This ballet flat is adorable and the blue is beautiful. I had to send them back since I have a tiny heel and putting in heel bumpers never works for me. Otherwise, they fit true to size or perhaps a smidge bigger.

"Lilac" smooth leather style is my sixth pair of FRYE CARSON BALLET FLATS and everything I expected: Excellent quality, style, and fit. Four stars for disappointing color. Not at all LILAC but not really taupe or beige. ZAPPOS offered at considerable savings - I'm keep to wear with jeans and maybe Chino shorts. Photos with flash and natural light to show color. Full shoe shows style

Beautiful flat; gorgeous color (cognac) but CRAZY narrow. I have the most average feet on the planet...and consistently a 7.5 in Frye. Length is fine but width...no way. Other reviews claim these are ready to wear all day out of the box. I would disagree. Leather is beautiful but tough and would need breaking in.

I really like the simplicity of these. I\'ve wanted a ballet flat without embellishment (bows, flowers, etc.) and since I have 3 other pairs of Frye shoes and feel confident in the brand I thought I\'d give these a try. I ordered them in the dark brown in my usual size 7 and they fit great. The sole is a little slippery, even indoors, but hopefully once I wear them outside they\'ll scuff up enough to have some traction. That\'s my one complaint with Frye shoes-- the soles are always very smooth, shiny, and slippery and I have babies that I carry around and really don\'t want to slip and fall because of my shoes! Overall these are just what I have been looking for and I look forward to them conforming to my feet and becoming even more comfortable than they are out of the box. I may even come back for a second pair-- after I snag a pair of Frye\'s great looking oxfords.

The fit and style are as you would expect. The color though was off. The beige was more salmon, than sand. If it had been as pictured, great. But for the price just a bit too off.

For the first six weeks that I owned this shoe, I loved it, but it stretched out to the point of being pretty much unwearable. Ladies with wider feet: these are beautiful, comfortable, durable, supportive shoes. Ladies with narrow feet, especially narrow heels: beware these shoes. Look at the Regina or the Emma from Frye instead. If you do purchase these shoes, avoid the nubuck, which apparently stretches more than the regular leather (according to the Frye salespeople). I purchased these shoes from the Frye flagship store in Soho (NYC), so I had a chance to try them on before I bought them. They fit beautifully in the store, and I loved that they could be resoled. I wear a 9 or a 9.5, and I bought the black nubuck ones in a 9. I took them on a trip and wore them all day, every day, walking in them for miles, and they felt great. I almost bought another pair in another style. BUT. I am very glad I didn't. Now, after having had them for less than two months, they have stretched out so much that I was constantly stepping on the backs of the shoes when I walked and squashing the leather. I took them to the Frye store and found out that the warranty didn't apply to stretched out shoes, only to broken shoes. (The salesperson there told me that the nubuck stretches more than regular leather because it's softer.) I took them to the cobbler who braced the backs with some stiffer leather, and now they are somewhat more wearable. But I shuffle when I walk in them. They are not very appropriate for professional wear because they are now too big. Because I really need a pair of black dress flats, I bought the Regina ones, also from Frye. They are much narrower, and the heels are stiffer, so I think they will fit better in the long run. They require more breaking in, but I think that means they will actually fit in the long run. Ladies, if you have narrow feet and are reading all these reviews and notice the ones that say this shoe is really loose, accommodating for wide feet, doesn't have lots of structure, etc., and are asking yourself if it will be a problem in the long run, as I did: yes, in my experience, it will become a problem. But the Regina ones are better. The salesperson at the Frye store told me that the narrowest flats Frye makes are the Emma style, so you might try those, too.

I wanted to like these, but they felt surprisingly flimsy & cheap for the price. I also was terrified to wear them anywhere outside the house because the soles are so so slick. I ended up returning them.

I'm a size 10 and prefer wide width to accommodate my bunions. This shoe is regular width, but it works out because the size is a bit loose. I also have the same experience as the other reviwer's post about the shoe being too slippery and leather wearing down too quickly. After 1 day in the office and going to some meetings offsite - the bottom is hideous. I skid so many times on many different surfaces.

