I'm in love with this pair of shoes. Last March, I wanted something lighter than full hiking boots but good support and waterproof. I tried Keens but they simply didn't fit my wide toes and narrow heel. Also, at size 5 my choices were limited. A Zappos customer service agent suggested this shoe for my needs and foot shape and she was completely right. My left shoe needed a couple of wearings to be fully flexible and comfortable but the right shoe was great right out of the box. I have worn these for 10 months now, hiking in the Rockies in every season, over rocks, in the rain, crossing streams, with snow shoes on and ice cleats, and on a trip to Kauai where I was hiking in warmer but muddy conditions. They have been consistently great. My feet stay dry, and good support for a day hike (i.e. 6-10 mile hike). While I still would use my full hiking boots for backpacking or steeper/rockier conditions that require more ankle support, these are almost as light as an athletic shoe with more support and are my choice for most of my hiking, as well as walking around when I was traveling. They feel wonderful and I'm quite happy with the purchase.

These shoes are absolutely amazing. I hike on dirt trails each day with my dog (3½-10 miles) and these Merrells provide me with support and comfort. As a 50ish female who has had foot problems, I am picky about my shoes. These are just as wonderful on my feet as Mephistos for a fraction of the price! I wear through them in about six months. The cushioning is not there anymore and also the back inside heel fabric starts to wear. I do not think it is the shoe; it is the heavy use I give them. They are about 95% waterproof. In a heavy rain or if I step in too deep of a puddle, my feet will get wet. Still, I adore these shoes. I am ordering my third pair from Zappos tonight! I usually wear 8½, but wear 9 in these. The only other slight issue I had with these shoes is that the sole, when it is new, can be a little slippery on pavement.

The Merrell Moab is a sure thing. This is my second pair of Moabs (the first pair I ordered 4+ years ago and still wear them regularly), so believe me when I say that this shoe is durable, it will last a long time, and most of all it's comfortable. The cushioning from the ladies insole that Merrell puts in the Moab is like nothing else -- before these shoes I'd never experienced being able to put on a brand new pair of shoes, walk 10-15 miles in them and not have a single blister, a single 'hot spot', or a single ache or pain in my feet. These Moabs are waterproof (my others aren't) and are definitely worth every penny. Don't hesitate to order these shoes!

There is nothing waterproof about these shoes. In fact I can not find anywhere on the Merrell website description of this shoe, where it says gortex, or waterproof. I bought these shoes for work and play. I work at a garden nursery, and we have had a wet season. I am standing in water all day, and in this shoe I have a wet foot all day. Other than what appears to be misrepresentation of the waterproofness, this is a comfortable shoe to walk and stand in all day. I love Merrell shoes.

My goal was to buy a shoe with some water resistance that would also be good for lots and lots of walking. I ordered three pair from different manufacturers. The Merrell came out way in front for comfort. I assume it will hold up for walking at least as well as others Merrells I have had. (I may be the only person in the world who actually wears out the soles of Merrells; they are tough.) I thought they might be too warm but they are not. I ordered a half size larger upon early advice about Merrells and was glad I did. One insole was not set properly; I hope I fixed this okay, otherwise it's going to be a bother. I wish the shoe had the kind of laces that you don't have to tie, but oh, well. Basically, I'm very satisfied and do recommend this shoe.

Great shoe. True to size and width. Amazing traction, wore them to Arkansas, dipped them in the creek (no wetness in the shoe, socks remained dry) and climbed on slippery rocks, very stable, didn't skip or slip. Far superior to my previous Columbia Hikers. Also looked great with jeans. Wore them with the lighter Smartwool socks, my feet were comfortable without any sweat.

I bought these shoes a year or so ago for hikes on muddy trails and through wet grass. They were comfortable and kept my feet nice and dry for a couple of months. Then they completely lost their waterproofing. Also on the negative side, the shoelaces tend to come untied and the shoes are heavy even when they are not caked with mud. I am disappointed in Merrell's claims that these shoes are waterproof, and I will not buy this brand again. On the plus side, Zappos never disappoints!

I have wide feet and have a terrible time finding shoes that fit me. These fit like a glove, and are truly waterproof. At last I am comfortable walking in cold, wet weather! I'm looking forward to hiking in these shoes too. They felt a little stiff at first, but now are just right, and they're quite light, too. The laces are slippery and short, so I have to put the second loop through the knot twice to hold it, and then there's no problem.

I'm a dog walker in New England and these shoes have made this winter a pleasure! I walked through a field covered in an inch of slush with these on and my feet were warm and dry the whole time. They are super comfortable but definitely order up. I have the Merrell Siren sport sneakers in a 9.5 and had to get these in a 10.5. Both pairs fit about the same.

I bought these in my size (10) and realized they ran a bit small, so I got a 10.5. Perfect!!!! I wore them all day every day for 2 weeks exploring national parks in Colorado, AZ, Utah and Nevada and plan to wear them a lot more. I would also recommend the (made in the USA) Wigwam hiking socks, also. My husband also used the socks and a men's version of the Merrell Moab waterproof shoe and found both excellent.

Tried on close to 30 pairs of hiking shoes, these were the best by far. Very comfortable and light, lots of support and cushioning, and an excellent overall fit.

Very comfortable, good cushioning. This shoe has the widest toe box of any current Merrell hiking shoe (I emailed Merrell and asked) so it's perfect if you have bunions or a wider (but not wide) foot. I did order up a half size from my last pair of Merrells, but there's a good chance that's me and not the shoes!

I love these shoes. They are very comfortable and true to fit. Great traction and stability. This is my second pair of Merrell trail shoes. I tried another high-end brand of trail shoes before buying these and they didn't even come close to the comfort and quality of the Merrells.

I found these to be very snug fitting and tight in the toe box. I was very concerned that if they were tight out of the box, they would be unbearable after a short hike. They are a very sticky shoe and appear to have great traction.

I thought this shoe fit great, but after wearing it twice I found it was a tad too short for my foot. Also, it was really bugging my heels and I had to remove the insoles it came with and put in an old pair of athletic orthotics to make the shoe feel better. I'd recommend ordering a half size up. Also wasn't very waterproof. Got caught in a rain storm and water somehow seeped in b/c the front of my foot and insole were both damp, but not wet.

I absolutely love them! I tried three different Keen hiking shoes and boots before finding these. The others were too narrow. I did go up half a size to accommodate thicker hiking socks. I have wider feet but I could have stayed with my size with thinner socks. I have worn them nonstop since they came. They are comfortable and look cute around town, too.

I needed a waterproof hiking boot because I work outdoors in the winter. This boot keeps my feet dry and Merrells just fit me better than any other brand of hiking boot.

I love my Merrell Moab shoes. I wear them daily for work and they are very supportive and comfortable. I especially appreciate the orthotic built into the shoe. On vacation I wore them on a very soaking ride and my feet stayed dry. The waterproofing works well!

LOVE THEM - Very comfortable, cushy insoles. Good gripping tread. Decent arch support. I switched to this from shorter hiking boots and WOW what a difference! So much more comfortable. Pricey, but they are the same price everywhere I looked.

These are great! I have not hiked in them yet, but what a world of a difference from my five year old deteriorating pair of The North Face hiking shoes I have been wearing forever. These are so comfortable! I have no doubt these will work great for me on the trails. They do run half a size small in my opinion. I am typically a size 10½ and the size 11 fit me perfectly. They look great, too!

I love my new Merrells, I had no time to break them in and I did not need to after all. We were in Utah and did lots of hiking and they were so comfortable and performed well. These are good stability shoes. I highly recommend them. I am so glad that I got them.
