These are terrific boots, but they run far longer than my other Ahnu shoes, so I returned. I had sized up 1/2 because it's a hiker, but that was unnecessary in this shoe. I've had the low Montara for years and love them also. The one design flaw is the way the tongue is sewn, which causes a little hard rock to sit on my ankle bone, and so I'm not sure if I can keep the one in my size. If that little sewn flap doesn't hit your ankle bone, then you're fine.

I purchased the Montara II waterproof hiking shoe several years ago so I ordered this boot in the same size. This version ran at least a half size too big so unfortunately I had to return it.

I have had these almost a year and they have held up very well considering how much abuse I give them. I did have to replace the insoles because I hike in very rocky places and the included insoles did not provide much cushion.

These boots are wonderful for short hikes of a few hours. I have high arches and luckily the boots do not rub on the top of my feet even with thick wool socks. I wouldn't mind a bit more arch support, but that's because I'm accustomed to that sort of feel. They kept my feet dry during a hike in light snow and provide good traction on slippery rocks and leaves.

I just bought my 4th pair of Ahnu Montara boots. They are very comfortable and well made. They would be perfect except that the waterproofing eventually wears out - well, they stop being waterproof. But this is after a LOT of wear.

I can't say enough about these boots...they are amazing and saved my life today! I almost returned them because they're expensive af but they were so cute and comfortable I decided to keep them and I'm so glad I did. Husband and I went hiking at Red Rock Canyon in Southern California and decided to trailblaze down one of the canyon faces...really bad, dumb, awful idea and I wouldn't recommend it! But these boots held up. I was panicking and scared but didn't slip once, I had traction like a lizard scurrying down those rocks. Amazing boots, so much grip! And the red ones are gorgeous!

THIS IS THE BEST PAIR OF HIKING BOOTS I EVER BOUGHT. PERIOD. :) (AND THEY ARE REALLY CUTE, TOO!)
Seriously.
No break in period needed. The first day I wore it I walked 3.5 miles. Second day about 5. Next time 10.5 on a moderate to seriously difficult mountain hike. This kept my ankles steady -- no blisters, and dry feet despite lots of muddy areas and streams. The following day 6 miles in constant rain -- lots of puddles -- and again, dry, comfortable feet.
I can't rave enough about them!
I wear 10's and bought 11's because when I hike my toes can bang against the top and hurt. With these, my ankles were secured and even though my toes extended, the extra room was just perfect and I had no pain despite some very steep vertical drops. My feet were warm, dry, comfortable. Ahh......
GO FOR IT!

Love the color choices. Someone reviewed like walking on pillows, I wouldn't say that. The arch support is perfect for me. I like the speed lacing. So far keeping my feet dry inside and out. I often have a problem with my feet sliding back and forth in shoes, especially going downhill. My feet aren't narrow but they are on the slender side. I often end up with the bottom of my feet burning in about three miles. I do not have that problem with these boots. Which is what I was hoping for with the support system in this boot. I have only worn them so far with thinner hiking socks,as it has been warm out. I have tried them on with thicker socks and they are even better. I wear a 7 1/2 I purchased these in an 8. I'm glad I did, I have perfect toe room in the 8.

I bought these boots 3 or 4 years ago for week-long hiking trips once or twice a year, so they've been used about 5 or 6 times and sat in the closet the rest of the time. As many other reviewers have noted, they are super comfortable with no break-in required. I found the traction and overall stability to be good even on rocky, gravely descents. They still look nice too. But -- and it's a huge but with me -- the waterproofing has not lasted at all on either boot. They become soaked just from walking through wet vegetation. I am very disappointed in the Anhus. As a side note, I've also had two pairs of the shoe version of the Anhu Montara for daily cross-country walks with my dog. They did not last at all. The waterproofing was minimal from the start, and before long, the leather cracked and split away from the sole. Sadly, I will not waste any more money on Anhus, despite the superior comfort, cute styling and great colors.

Ordered a half size up (I'm a 6), and it still felt tight and narrow in the footbed. Otherwise felt well made and very comfortable. Not very stylish but they're practical

Bought these the first time earlier this year. Wore them out of the box hiking in Kentucky's Natural Bridge State Park without issue. Thought they were good boots. Then, this week in Baton Rouge, they got a work out gutting homes impacted by the flood. They kept my feet dry in the toxic water left behind as I ripped out sheet rock, carried out soggy carpet, waded through the debris of people' lives and helped them reclaim their homes. Mine are a little worse for the wear now after multiple homes and some nasty stuff, but they never let me down. I ordered a new pair this week.

These boots are amazing! I decided on these based on a review I read of a lady with weak pronating arches who found these comfortable and she was not wrong! I also have the same problem and I was wearing new balance shoes with insoles but my feet would still hurt in the morning and at the end of the day. With these, I hardly have any foot pain and it's so comfortable to walk now. What I especially love about them is that they don't look like hiking boots per se, they look trendy ( i got the grey ones). I have only used these for city walking not hiking, I did go up a really steep hill once and found that the back of my heel rubbed against the boot kind of painfully, I don't know if it was because they were new or because I bought a half size up as recommended. I have not tried since that one time.

