T whistle works, if this tea kettle is filled no more than halfway. Otherwise, it will be burned to junk if the temperature is no more than medium of two extremes: Low and High. The handle is plastic on the middle metal cover, and if the heat is too high, the metal cover will melt down those plastic legs of a handle and there will be no way to open this Tea Kettle which is very tight even if is cool. For such a high price OXO was able to make this handle from stainless steel and to paint it in black for aesthetic and long lasting use to prevent melting. The design is very nice, but this item is overpriced compare to similar size Tea Kettles. In general, OXO products are well designed, but overpriced with no exceptions.

I love OXO products, and this teapot is wonderful. Handle doesn't get hot. Love the way that you just hold the handle, tip, and pour.

Great tea kettle! At first I was a little apprehensive to order this tea kettle as I was looking for a purple one. After internet research and reading various reviews I decided against a kettle with a paint or enamel finish (finish can chip or burn) and to select one which is stainless steel. (Also, if you go with stainless steel, you want the 18/8 stainless steel which this kettle is - bonus!) I was also apprehensive about the large rubberized handle I wanted the tea kettle to look classy. I ordered it anyways based on other reviews and I love it! So happy with my decision. It looks great, very shiny and professional. The rubber handle doesn't look cheap in person and doesn't get too hot either when the water is ready, although the manufacturer recommends using a pot holder. No issues with rust yet (I've only had it for 1 month so I would hope not! But, the manufacturer includes instructions on how to clean if necessary.) I also really love the up-lift feature of this kettle, another reason I purchased it I didn't want to have to push buttons or pull triggers to open the spout to avoid burning myself. My only complaint is the whistle is not as loud as I was hoping it would be. If you are only 1-2 rooms away, you should be fine, but I doubt you would hear it if on another level of a house/apartment/etc. I use this kettle 2 or 3 times a day and again, love it! I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Love this Tea Kettle! The look and functionality are great. On the cold days here I use it two and three times. When the heat waves hit it admittedly lies untouched waiting on cooler weather. Over the last several weeks I have used this kettle probably 3-4 dozen times and absolutely love it. The one thing I would say is not my favorite is the whistle. It's a little warbly and not as strong as I would like. I will also say I originally bought the anniversary addition with the cork and it was just not for me. The look may be more aesthetically pleasing but it did not look in place in my black appliance kitchen. I also thought the spout lid was noisier opening and closing. Compared to the silicone handle and lid there is only moderate improvement on "clank" sound from the spout as the interior piece of the lid is also steel. Overall, love this kettle and very happy having it in a permanent place on my stove top.

I have had this tea kettle for about a year now & love it. The butter yellow color is beautiful. It has not rusted at all. The handle does not get hot. It is sturdy. It is easy to fill with water. I think it whistles very well and plenty loud, but not obnoxiously loud. My husband is very happy with it as well. Good value for the money. I researched quite a bit before buying a tea kettle and overall I am very happy with this one and would recommend it to others, definitely! Enjoy & hope this helps you make your decision!

Having ruined my old OXO tea kettle by accidentally leaving it on a hot burner with no water in it, I was really pleased to find they're making these in green now. A nice green is hard to find in a tea kettle. I like these a lot, they boil water faster than the microwave. They're easy to handle, you needn't bring your fingers close to the spout cap to open and close it and it will a pot of tea warm for a good 45 minutes if you leave it on the stove (burner Off). I know many people find the whistle not loud enough - but I have not found this a problem. Mine seems to scream like a banshee. Maybe I have extra sensitive hearing or something. You do need to keep the little whirly thing that whistles clean of mineral deposits, my old one was getting a bit crusted up and that did affect the loudness of the whistle. But I love these OXOs, they're the best tea kettles I've ever used and I've had a couple that were almost 3 times as expensive by high-end kitchenware makers.

So far I'm very happy with the solid built tea kettle. Love the handle! It also seems to heat a lot quicker than my old tea kettle.

Great product--nice and sturdy and attractive. Zappos makes it so easy to find exactly what you want--no traipsing all over the mall to find an almond-colored teapot! Service--ordered one evening and had it less than 24 hours later!

Was always a fan of OXO products. When the time came to get a Tea Kettle, I was debating on getting the 1.8Qt or the 2.0Qt. In the end I decided with the 2.0Qt simply because of the added chrome finishes and the extra capacity. With this product, it's easy and convenient to use based off of the design. However, be cautious when using it after boiling water because it does get really hot. In the end, I will recommend anyway who is interested in buying this product to do so, simply because of the quality and aesthetic appeal it offers. I still get tons of compliments with this product sitting around my kitchen when friends visit.

Very stylish and functional tea kettle. I ordered the black. I've only owned it for about a month, but it seems sturdier than the less expensive models. Perfect size and it whistles beautifully. So far I haven't had to tighten any of the screws as one other reviewer had noted.

The opening is too small and the handle is too close to the top so it is hard to fill. The handle gets hot as steam rises up around the lid. This is not satisfactory as I do not want to bother with a potholder.

The lid is hard to remove and replace. And even when it is on tight, water will leak through the lid, so you cannot use the full capacity. Filling it is very awkward, angling up the handle while filling the spout. The handle does not stay cool. When the handle is up, pouring into the tea pot is at an awkward angle. My most disppointing OXO purchase.

This kettle looks great, but after only a week of use, the plastic on the spout is melting! Definitely going back. Disappointed because otherwise I really like it.
