I bought a pair of Sorel Cumberland boots five years ago. I live in Chicago and walk about 3 miles a day between my house, the train and my office - when you factor in walking the dog, it is probably closer to 4 miles a day. My only complaint about these boots? That five years later they are still completely waterproof, keep my feet warm and toasty and the treads are still in really good shape. I want an excuse to buy new boots! These boots have been completely awesome and held up to everything I have put them through. There are plenty of people who don't shovel their sidewalks, but my feet are always warm and dry. The big lug soles give some much-needed traction on icy sidewalks, too. You can't go wrong with these boots!

I needed a boot that balanced warmth and weight and this was a great choice. I am a size 9.5 and ordered a 10 for space for thick socks. I wore them all day yesterday with a standard weight sock. Outdoors my legs and hands were cold and my feet were not. My feet didn't sweat when I was indoors either. I would probably wear a heavier sock if I was going to be outdoors for a long time. I considered several styles, but chose this one because it was not too heavy, was pretty tall and had laces making it easy to adjust for my calves. I have not had a chance to find out how waterproof the boot is.

Love these boots! I live in Michigan - it's been cold here. These are really warm boots, but cute too. I was worried about snow maybe getting around the lacing, but the sides are attached to the boot itself, so there is no way snow can get in these unless it went over the top. I am accustomed to some really tall snowdrifts and I don't think that will be a problem. They come up high enough. I can also wear two pair of socks with these boots, and did not have a problem with them not being wide enough or too tight. Very happy with these!

Just received these boots today. Not only are they cute but they are very comfy!

These boots are perfect for Chicago winters -- tall enough to tuck in pants and keep snow out and light enough to wear comfortably through long walks in the snow. This lightness is a really redeeming quality. Too many warm boots are cloddingly heavy. The trade off is that they don't seem to be as warm as promised. I ordered up a half size, and am glad I did because I had to use a heavier pair of socks for warmth.

I've ordered and returned several pairs of these trying to find the right size. I think it's great that Sorel wanted to make a less clunky snow boot for a woman's foot, but they actually went a little too narrow in the toe area. My feet are average width, but my toes felt squeezed, and that was after I tried on literally 5 different sizes (from a 7 to a 9)! They are cute for snow boots, definitely less huge and therefore more wearable. They seem sturdy, but I can't keep them as they hurt my toes, even as my heels are slipping out of larger sizes! The search continues.

Love, love, love these boots! I bought them for a ski trip and they worked out perfectly! I wore them every day of my vacation. They are very comfortable and my feet stayed warm and dry while playing in the snow with my kids. I ordered a half size larger than my usual shoe size, like I do with all boots.

Just what I wanted. These boots are warm, very comfortable, and have good traction in snow and on ice. They are attractive too!

I bought these mainly for snowshoeing, but we haven't had enough snow. I've been wearing them to walk my son to the bus stop and they are very comfortable. They are not very good on ice though. They seem to be really warm. I ordered 1/2 size bigger so that I can wear thick socks; even without the thick socks they fit pretty well. I am really happy with these boots, now just wish we would get some snow!

I was looking for a boot with some comfort, warmth, and style. Managed to find all 3! I took the advice of other reviews and got these boats a half size larger. However, they're pretty warm without having to put on thick socks also, so maybe could have gotten away with getting my usual 8.

Nice boot. Runs small. I tried my size and a half size larger and my toes still bump the front. Looks to be a very waterproof and snow proof boot. Would recommend. Just size up one full size to start.

Looking for a nice warm winter boot; tried these on in a store which did not have the light color; the size 8M in the store fit just right, even though I have a wide 7-1/2 foot. The ones I ordered at Zappos are way too tight, even though marked an 8M. Hmmm....has happened before (in store fits, internet purchase same size doesn't). Just wondering why. Sorels are good boots; have a similar Columbia same style, 8M, which fits OK. Could these Sorels be miss marked size-wise?

I love these boots. We just moved to Colorado and I bought them to take on a trip to Aspen. We walked and hiked and my feet felt good. Only once did I feel like my feet might be getting wet from snow piled up on top of my foot (and melting into the boot) but they dried quickly. I had ordered a 1/2 size larger than normal and they fit great!

I love them! They are comfortable, and provide just the right amount of snugness. They are definitely stylish and warm!

I love these boots. They fit well all over, and are keeping my toes, feet, and ankles warm and dry in the Denver snow. And, they don't feel clunky. Buy them!

Got them today and cannot wait to wear them in the snow tomorrow. These boots feel and look great and are toasty warm inside. If they are anything like my Sorel hiking boots they will be just as warm and functional outside. Thanks Zappos for having larger sizes and shipping so quickly!

Love Sorel's! This is a comfortable boot, especially for a snow boot. It's roomy enough in the width. Easy to get used to, no break in required.

Keeps my feet warm and dry, I'm thinking I should have returned for an 8 1/2, but Kept my size 9's. I'm a 9 in every other shoe, this is a big but it is a winter boot. Have not yet had snow but did go out on a wet cold rainy day and my feet were dry and warm. Overall good boot.

My daughter tried on lots of boots before we found these. She has a narrow last but needs a large toe box. These were perfect. Sadly (for her) we did not get lots of snow this winter. She wears an 8.5 sneaker and we purchased size 10. 9.5 would have been a good fit but we wanted to buy up since she is still growing.

I love the boots. They are light enough to go snowshoeing for a couple hours without feeling weighed down. I am glad that I scanned the other reviews and ordered one size larger. These boots keep my feet warm!

I love these boots, I had ordered some other ones that did not fit as well, so saw these and after breaking them in, they fit great! The ordering and return process was very simple.

Lightweight and flexible. With my high arch they felt very snug across the top of my foot. A little too tight for comfort overall. Not much room for a smartwool sock.

Just got these boots in the mail. I'm a size 8 but ordered a size 8.5 because I went based off of what other buyers suggested on how you should order a 1/2 size larger than your normal size AND I'M GLAD I DID. I tried them on, they're so comfortable, enough toe room and you could even wear thick socks with it. I'm an 8 and have wide feet so ordering and 8.5 was perfect because these boots do not snug me too much or hurt the side of my pinky toes. I have yet to wear them in the snow, as I live in Boston and it has not snowed yet, but by the looks of these boots they really look like they can handle the New England weather. I definitely recommend them! They're cute too. Worth every penny.

First-rate winter/mud-season boot! I tried about four different Sorel styles this fall/winter, trying to find just the right one to wear while running errands and wading through slushy parking lots, shoveling, and of course, making it through Mud Season. These were the no-holds-barred winners. They are SO warm, you don't even need thick socks, and I have been nearly up to my ankles in mud and slush, and my feet remained warm and dry. I living in the Northeast, so I have plenty of boots for deep-snow activity, and dress, but I needed something that would not look ridiculous while running around town, or shopping in Boston or NYC, but would also hold up to the vagaries of winter. You really can't go wrong with these. They are super comfortable, ultra-warm, well sealed, and yet also lightweight. I took to heart the reviewer from Chicago who said she walks miles and miles in these, and I can see how. They come up to the lower calf, so you can slip skinnies or tights into them, no problem. A couple of notes: I found these ran quite large, and ended up going a full size down (I have very narrow feet). Also, the toe box is very well padded with Thinsulate; if you have arthritis or have broken toes over the years, you might need to wear these gently a few times to break in that area. It can really press down on the toes at first, but gives over time. I also didn't find the innersoles very cushy, so I switched them out for some Dr. Scholl's ultra-cushiony 3/4 soles with sheepskin liner on top. They are now cloudlike.
