I loved this bag for 18 months until I recently noticed a crack on the top near the carry handle. Upon further examination, I found an even longer crack on the opposite side of the handle as well. Two co-workers also used Rimowa polycarbonate bags and have had three replaced in the past year due to cracks. As much as I love the design, the way it rolls on carpeted airport terminal floors and the interior of the luggage, I am amazed that such expensive products have only a 5 year warranty and that they don't even last through the warranty period. I am presently awaiting a replacement for my cracked bag and hope that it will survive longer than this one did.

This bag is a dream come true! I have long wanted a "spinner wheel" bag and after much comparison shopping between brands, I decided on both the Rimowa Salsa Deluxe 26" and the 22" cabin model and took them directly to Europe on a long business trip. They glided smoothly through airport departure and arrival, transfer to trains, transfer between trains, and then rolled like butter onto the lift and into to my hotel room. I was by myself with two heavy bags and I have never before traveled so comfortably! I made my choice over the Salsa Air because the Salsa Deluxe line has more ease for packing with the removable packing dividers that allows one to pack every inch full and then strap it all down with the dividers. It also has a more comfortable handle and seems a bit more sturdy. This luggage is well worth the price. I can't wait to use it again! Thanks to Zappos for always being so good!

I've only used it once so I won't be able to rate it yet on how it holds up. First impression is that it's very light, very easy to wheel around on hard surfaces, and the red color is gorgeous and easy to spot at baggage claim. The zipper seems a little iffy but time will have to tell on that. They get such great reviews everywhere that I'm hopeful it holds up well. I'm not in love with the clamshell style where both sides of the suitcase hold clothes rather than having more of a big bottom section with a lid (I'm probably not describing that very well). If you want to keep your clothes in the suitcase rather than unpacking it makes it more of a challenge to get in & out of the suitcase every time you want something. Also, this is my first spinner and while I love how easy it is to push around it does roll away on its own so if you're not on level ground you have to be aware of not letting that happen. And pushing it on the carpeting in my hotel was tough so I ended up tilting it up on 2 wheels anyway - a minor complaint but it's something to consider if most of your floors will be carpeted. It survived its first 2 flights with minimal scuffs and no gouges or deep scratches. I'm worried about the wheels getting snapped off with the way bags are handled but fingers crossed it holds up! I'm giving it 5 stars for now but that might get adjusted if there are zipper or wheel issues over the next few times I use it.

I love Rimowa. I own both the Salsa Deluxe purchased a month ago and the more simple 29 inch standard Salsa, which I have had for 4 years. I travel frequently on the airlines and have found that the Rimowa will survive the beating that the luggage handlers give it. My only fear with the standard was the zipper would not hold up, but it has. These suitcase are as light as a feather and handle with ease on hard surfaces a little more difficult on carpet, but still great. My only concern for the deluxe is that wheels jut out from the body of the case and I am afraid they might get whacked off with rough airline handling, but so far so good.

I had been considering buying this piece for MONTHS and finally bit the bullet. I could not be happier with my purchase. I'm in and out of NYC for work all the time and I was tired of fighting with my luggage at the train station and on the sidewalks. This Rimowa piece glides beautifully and was enjoyable to maneuver through the streets. I also really enjoyed packing, unpacking and repacking in this piece. The compression walls made it easy to keep everything in place and allowed me to easily open the suitcase mid-travel to pull something out without everything falling out. If you travel a lot, or just want an easy travel companion, this is your luggage line! I have already picked out my next piece.

I purchased this for a trip I had to France. It when way beyond the call of duty! When we arrived It was pouring rain. Everyone's suit cases were drenched (I'm sure the articles inside were too). Everything inside my case was dry! Then on returning I placed some street art inside. Because it is a hard case the art wasn't bent at all! I would highly recommend this suit case to everyone! It is also very light and packed much more than I thought possible! It is expensive but for as little as I travel I don't think I will ever have to replace this. Well worth it!

This suitcase is absolutely wonderful. The color (yachting blue) is beautiful - distinctive enough on the luggage carousel but muted enough to be timeless. The boards for compressing the contents of the suitcase are great, and the wheels roll well over a variety of surfaces. Great investment.

I just returned from a two week trip to Japan where my wife and I laughed our way through every airport, train station, and hotel lobby about how thankful we were to have purchased this suitcase. It's hard to imagine something so expensive being "worth the money" but honestly, I can't wait to buy the smaller carry-on version in the future.

For years we used Tumi luggage and when we decided to switch to the new lighter weight bags we looked closely at several brands including Tumi. In side by side comparison we selected Rimowa We recently took the luggage on a trip to Russia and the Olympics. The wheels are better, the handle and it's multi-positions is better. This style of case opens in half and takes up more room in the hotel room which is sometimes difficult but it is much easier to pack and unpack. The flap on each side is important I. The packing process and we leek the flexibility of the Rimowa flap is a better design.

I bought a white set of these. I love the lightweightedness of them but I have to agree with one of the other reviewers, I wish it wasn't a clamshell opening. I would truly love this if it had a top opening. This style takes up the floorspace of 2 suitcases and you have to flip it around each time you open it. That is my biggest complaint. Otherwise, it's a great bag. Light weight beyond belief. I did get dents in it before it even arrived at my house though [in shipping]. They don't make it unusable but Rimowa was willing to offer repairs or financial compensation [small] to make up for it. Another time when the side handle had been broken off during plane baggage transfer, I happened to be in Munich & noticed a Rimowa shop and asked about replacement handles. They looked at my serial number and said - oh, this is covered and replaced it right there for free. I thought that was pretty fantastic. White also gets really scuffed up and dirty, really fast. I tried cleaning it each use but eventually just let it look scruffy. It's a great bag but also wanted to let you know the drawbacks. I'd still buy another - maybe aluminum this time, despite the extra weight, they look awesome.

Wonderful suitcase, just what i needed. Light, strong and 'small' enough to carry on the plane. The 1st suitcase that came was scratched, but Zappos Customer Service was excellent. They sent me a replacement without hassle and I returned the damaged goods with no cost to me. I love Zappos!

I purchased this suitcase in red and it's gorgeous. It's very lightweight and so easy to maneuver. The interior makes it easy to separate clothing and is more spacious than I thought it would be. Not inexpensive, but worth the price.

The best suitcase I've ever had -- worth every penny. It is a bit on the small side and does not have any expansion, so make sure of the size. Otherwise, lightweight, glides effortlessly even when full. The only thing better than the product is Zappos service.

This is my second Rimowa. The reason I purchased it is that the wheels can't be beat. It glides effortlessly across most travel flooring, even over cracks in the sidewalk. And that makes up for the extraordinary cost, and the clam shell, of which, I am not impressed with.

Lovely suitcase when it arrived, very expensive. The rubber handle has torn off and one of the zipper tabs is broken. I looked Rimowa on line and emailed several times. No response. Will not buy these products again.
