let me start this review by saying that I have some of the worst problem feet in the world. Bunions, a Morton’s neuroma, hammer toes, corns, wide feet - arch problems, plantar fasciitis. I have spend thousands of dollars over the years in search of a shoe that doesn’t hurt my feet. I’ve had marginal success until now. I just received these sandals today. They were wonderful right out of the box. The shoe bed is so comfortable - the shoe is wide enough, good arch support. I almost fainted at the cost, but it is so worth it to find a shoe that finally helps me out. I highly recommend this shoe. I’ve ordered another pair of a different style just now. Where has this company been all my life?

I was looking for comfortable sandals for a walking trip. I tried Mephisto Altina, Finn Comfort Gomera and Saloniki, and Naot Karenna. Gomeras were the clear winner and I'm quite happy with them so far. They have a back strap that is adjustable with a buckle but also opens and closes with a snap for quick on-off. I've worn them several days in a row in a heat spell and also just wore them on a 2-hour hike, and although one foot got a small blister by the end of the hike where I think I just hadn't adjusted the straps enough as my feet started to sweat and spread out, otherwise they held up great, no blisters on the other foot. The inside of the straps is just deliciously butter-soft and the workmanship of the whole shoe seems awesome. I think these are going to contribute quite a lot to my comfort on my trip!

I like Finn comfort shoes! I ordered these Gomera sandals a few weeks ago and have worn them many days since and no problems at all. Broke my hip the end of February these shoes have been a wise and wonderful investment to use during the healing and rehab process. Now I want one in every style and color. Thanks to Finn and Zappos.

This is a very good looking shoe but as I wear a true US size 4-1/2 and this shoe runs 4-1/4 - 5 European size, it is too large for me.

I bought these last year but had not worn them out of the house because of an annoying squeak. I tried the baby powder under the insole, but it did not help. I recently heard of a wonderful trick of pulling up the insole and applying Vaseline to the side of the insole where it connects with the strap. It worked! Now I wear these shoes everywhere and absolutely love them. They offer so much support, and my problem feet think they are the greatest. I am so glad I discovered this trick, as I had decided not to buy another pair of Finn Comfort if they were going to squeak. Now I am saving my pennies so I can order a pair in brown.

Z-best most comfortable sandals (shoes) ever. There is nothing worse than a cheapo, vinyl par of sandals. No break in period, and get more comfortable as you go. I have a pair that are 3 yrs, and they are the best!

These are the best and worth every single penny. I just purchased my third pair (first time through Zappos). At first, they may seem a bit stiff and clunky, but after some time, they soften up and mold to your feet like a pair of gloves. I wore my previous pairs comfortably for about 5+ years, and then, if the bottoms weren't so worn, I would have kept right on wearing them. They provide tremendous support for those who have weak ankles, wide feet, bad back, etc. I generally wear a size 10½-11, and the 41 fits perfectly. At the end of the day, feet, legs, and back feel great.

Wow! These are fabulous! They are exceptionally great quality and super comfortable. Sizing---At stores I measure as right about an 8 US size. Depending on the brand, I wear anywhere from a 7.5-8.5 in US sized shoes, a 38 in Birkenstocks, a 38 in Alegrias, and a 39 in Danskos. A 39 in Finn Comfort fits very well, to some maybe a bit large, though I think many people wear shoes too small. These seem pretty funky cute to me, and I don't think I'm deluding myself. They are really flattering with the asymmetrical strap crossing the foot. I have black and am dreaming of the red. It looks stunning. Pricey, oh yes. I didn't pay full price for mine by a long shot (purchased elsewhere), but after experiencing these, I believe I would now. :)

Super comfortable but way too big. I ordered 2 sizes and this was the smaller of the 39 and 40. Although my left foot is a 40 and my right is a 39, even the 39s are too big! I'm returning for a 38 and hope the footbed fits both feet OK. The quality is beyond any shoe I've ever worn - even my Wolkys. Although not a full size wider, there is enough Velcro tabbing that I think I can even wear socks with this!

I have worn Finn Comfort for years because of the good arch support. I need the back strap for stability and the Gomera is the most stylish and comfortable Finn Comfort sandal I have found. The outer sole is a new one for me and it really seems to work for my 80 year old feet! Other than now having to pay sales tax, Zappos continues to be a fantastic company. I love the fast service and helpful representatives if I need to speak to someone.

Very comfortable shoes, has lots of cushioning. Shoes really look more attractive in person. I have a wide foot and the straps were no problem. Recommend buying.

Finn Comfort shoes have got to be the most fantastic shoes ever made! These were my first pair, but I have purchased two more since and they are worth every penny. I'm a teacher and am on my feet all day. I'm also of the age to have leg pains -- no more! I put these on at home as soon as they arrived after a day of work and they made my feet and legs feel so good that I had the energy to iron clothes for about an hour with no leg pain. Amazing! As soon as it starts getting cooler weather I will buy some of the shoe styles. I can't imagine ever buying any other brand from now on.

Extremely comfortable, supportive and nice-looking on the foot. A little clunky for skirts, but great with pants. The low-key metallic grey color goes with jean, blacks and greys.

I have always had good luck with the Finn brand of shoes and like to purchase them from Zappos. This is a very pretty sandal.

Sole is a bit more flexible than my low arches can tolerate. The Finns with the rocker bottom provide more arch support. Still, cute and comfortable--just not for all day walking if you wear orthotics.

These did not work for me. I wear size 8, and they were true to fit, but straps were not comfortable and I did not realize they had poly soles. Too hard, non-cushioning. I expected more comfort for the money. My feet are sensitive.

This was to have been my second pair of Finn Comfort sandals. These sandals are extremely wide. I ordered my normal size and these are huge on my feet even when adjusted as tightly as possible. Disappointed as I like the other Finn Comfort sandals I have but these are going back. My rating reflects the sizing.

I got my first pair of Finn Comfort Gomera, in the cognac color, a little over two years ago when we were going to Walt Disney World. I have lots of issues with my feet, (bunions, neuropathy, and plantar fasciitis) and I needed a pair of sandals that I could walk long distances in without causing pain and discomfort. After trying on several pairs of sandals in other brands, I found the Gomera. The price made me think twice before ordering, but I read the excellent reviews and just had to try them for myself. I was desperate for something that would work for me. The cost has been worth every penny I spent on the shoe! It is completely adjustable at four different points, and the removable footbed allows me to use my own orthotic or buy Finn Comfort replacements from Zappos, which allow the shoe to look as good as new again! I just got my second pair of Gomera in black. They arrived yesterday, and I'm ready to walk for miles without "breaking them in". I ordered one size larger than my usual size, because I think they run a little small. I am thrilled to own two pair of Gomera now, and I am looking forward to the day when I have them in several more colors!
