This review is for those with narrow feet, (A or B width) and it is a rant to all shoe manufacturers. The rest of you with average or wide feet just wouldn't get it, so skip to the next review. I ordered the Midland oxford in a B width. My foot measures a 13 A width according to the measuring devices in shoe stores. But as you know the only shoes available in an A width are formal dress shoes. (as if those of us with narrow feet wear a suit 100% of the time) I was very disappointed after trying these on to find they fit the same widthwise as many D width shoes I've tried. This seems to be the case with almost all of the small number of shoes that are actually available in a B width. I think the only shoes made in a B width are the ones that actually run a little wide to begin with, so the manufacturer makes them in a so-called B width to compensate for those who need a D width. That has been my experience with the pidly handful of shoes by Dunham, Clarks, Rockport, Ecco, etc. that are offered in a so called "B" width. Yea all the shoe salesmen suggest adding a second insole to take up space but that only creates more problems, like increasing heel slippage or cramping the toes to name a couple. When I was younger I did the extra insole trick but now I'm older and my feet are more sensitive and I'm fed up with that stupid solution. I would actually pay double price for a shoe that fits right if that were an option. I wish that were an option for special order. Actually I'm not too disappointed this particular shoe doesn't fit as it was one of my last choices in terms of aesthetics of the shoe. The shoe seems like it would be comfortable for someone with a wider foot who didn't need any arch support. Those who say this shoe has "excellent arch support" don't know what arch support is and apparently don't need it. I think I've officially tried all casual shoes available in a B width now with absolutely no luck. I'm still optimistic. Maybe in the next 10 yrs. there will be a couple new styles offered in a narrow width. At least I can still get a secure fit with a couple running shoes and light hikers though I'm getting really tired of only wearing those and it isn't always an appropriate choice. I'm not really picky, I'm just sick of not have a casual shoe that doesn't slip on the heel or having my foot slide around in the shoe.

I ordered these shoes in the 4E size, expecting they would fit, but unfortunately I was disappointed. I liked the style and the craftsmanship appeared to be good, but the shoes were a little narrow, and were especially constricting across the top of my arch. I am so glad that Zappos makes returns easy.

A very comfortable shoe, but best of all is the sure grip on wet and slippery surfaces. I am a rural carrier, so I go to a lot of different types of surfaces, and I feel confident when I am in these and all my Dunham shoes.

Finally! A pair of shoes that are wide enough for me! I bought these as work shoes and as a computer tech at a big company I spend a lot of time walking. They work very well for what I need them to do. The only minor complaint I have is that they are a little longer than I'd like. I should have gone a 1/2 size smaller, but the fit was good enough that I didn't need to send them back.

I was looking for shoes I could wear to work or for casual wear, and I saw these had high ratings, so I decided to give them a try. I got them several weeks ago and have worn them quite a bit. At first they were a little stiff, and I had one shoe that was pinching my foot after wearing them all day, but now that they are getting broken in that problem is diminishing (probably just my weird feet). In any case, I do a lot of walking, and these are very comfortable. I also really like the looks - they look good with khakis for work or with jeans for casual wear. Generally, it's a good all-around shoe. I would buy them again - maybe I will get a black pair to go with the brown.

The Zappos experience was very good. I ordered and returned a pair of shoes. Then I ordered a pair that I kept. I received credit in a timely fashion and shipping paid. Zappos is a good company to do with business with and I plan to do business with Zappos in the future. I recommend this company to my customers, friends and relatives.

Love these shoes. Bought them to be a little classier at work. I've had them a few weeks and I'd say they're pretty close to my first pair of red wings (heavy duty). Best part is you can try the stuff on and send it back for full refund if it doesn't fit. I'll definitely buy from here again.

Great great shoes! True to size and I've had them for two months and they show little age on the soles. Very durable. I'm going to look at Dunham shoes more!

Very fast service, I placed the order on Tuesday morning and they were delivered before noon on Wednesday. I have a very wide foot (6X) and very seldom find a shoe that fits properly. These fit great, I took them out of the box, put them on and wear them 2 to 3 times per week.

These shoes are very comfortable, airport-friendly, and have become among my favorite treads. They're presentable, but casual. I'd buy another pair!

I bought this pair of shoes back in August and last month started a squeaky sound that is annoying. Is not due to the rubber sole. Is something in the inside that does this sound. Other things the shoes get loosened frequently, but I can take care of that. What is really difficult is going around in the office with that sound that everybody knows that you are coming.

I wanted a heavily cushioned steel toed work shoe; I knew in advance that this shoe wasn't that. At my boyhood Iowa farm we called that style of shoe clodhoppers. I need 14AA or 14A clodhoppers. Red Wing Shoes used to carry those 14AA's; I wore out 3 pairs each lasting 2+ years till they discontinued the AA's. I then bought the 14A until those were also gone. Then I switched to a Timberland safety toe oxford which were only available in B width or worse. I had to use inserts to shrink the internal volume. Those are no longer available either. Out of the box these Dunham Midland's 14B were a snug fit. Wonderful! I haven't encountered a snug fit in 20 years. After wearing them for a few hours the downside of snug became apparent. The inward edge of the shoe's tongue rested on the top of my foot and created soreness. These shoes claim to be waterproof; they are not! 250 feet from my back door to the mailbox thru 4" of fresh powder snow and then a 2 block walk of my dog and these shoes were wet. Not only that but my socks were wet. Can I presume that rain will also soak right thru? If these shoes can only be worn when the weather is totally dry then they're usefulness is limited. Finally, the laces chosen are unacceptable. I must retie the laces 3-5 times per day. The flexure of merely walking loosens them up

Stiff, like walking on pieces of steel. Old fashioned method of shoemaking, rigid and unyielding. Not comfortable at all; in fact hurt my feet.

Comfortable out of the box. On 2nd pair now. The brown smooth leather looks best. The dimpled milled leather version makes the shoe looks old, dated and like geriatric shoes. Rubbe outsole could wear a bit longer before wearing down but for the price it’s a great shoe.

Very nice shoe, but size was much smaller than marked. I've been wearing 10.5 EEE for over 50 years. These were marked 10.5 4E. No way, they felt like 9.5 2E. Had to send them back.

Outstanding performance on shipping and delivery. The product was just the quality I imagined, but just little too long in size. Need to exchange for one size smaller.
