This is a very versatile backpack/daypack and is adaptable from the boardroom to the classroom-in my case I use it for both locations since I teach and consult. I like the slim profile - this is not a stuff it to the brim bag. You can tote your essentials but don't expect to pack your desk. My Macbook Air fits comfortably and I think a 15" laptop would be okay too - not sure about 17" though. Zippers and pulls are very sturdy and have good construction. Plenty of pockets inside and out. Glad I got the military green. The contrasting orange fabric inside makes it easy to identify peripherals. Yes, it's pricey but Tumi matches your dollars with quality.

Nice design concept, poor implementation. At first blush this backpack seems perfect, especially the spruce with the orange interior. You can see items inside easily. However, there are some major flaws. I returned the items because the teeth on the zippers fell out. Big problem at the price this bag is going for! Also, the zipper teeth protrude so when you put your hands inside pockets to retrieve things your hands get all scraped and scratched. That gets old after the 3rd scratch. I loved the slimline and over all look but like I said, the implementation needs work.

The Tumi sales associate claimed this backpack is water resistant. However, it is not. I stood in light drizzle, under an umbrella, for five minutes while waiting for a shuttle, and my laptop had water on it. I dried it off and it happened again in my five minute walk home from the subway. These zippers should not have been used in an upward facing position because they leak profusely. Really too bad, because otherwise it is an attractive, slender profiled and comfortable backpack, but for this price it should not have such a major design flaw.

Perfect for a MacBook air or even a 13in MacBook. It zips at top which is perfect for sliding in and out of it. Straps could be more comfortable.

I needed a back pack-- I wanted something not too heavy or huge, and not a stiff feel of an outdoor/hiking kind of back pack. I wanted it for the days I am out and have to carry lots of extra supplies for my 3 year old as well as my personal items. This bag is wonderful. It has plenty of pockets and spaces. Hidden places too. Love the side zip pockets for carrying water bottles or my eyewear. I love the handle on top as well. It is a good grab and go bag. The weight is very manageable, not too heavy. Not too big (I am 5'2). It is a good size for me as well as for someone taller. It is really durable and tough. I am not particularly careful with my bags, it is all about function. It is also good looking, I don't like flowers or the typical "diaper bag" kind of look. I love this bag. My husband is jealous and wants one too. I am ordering it now.

Attractive and professional (well, as professional as a backpack can be), but way too small. The outside pockets are numerous, which seems perfect for commuting. The problem is that the outside pockets are too small and the zipper edges way too scratchy.

I LOVE this bag! Had my eye on it for a long time but after seeing it at an airport store in Anthracite (grey) I hesitated to buy it because of the heavy gauge, hard to slide zippers. They are as described in reviews I read, very rough and not attractive imo. After reading reviews on Zappos stating the zippers were not an issue with the Hickory (black) bag I decided to buy knowing I could return it for free if necessary. Zippers are definitely NOT an issue with Hickory and it is a beautiful, well designed bag. So many compartments! It's designed to fit comfortably on my back even when fully loaded. With my old backpack everything sunk to the bottom and stressed my lower back. The weight is more evenly distributed and I've had no issues. So happy I bought this bag! Love it! Worth every penny!

Just received this and used for weekend getaway for personal items carried on the plane. Loved it! Tons of great pocket storage, comfortable straps and super cool looking to boot.

I adore this bag. It is so beautiful. A pocket for everything. Not meant to be overstuffed, it can be difficult to get into the 2 front small pockets when packed tightly. The zippers don't scratch my hands, as others have complained. I could do without the blank leather tag affixed to the front, but that is its only flaw in my eyes. This is an expensive bag, but I am in love with it, and will certainly get my money's worth. It served us nicely during a week at Disney world, and was the perfect size for a concert.

Love this backpack. I am 5'3 and the size is perfect for me. Best feature is the orange interior, makes it easy to find stuff. Zappos is the absolute best!

I'm a female business traveler and have been using this backpack for about a month and love it so far. as someone who used to never check my luggage i now tend to check my bag with clothes, carry on this backpack and a purse. my back, arms, and shoulders hurt less than when I checked and used a rolling computer bag or carried computer in large purse. I agree with other reviewers that zippers are a tad rough, but i do like the multiple pockets. as always zappos ordering and delivery process flawless!

This is a great fit for ladies with an average torso length but it is not a good it for petite women who have short torsos. The zippers are hard on the hands. The side pockets are not large enough for water bottles. The material is stiff.

I have been a Tumi customer for over 15 years and have purchased leather computer bags, garment bags, backpacks, wallets, etc. I was looking to downsize to a smaller backpack for my daily commute into New York City. (I was previously using a Tumi T-Tech backpack, which I absolutely loved.) From an appearance perspective this bag is very attractive, but from a usage perspective I am majorly disappointed. A simple laptop and small folder of papers makes the zipper pockets barely usable because the fit is so tight and it is extremely difficult to get anything in/out. I also had to take the ID holder off the bag because it constantly got in the way. I am sorry Tumi but this bag was poorly designed and missed the spot. I would return it if I did not have it monogrammed. Into the closet it goes.