Super comfortable boot! I have problem feet and toes...a wide foot, with bunions and hammertoes....so I am always on the lookout for a shoe/boot that will address those issues. The toe box of these Ahnu Montara boots allows enough width and height space to accommodate my always-sore feet. Big, big plus for me. I thought they would need a breaking-in period, but my feet were happy right from the start and stayed that way through use. Also love the lace hooks at the top...very convenient, and the color is gorgeous. Quality construction, quality feel.

These are very lightweight and comfortable to wear all day - I was struggling to find a pair of black work boots and these are the only boots I found that are light enough and supportive enough for me to wear all day on my feet - they're not technically work boots and don't offer steel toe or other features sometimes required by safety standards but this is the best I found after trying on more than a dozen different brands/styles of boots.

I bought these in red for a trip to Iceland. The boots were comfortable right out of the box and needed no break in. I wore them hiking in snow on a glacier tour, and on a very wet whale watching tour, and my feet stayed dry and warm. When my feet swelled after the third wearing I was glad I had bought half a size up. My only problem was sore feet after a hike on some very rough trails covered in large loose volcanic rock. It's a great book for typical hiking, wish I had them in all the colors!

My first pair of hiking boots ever, so I did a lot of online research before selecting these. They were kind of a compromise in terms of looks, function, and price. I would prefer a more traditional leather boot to the newer technology-driven sneaker style hiking boot, but I wasn't ready to invest just yet. These have the tech materials but don't look *too* athletic due to the brown leather and mid rise. I wanted ankle coverage to keep debris out and because I hike in areas with rattlesnakes. The lacing allows for adjusting the stability of the ankle, but I wish the ankle part of the boot was less bulky. These seem true to size, but I followed recommendations to order 1/2 size up to allow for hiking socks and swelling. Truly no real break in time; I wore a couple times around the house just to loosen up before taking them out on the trail. I haven't had them long enough to speak to long term wear. Reasonably priced, good performance so far, so-so looks.

This is a great hiking boot and I highly recommend it! After a lot of research and reading tons of reviews, I thought that this would be the boot for me, and thankfully it was. Many reviewers said that the boot is comfortable and requires no break in period. They were correct. I used these boots on a "test hike" in the Grand Canyon to make sure they were comfortable and fit correctly before the undertaking the difficult hike of my life thus far: the Fimmv r uh ls in Iceland. The boots were fantastic from the very first hike in AZ, and held up perfectly in Iceland. The weather on the Iceland hike (last week) was very harsh, and others in my group who were wearing other boots ended up with wet feet. My feet remained dry the whole time, even in the heavy rain, 60-80 mph winds, and snow we ended up hiking through for 3 miles of the 15 mile hike. They handled an incredible diversity of terrain as well. The boots are much lighter than other brands and that is a plus for me. I also love the color (I bought the purple) and have gotten compliments on the look of the boots. But for me, the look for the boot is secondary to the performance. And the performance of these boots was awesome. If they can withstand the terrain and weather of the Fimmv r uh ls, I believe they will work for any hike. Highly recommend!

I have owned this boot for 2 years now. I have to say it is light, and comfortable right out of the box. This would be the perfect hiking boot for 99% of anyone's hikes. I really like it. I never even treated mine with nix and hiked 2 days in the rain and they were still dry. The only thing I would warn someone is the sole is flexible, which is comfy on normal hikes, but if you are backpacking with a heavier pack and going over a lot of rocks the soles of your feet will hurt or her bruised. They are too flexible for this type of hiking, but something with a thicker stiffer sole. These get rave reviews from a lot of hiking sites also, and they all say the same about the sole, I am sure this keeps them light. These are a wonderful boot for most any normal hiking and I do like mine.

Been through a lot of different hiking shoes but finally for a person with narrow feet this shoes is the best. The quality is just amazing. Perfect for different kind of trails. The grip is so good that you'll be confident enough not to slide on steep trails.

Really comfortable... I haven't tested them on a serious hike yet, but so far so good for walking treks about town. I did order a 9.5 because I normally wear a 9 or a 40 European, so I thought that would be good for hiking socks and plenty of room for my toes when hiking downhill! The color is a subtle burghundy, not deep wine color.

Usually I get size 10 hiking boots, but these fit in a 9. I ended up getting a 9.5 to accommodate thick socks, but I still haven't ruled out the size 9s. They feel amazing, just walking around the house so far, they seem to be wonderful. Love the color (dark brown and blue). Looking to take these to some very cold, rainy places.

I have to say these are some of the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. I ordered a few different pairs and chose these based off style and comfort. I wore these on a 6 mile hike in Colorado and my feet never felt the uneven terrain we walked on. It felt like I was walked on nice even surface. By the end of the hike my feet still felt great. Great looking boots too! Highly recommend them and no need to break them in either. I went up 1/2 a size to have room for thick socks and they fit perfect.

I loved the look of these boots. I also have a narrow foot and loved that I didn't flop around in them. Unfortunately I had 2 issues. I had difficulty with the comfort of the tongue against my ankle due to a sharp edge on the seam. I tried a different pair on in a store and although it was better it still was not as comfortable as some of the other boots I tried on. It was also less supportive. Even after putting my orthotics in the shoe I was still pronating in them. Very disappointed in the lack of support, especially for the price. I will be sending them back.
