I've been wearing what is now called the sk8 Hi for quite a few years. Basically on and off since I was a kid. Now I'm pushing 40 and they are beginning to hurt. The big thing that has plagued me is the fact that the insole is not removable and adding insoles snugs them up a bit too much. Vans has come up with the perfect solution with the Pro model! A little more toe room and a great padded insole make this shoe just that much better. The shoe is perfect in my opinion. It's exactly what is older guys needed!!! Thanks guys! And thanks Zappos for being there for us. Top notch customer service is always appreciated. Never had a bad experience. In fact, I've never even had a good experience. It's always great.

I've always wore adidas, sketchers, and k swiss shoes. This is my first pair of vans. Was looking for a solid black pair of shoes for casual wear. Came down to these vs converse based on the looks and reviews. These have a nice low profile, classic, casual look. Zappos shipping is insane. I had my shoes in about 27 hours to the minute. I generally wear size 9.5 mens but based on reviews here and the vans official site I ordered a size 9. And they fit perfect. I'd recommend watching a YouTube video on lacing your vans the skater way or ask a teenager, lol. Laced this way it literally feels like I don't have any shoes on. They're light and soft to stand and walk in . And super quiet. These could be ninja shoes. Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase and I will definitely buy more vans in the future. Love zappos shipping. No other company anywhere gets you your product as fast as they do. I couldn't have drove there myself and got them any faster.

My son loved these sneakers. He asked for 1 or 2 more pairs for Christmas and just after placing the order for another pair he came home to show me the sole separated from the side of the shoe. It appears to be a manufacturers defect as he has only owned these for less the 3 months. Zappos processed a return and replacement (same color was not available) and credited us for the remaining amount. We did need to send the shoes back within 14 days which wasn't a big deal.

Pro model has much better support than the originals

The look of these shoes are retro and modern at the same time. They look great with slim fit pants. I'm only able to wear pro mode vans because they have a removable insole that allows me to place my custom orthotics inside. The standard insole on this show is very thick and super comfy. I highly recommend trying these shoes!

I have been wearing Vans hi-tops for 35yrs now, and I can truly say that these are leaps and bounds ahead of what Vans has offered in the past. The comfort and support offered by the new & improved removable insert make your feet think you're wearing a pair of New Balance running shoes or something. Absolutely astounding!

These are great! I have high arches and found the insole to lack enough arch support so I put another insole in. Beyond that these shoes are great, people comment on them all the time. Also, because they're unisex, the shoe is a bit wider at the toe and sides than conventional women's shoes. Which is a plus for me, but people with narrow feet might want to take that into consideration. The soles have no tread at all and are slightly slippery on wet pavement (the no tread thing might make it a skater shoe? I just bought it for looks.) Anyway it's a great shoe if you're looking for a high-top that's not converse.

Grew up racing BMX and skating in Vans. Ive literally owned probably a hundred pairs and so does everyone I know. They are the coolest looking rock n roll shoe on earth but crap are they uncomfortable. I am now 39 years old and have bad knees and I know these shoes had a lot to do with that over the years. They are flat as the earth itself and have no heel support at all. They are like classic chucks, look cool but bad for your feet. Vans tried to make a comfortable version of this but failed. It's impossible to make a comfortable shoe totally flat soles and these wouldnt be the classic shoe they are with heels so... I oficially stopped buying them in 2019

These shoes are absolutely perfect for skating, chilling or even if you had an ape or two to shave! The first time I had them on I could tell... I could tell that I could shave apes until my clippers went dead! Listen..I like shaving apes! I actually come from a very long line of avid ape shavers. So if you like the comfort of vans, and you enjoy a freshly shorn ape, then these are the kicks for you!

Bought these for cooler weather and trail riding on my OneWheel. While they’re definitely not built for frigid temps, the style points and board control are great as expected and also help to protect my ankles from the board during a fall. They’re more comfortable than I expected, honestly. I’m glad I purchased these, and they were my first Vans purchase!

This sneaker feels amazing. Very comfortable and great to walk in. Very pleasantly surprised how good these sneakers feel in my feet.

Was drawn by the colorway, but stayed for the Vans allegiance. Love the fit and function of these, as usual. Great stuff.

Wow! The removable insoles are an excellent feature. Still on the flat side but this insole really helps with comfort. I only wish the blk/red color combo in my size was still available, as my teenager has taken them over.

*I don't skate so I'm rating this on just every day wear.*I have a pair of Old Skool Core Classics and love them, but these SK8-Hi Pros are so much better. The insole makes such a difference. Very comfortable!!! You can feel the cushion with every step. I work in a restaurant and these have excellent traction. When I walk through the kitchen I hardly slide around. I also have a weird knee so shock absorbtion is important for me and I don't feel any stress on my knee when wearing these. I've had them for about a month and they're now broken in and feel great. I'm sure they'll last a long time because the construction feels very sturdy.

I've had a few pairs of these in the past but they've always had a weird kind of faux leather internally. These have a nice soft cloth interior and I can't even say how comfortable they are. I work in retail and I'm standing on a hard stone floor all day, every pair of sneakers I've ever worn there have been uncomfortable after a certain amount of time - not these. These are great looking, comfortable shoes. And Zappos customer service is incredible. I had the pleasure of speaking with someone who completely made my day and this experience just furthered the admiration I have for them.

I’ve been buying these SK8 Hi’s for skateboarding since the 80s, back when no one called them SK8 Hi and there were only a handful of Vans models to choose from. They’ve always felt kind of like an overbuilt pair of All Stars- very sturdy uppers, soles that wore through, and hard inside with no support from the insoles. Thankfully the Pro versions have come out for pretty much every classic pair of Vans, and they are great. Finally there’s some cushioning and support inside, and you can remove the insoles if need be. Not a lot of arch support specifically, but Vans are about board feel- too much cushioning and you can’t feel your board under your feet for control. You’ll still get an Ollie hole in a week, but at least your knees won’t hurt! Also, I’ve found that with Vans Pros I need to order a 1/2 size up or my toes are crammed in both in width and length.

Been eyeing a pair of these shoes for a while and finally got a pair. I've always loved the look of the black shoe with gum sole and Vans have always been a comfortable go-to for me. Shipping was very quick and the package arrived in great condition. Shoes took a little bit to get broke in but once they were shaped to my feet a bit they got very comfortable. An unfortunate incident occurred though when I noticed that there was a large hole that burst open along the inside left shoe right above the rubber siding. The shoes were but only a week old since arriving to me! Bear in mind, I wore the shoes everyday from the first day I got them but I never put them through any sort of stress. I was actually pretty careful as I usually am with new shoes. However, I contacted customer support and explained the situation. After a brief discussion they happily agreed to make an exchange as the shoes not lasting hardly over a week was unbelievable. Overall, I'm very pleased with the shoes though. Style wise, they slay. Comfort is great for someone who is used to wearing Vans or Converse most of the time. If you've been thinking about getting some of these I'd highly recommend them, especially from Zappos with their great customer support!

These would've been great had they not fallen apart after a few wears, the shoe separated at the toe like the glue was bad.

My go to shoe for bmx. Good ankle protection and grippy.

We bought these for our adult son for Christmas. He reallyreally loves them and has purchased additional pairs. The fit is great and they seem to wear well.
