This suitcase is definitely light weight and easy to handle. It also looks good. But it is not as sturdy as it claims to be. After one long haul plane trip, one of the corners was cracked - probably the result of incorrect handling. But then you cannot expect airlines to handle luggage with kid gloves. I would use this bag for car trips or as carry-on (a smaller size, obviously), but I will not be purchasing another one for airplane travel.

Absolutely the best luggage to travel with! My husband and I travel frequently and were tired of our heavy, 14 lb luggage. We found the Rimowa Salsa Deluxe to be lightweight and was easy to maneuver through airports/train stations. Unlike our previous luggage, our arms never tired from pushing, dragging this luggage. Another plus, the wheels are very smooth, even over rough surfaces! The luggage also held up well - a few scratches, but the major scuffs were removed with a magic Mr. Clean sponge!

I had ordered three different suitcases in order to compare them. To my mind, the Rimowa was the best of them; it was beautifully designed, with a lightweight, surprisingly flexible shell, and it was strong anough to withstand the rigors of airport.

With three children under 10, this suitcase is a lifesaver. My 6 year old is able to push it and maneuver it seamlessly throughout the airport. It is also the perfect size. I debated going with the larger size and am so happy I did not. Fully packed for a two week trip this suitcase weighed in at 49lbs. The larger size would have definitely been overweight. Absolutely worth the investment!

Great bag. I'm becoming a Rimowa convert - this is my 3rd Rimowa bag. I have a Salsa Air 29" and a Salsa deluxe cabin multiwheel. I'm still getting used to using a "clamshell" type of bag (2 equal halves instead of one big cavity to fill), and can see where this setup could be a problem if I were packing something bulky - like big boots or a large giftbox or whatever). But I do like to hang my clothes and put them in a thin suitbag (like the kind that came in my old suitcase) and pack them into the suitcase that way - then when I get where I'm going, I just move the clothes right into the closet and I'm done, while my husband is still unfolding things and putting them on hangers. These (salsa deluxe) bags are great for that kind of packing - the compression system keeps everything from shifting around; my clothes were the least wrinkled ever when packed in the Salsa deluxe. And these bags are so easy to roll along - I don't think I'll ever go back to 2-wheeled bags. I could easily move the 2 29" cases plus the cabin multiwheel (with a smaller bag on top of it) by myself while negotiating the baggage claim area and getting out to the taxi stand. Would not have been possible with 2-wheeled bags.

This is an excellent piece of luggage. I purchased it to replace a large Tumi, which was just too heavy and cumbersome. Time and time again, I was bothered at check in when the bag consistently weighed over 50 pounds. So, I bought the Rimowa. At first, I hated the bag because a) when staying in a hotel room, the bag must be opened completely and will not work on a hotel room luggage stand (those work if the top part is more like a flap, but the Rimowa must be opened 180 degrees); b) after the first trip, there were a number of scratches on it. However, after using the Rimowa on numerous subsequent trips, I love it. Here's why: 1. Weight. Gone are the days of exceeding baggage weight limits and having to pull things out of the bag at the check-in counter. 2. Ease of use. This bag rolls effortlessly and produces little, if any, stress on muscles and joints. Super smooth, which is great if you're navigating a long distance. 3. Packing system. Each side of the bag has a panel which holds clothes in place. My clothes unpack with very few wrinkles. Big plus! I've gotten used to the fact that I won't use the hotel room luggage stands. It's no big deal. The scratches on the bag are now evidence of my travels and I view them as having added character to the bag. Word of advice: some airlines place stickers on the bag, which is annoying. There's a product called Goo Gone, which breaks down the adhesive very well. This is an amazing bag. Ease of use makes it well worth the money.

