We love Rimowa luggage, have bigger pieces and very happy with them. This particular bag is a little big and heavy for the cabin. Not every airline will allow to take it inside, it simply can be too big for smaller airplane. It was also too heavy for me to put it up to the overhead compartment. I am going to buy a smaller size as I really enjoy the look and how easy to maneuver Salsa Deluxe.

Very lightweight, stylish and can pack enough to last for a week. Money well spent. Zappos as always delivered very quickly despite the big size.

The handle doesn't lock in between the fully extended and fully retracted positions. I think it's supposed to.

This is my fourth Rimowa purchase and it has changed my life! Lately I have been checking the 26" thinking I could never fit a weeks worth of clothing and toiletries in a carry-on. This bag has done the trick! Rimowa bags in general are deceiving in that they pack twice what you think you can. I hesitated between buying this carry-on and the smaller hybrid (which carries substantially less) because it wasn't clear if this bag was too big for the overhead. I ended up buying both for different reasons and yes this bag will easily fit in the overhead on most US carriers. I have only traveled with it domestically on both AA and Delta, but despite the reviews I would roll the dice and bring it aboard an International flight if I were flying in business class. I continue to be a huge fan of Rimowa for its durability, ease of use, and capacity. Prior to purchasing Rimowa I had only used traditional zip around cases with one large cavity and the split construction of Rimowa worried me. I am a total convert to this design now as it makes packing streamlined, organized and balanced. One comment I have never seen previously regards color. I chose the glossy black with black mesh inside. I regret that the inside mesh is black and wish it were gray or beige (as in other color options) because it is hard to see what's in the mesh. If your undergarments are dark, black socks or black bathing suit, you will have difficulty seeing them. Another note regarding ease of use is this bags ability to literally glide effortlessly (one finger) through the airport and even more brilliant is the 8-wheel design allows you to turn the bag on its side and roll down the plane aisle with ease rather than bumping every seat along the way. Absolutely worth the heavy price tag.

No carry-on holds more and the adjustable covers for each side give great flexibility. Zipper also adds flexibility vs the metal Rimova versions. Much stronger than the Salsa Lite and we’ll worth the extra money. But the best part about Rimowa isn’t the excellent product, it’s the terrific service nationally and in particular at the New York Madison Avenue store. They were amazing at getting me back on the road in one case with a repair and in another with a replacement. It made the complete difference in how my trip got started. My buddy has been using Rimova for 40 years from his first trip and he got me into my first carry on. Tried other top brands, but Rimowa sets the standard.
I'd also recommend:
Briggs and Reilly for a lower price point with great features and service.

Best purchase ever! This small carry on fits as much as a medium sized suitcase, is super sturdy and weighs nothing. Love it.

This is our third Rimowa Salsa Deluxe case. I travel weekly and this is worth every penny, plus it has a five year warranty! Pros: lots of room, zipper tabs lock right the case, so no more broken tabs. Easy to roll with or without laptop bag on top. Cons: kind of big for US domestic travel. It has never been pushed to belly of the plane yet. Will NOT fit in the overhead pull down compartments (middle) on the 747.

Well-designed and thoughtfully constructed, this sturdy piece is a pleasure to use. It's a bit larger than allowed on most domestic airlines, but it is well within the limits for carriers such as Jetblue and can probably fit in most overhead compartments even for airlines that impose a theoretical limit of 45 linear inches. Packing is made easier with the compression straps, and the strong zippers make it possible to close the case even when slightly overloaded. The 4-wheel rollers work well, taking the strain out of moving through lengthy airport concourses even with a second bag sitting on top. Overall, a terrific product that seems worth the premium price.

Great carry on that can handle 3-4 days worth of clothes. Excellent at keeping clothes organized and not wrinkled.

Frequent, global traveler. 5M+ frequent flyer miles. Ordered both the Rimowa Salsa Deluxe - Cabin Multiwheel and Tumi Alpha 2 Continental Expandable 4 wheel. Settled on the Rimowa and returned the Tumi. Zappos is fantastic - no shipping either direction and easy return. Long time Zappos customer as well a long time Tumi customer but switched to Rimowa. Still use Tumi briefcases, which slides nicely on top of the Rimowa suitcase when the handle is extended. My issue with Tumis is weight of the empty suitcase and handles not long enough so it hits my heel when pulled. Tumi needs to make their carry-on handles about 2" longer. This is less of an issue with a multi wheel when you are not pulling it. I didn't like the Tumi internal compartment layout compared to the simpler Rimowa. Found the book-style design easier to pack and separate clothes into two easily accessible sections. This is my first hard sided book-style suitcase and have been pleasantly surprised with the packing/unpacking. While the Rimowa initially looks small, I can get about a weeks worth of clothes in the suitcase (male / no business attire, eg suits). Rimowa looked less sturdier than the Tumi; time will tell how it holds up - particularly the Rimowa zippers. Not a fan of the ribbed gloss black finish - reminds me of Darth Vader's mask. The built-in lock is a nice touch; though, I can see it becoming a problem if the lock malfunctions and the zipper pulls which are inserted into the lock mechanism cannot be released. This problem has been noted by a reviewer for another Rimowa luggage with a similar locking mechanism. Bag glides extremely smoothly and quiet on most surfaces. However, I found the wheels to be loud on the tiled surface at DFW airport. The multi-wheel suitcase is much easier navigate down an airplane aisle. The Rimowa can also be pulled as a standard 2-wheel carry-on and find it easier to do this going up a jet way. Fits the overhead compartment in an MD-80; 737; A320; 777; and 787.

This is a gorgeous bag but beware that it is really shiny! I also think it is listed incorrectly as the same dimensions as some of the other Rimova bags (not sure which is incorrect, but they're definitely not all the same size). In person, this is big. I returned. As a frequent flyer on United (nation and international), I highly doubt you would be allowed to take this on board. At the least, it would be a gamble each time. I exchanged for the Salsa 22 Cabin Multiwheel and am very happy with it.

This is a fantastic, well-engineered product. Why the 3 stars? Solely because it is larger than most airlines allow to be carried onto the plane. TSA personnel are on the lookout for too large luggage and catch this - so far I've been forced to check it 1/3 to 1/2 the time I've traveled with it. With all of that said, the attributes of the luggage are such that I will continue to use it for trips that are 3 days or over. But for those wondering, you do not only have to worry about gate checks but you have to worry about TSA forcing you to check in the luggage as well.

This is my second Rimowa suitcase. I bought the 26" for a trip to Italy and it was perfect. I just purchased the smaller cabin multiwheel prior to my trip to New York. Despite the fact that Rimowa calls it a "cabin" suitcase, both American and Delta said it was too big to be carried onboard. I received special permission to do so, but only because I explained that it was a new suitcase and I was unaware that it would not comply with size restrictions. Next time it will have to be checked. I love Rimowa but I was disappointed that the suitcase turned out to be too large to use as a carry on.
