I normally wear an 8.5 dress shoe, and between 8.5 - 9 in running shoes. I went with a size 9 in the Chippewa logger and find that the boot is perfect for me. The added 1/2 size from my dress shoe is slightly noticeable, but I would not say that the added room is too much that the foot is moving inside the boot. The little bit of extra room is comfortable, and I think my feet will enjoy them in the summer when the feet swell from the heat. Personally, I think an 8.5 would have been a little too binding and somewhat uncomfortable. I also considered cheaper brands like Carhartt, Carolina, and Georgia boot in the logger style. The excellent quality of a Chippewa boot and the Zappos sale pricing made this a winning choice for me. I also received next day shipping to boot. I am now waiting for the warmer weather to arrive so I can enjoy them for what I purchased them for... a good motorcycle ride.

Caught these on a significant sale at Zappos and decided to stray away from my regular brand of loggers. I have worn Carolina boots for approx 20 years and find Chippewa to be superior. Don't worry about them being narrow they are fine if you typically wear a regular width, did not find them to be narrow at all and I am on the wider side of regular. Broke in quickly. Tongue is padded and shoe is lined instead of being bear leather on the inside. Order two and send back the one that does not fit if you are in doubt.

Boots felt wonderful right out of the box, excellent arch support, not as heavy as some loggers they are not insulated which I consider a good thing, the insulation can make feet hot in summer. Very water proof (standing in a creek). They are the best, by far.

I have owned another pair of these boots for a few years so when I got around to thinking about replacing them I immediately went to Zappos.com. Zappos had the exact boots I wanted in the size I needed and all for less than half of what I had paid in a local boot store when I bought my original pair. I ordered them without hesitation since I had the actual SKU number. They arrived within days of ordering them. What I like about Zappos shipping is that they don't send you an email saying that the order has shipped until the day the order is scheduled to be delivered, that is quite clever, and I like clever. When I remember again to buy boots when I need them they will come from Zappos. You can't beat Zappos, enough said!

I never write reviews, but I love these boots enough to make an exception. I got them as motorcycle boots and couldn't be happier with the way they've performed. All day comfort, great protection, good looks, excellent value.

Contrary to another reviewer's comment, the Chippewa 73020 boot is not insulated. It has a brushed ruby Nylex lining, which is simply a lining - not insulation.

Like most things in life, you get what you pay for. This Chippewa boot is pricey, but is a superior product. It felt comfortable straight out of the box. I had them shipped to my office, and when they arrived, I put them on and wore them the entire day comfortably. Amazing for a high top, steel toe work boot! Good sole stiffness and ankle support. I look forward to many years of use from these boots, yard work, mowing grass, home repairs. Highly recommended.

Wow! Was shocked that I ordered these boots last night, and this morning they are here! Loved it! But, they are too small so I need to get my hubby a bigger size.

I purchased this exact boot back in 2005 for my husband. He worked in the automotive industry for 3 years in this boot, then in aviation for another 2 years! He loves these boots, and we are purchasing another pair. They do measure a 1/2 size smaller, so get the next size up than you normally would get! Great product!

I am very happy with this boot. They are comfortable straight out of the box and need very little break in time. They are slightly more narrow than a normal boot so beware if you have a wide foot but it was not a problem for me. Just one serious warning: They are not waterproof and your feet may get damp in wet weather or deep snow!

Looks good, comfortable but more narrow than expected. Chippewa's were made in America, but this is from China.

I love the way these boots look but they are not that comfortable for walking or standing for too long. The inside heel area feels hard on your feet, not enough cushion on heel.

This is insulated, which I didn't notice in the description. I ordered the extra wide and it was still too narrow in the (steel) toe.

Men's size 7 a little big for women's 7.5 but very comfortable! My first pair of Chippewas lasted 15 years of hard wear.

These boots are of high quality, and possibly much larger than they may seem in the picture. The heel is very high, as with many logger boots, and will likely add 2" to your height, which can be strange. The boots are very well-crafted and beautiful.

I have worn Chippewa boots for over 6 years. I broke both my feet in a fall so I have to wear above the ankle footwear. I had been searching for quite a while to find some boots that would keep mt feet supported and comfortable, hard to find both. I always bought boots at stores until someone said try Zappos and I did - great move. I always check to see when they have a sale on these boots, what a savings. When I place my order it arrives the next day - unbelievable. I don't have to leave my home or spend money on gas. The best part is return them no problem. I have never sent anything back. Thanks Zappos for great buys and customer service!

These are a great rugged shoe. I got them for my husband and he said that the only part that needed a little breaking in was around the ankle. He said the arch support is good and if your foot is a regular width they should not be tight - if your foot is wider, then you might need a half size bigger. He has had this shoe before and it lasted three years with rugged use. Great price and a great boot! Will purchase again in the future.

Rapid delivery of the item. Well made boot. Fairly comfortable. Chippewa boots run very narrow so I ordered an E width rather than my normal D width.

Good fit out of the box, took a few days of wear to break in proper but totally comfortable now.
I gave them my usual boot prep -- heat in a warm oven for 10 min or so, apply a liberal coat of Huberd's Shoe Grease, back in the oven for another 10 or so then rub down with an old t-shirt. Then I give them a weekly coat of leather conditioner. This treatment results in the boots being practically waterproof, and it makes the upper supple. You can't wade in a lake for 30 minutes, but walking in 5-6 inches of water for a couple minutes will not get your feet wet.
I work on a concrete floor all day now, and my feet are usually OK after 9 or 10 hours. I'm planning to add an insole for a bit more padding, but I'm not unhappy with the comfort. If I were working outside they'd be completely OK.
You can find cheaper boots, but I'm happy these are US made and can be resoled. If I'm not still wearing these in 10 years I'll be surprised.

Bought these boots as a gift for my nephew who is a firefighter/ems. They are great and he wears them all the time. They fit true to size and he loves them because they are comfortable and not too heavy when he is on his feet all day. These boots are very durable and are an all around great boot. Would definitely buy another pair!

This is my first steel toe boot I have every bought. I work at a year around residential camp for youth. These boots are great the huge sole make easy work of mud and any terrain that you got. Not to mention they clean up nice when u have to go into public (i.e. offices, restaurants, etc). The one down side to this boot is they take a while to break in two half weeks for me.

Great boot. I have been buying steel toe boots for over 35 years (I'm an exploration geologist) and these are the best I have had. I have a wide foot and the E width fit very well. I also wear heavy socks and got 1/2 size larger due to that. Again, they work great. They took a few days to break in for rough terrain but now they fully support my ankles and feet doing the toughest duty. They were on sale so I bought them based on reviews since I have never had this brand and I'm glad I went with them.