I am just about ready to buy our eighth piece of Rimowa. The good is that I have wheeled four bags at one time and I am a Grandma not a weight lifter. It is a life changer & I will never go back to the two wheel heavier bags again. The Bad is that If you do not watch it it can roll away, sometimes it dents in the corners (airline probably threw it or it feel off the cart) but a good whack with a rubber mallet will knock it out. I have to return one piece because the zipper separated from the bag. But it has a five year warranty. Overall I am obviously still purchasing these bags they have 200,000 miles on them.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
Cracked after less than ten trips, and my experience was the opposite of the glowing review I read here. The bag was only two years into the five year warranty, and very lightly used. I called Rimowa US service, and they basically told me to pound sand and file a claim with the airline. I own two other Rimowa bags, and after this experience I do not recommend them. I’ll go back to Tumi for this bag’s replacement- as they honor their warranty. I believe these bags are made in the US, and based on just googling “cracked RImowa” I found countless examples and even pictures of my exact model cracking in the same place, which leads me to believe there is a design or manufacturing flaw.

I own 6 pieces of RIMOWA. I will ALWAYS, and for as long as i can travel, own RIMOWA. I'm now eyeing either the 32" Salsa Deluxe and/or one of the Trunks. For those owners who have experienced damage of their case or ANY type of performance-impacting wear, simply contact RIMOWA, give them the Serial Number (S/N) of your case, provide pics if you have them, then sit back and let RIMOWA work its magic!! To find the S/N, turn your case over so its "spine" is visible; there you'll find the bag's S/N. EVERY authentic RIMOWA has a S/N. SWAir damaged my Int'l Cabin MultiWheel. I did just as I described above. RIMOWA sent me a prepaid FEDEX shipping label to return the damaged case. AND, then, they factory-built me a NEW one, fellow travelers!! That was a 4 week process, (but, we all know that quality can't be rushed!), AND they sent me weekly emailed updates about the progress of the new creation. A month later, my NEW replacement case was brought to my front door. AMAZING!! Who else does that??!! Well, ZAPPOS, YES!, of course, but WHO else?!! This luggage is an investment that you will NOT regret. Buy your set, NOW!!

This is the third Rimowa suitcase I have purchased. The first two were carry on size, one for my wife and one for me. This bag we got as our checked luggage bag for travel on longer trips. All of the Rimowa luggage is expensive; however, as a long time traveler that has averaged over 100,000 miles a year in the past and tried a lot of different cases, I can honestly say that Rimowa is the best I have ever used. First, on the Salsa Deluxe, the packing system is simple, reliable and excellent. It allows you to fold clothes, including suits & dress shirts and pack them securely so they come out just like when you put them in and no awkward garnet bags or sleeves to mess with. You can compress everything securely in place. Second, they hold a lot more than you would think. I have traveled for two weeks with just the carry on. These cases roll really easy on hard surfaces and on carpet just tilt and pull and no problem. Extremely well made as evident with the way the zippers are attached (sewn and glued, not just glued like many bags). Bottom line, you get what you paid for!

This bag changed my life! Why did I wait so long to purchase one? I will buy the whole suite of them as soon a I can afford. Spacious, light, easy to maneuver, split case allows me to see everything clearly rather than one deep cavity. Makes organizing a breeze.

This is the second Rimowa Salsa Deluxe we have purchased from Zappos. It's an excellent spinner suitcase, but at a very high price. Very stylish though. The wheels seem more sturdy than those on other spinners. Be aware that it's possible to inadvertently change the lock combination if you're not careful about avoiding the combination change button while turning the number wheels. Learned this lesson the hard way, resulting in my passport, money, and laptop being locked in the suitcase in a not too friendly foreign country. Other brands have this problem too.

This is a stylish, light, functional suitcase. It rolls very easily on smooth surfaces, not so much on rough surfaces, in which case you can still pull it behind you on two (instead of four) sets of wheels. Be aware of an issue with the lock system, it is quite easy to inadvertently change the lock combination if you slightly depress the lock lever and move the lock tumbler wheels at the same time. This happened to us after a long day's travel - leaving us with a locked suitcase and not knowing the new, inadvertent combination. We finally got it open after trying one combination after another.

I have owned this bag for several years and have used it many times. The last airline trip it came off the return baggage with a broken (off) wheel and split side. It did not hold up as expected and is now useless.

At this price point I expected more. Opened night before trip to pack and didn't come with key. Zipper is extremely tough to manage and the stickers the airlines do not come off easily as all as with my other cases. It scratched easily and when packed the handle stuck and I needed help to pull it out in addition expected this size to hold more compared to other cases I have. Ease of use with 4 wheels was great and it is light!