I love the way these look and feel - and I wear them all the time - but they stretch like crazy and about four months after I bought them, I was walking out of them. The heel widens and they are very loose now, which is really disappointing since they are so comfortable. They are also extremely slippery - particularly on wood surfaces and the edge of stairs. I actually fell down an entire flight of stairs in these shoes.

Given the price, the quality of the leather finish was disappointing with areas of discoloration around the toe.

I wanted to love and keep these so badly. The leather is gorgeous - and they smell wonderful! However, when testing them out, I slipped and fell in them - the soles are very slick. I have to wear flats since I have young children, and after falling in them, I couldn't risk it. So sad - I was in love with these!

These shoes are adorable, but I wish they were better constructed. The sole of the shoe is just leather, which is completely impractical. For the first month or so, you slide and slip everywhere. The only reason it gets better is that the sole starts to wear away, and all the pits and grooves give you traction. After a year of regular use, there are holes in the soles of my pair. I bought my regular size in these shoes and they stretched a good half size up. They're very comfortable, but as others have noted, there's not a lot keeping them on your foot once they stretch a bit. I'm not sure if sizing down would help or if the shoes would just keep stretching. These are really cute flats that I'm sad to throw out (due to the stretching and the holes), but I'm not sure if I'll get another pair. If I put a rubber sole on and maybe bought some inserts it might work out better, but these are expensive enough shoes that it feels crazy to spend time and money modifying a brand new pair to get them to meet some baseline level of shoe functionality. I've had other Frye flats last me 5+ years. What's up with these Carsons?

I loved this shoe. The feel and look of the leather was amazing. There was no arch support, and not much cushioning in them, but I could overlook that. My problem with the shoe was the in the soles. They were so slippery on certain surfaces. My office's carpeting and the cement stairwells both proved to be a hazard. I've never been able to slide across carpeting before. I couldn't, safely, wear them to work, so I had to return them. I just wasn't willing to spend this much to only have to pay more to put new soles on them. I wish Frye would take this into consideration when making the shoe.

While I really liked the feel of the leather, the shoe was sloppy on the sides and had no internal support. Not what I expected for the price.

Let me start by saying, I ordered these shoes and was so excited about them. I opened the shipping box to find a pair of cheap, plastic Naturalizers!! Courtney, with customer service, proceeds to tell me she’s happy to do an exchange..an exchange? The order wasn’t correct! She then proceeds to tell me that after we do the “exchange” and if I’m not happy with the Frye ballet flats, they will credit my Zappos account (not my credit card!!) What the heck Zappos! Needless to say I’m just returning the wrong shoes they sent. I hope they refund me for the Frye ballet flats they didn’t send. Last time ordering from Zappos!! If you take your chances with Zappos, I hope you get the correct shoe. These are so lovely!!

These are the worst flats I have ever purchased. The leather of the shoe itself is great, but the soles are garbage. I bought them six months ago, and the soles of each shoe are now worn clear through. I do not expect this from a shoe that costs this much. I do walk outside a fair amount during the day (from the parking lot at work to my office), and I've worn these shoes some on the weekends as well. I suppose these shoes may be fine if you are ONLY wearing them at work around your office, but any real wear, where you are actually walking outside, tears these shoes to bits. I have other Frye shoes that are long-lasting as Frye's are supposed to be, but these do not stand up to the brand's promise of durability. I'm extremely disappointed. I've had Target flats that have lasted longer. Also, be aware that these offer zero support. Yes, they are flats, but there is literally no support. Though they are very comfortable in general, my feet begin to hurt after a while due to the lack of support.

I LOVE these shoes that I have them in at least 5 colors, and have worn this style and 3 pairs I still own for 7 years, and I personally love how they fit my foot. I think it totally depends on your foot, as do most shoes, (so beware of blasting ratings—-It could be the wrong shoe for their foot!). I have them reconditioned and polished professionally many times and the leather holds up fabulously. I have bought them in my normal size and half size for the summertime, because my feet seem to swell a bit in 100 degree summers of Texas. I swear these are by far my favorite shoes. Age 60, high arch, and I take good care of my shoes. I never travel without a pair because they are comfort shoes!

This is a well-made ready wear shoe, that fits well (true to size) out of the box and is still holding up after 2 year of use.

I have worn Frye flats, sandals and boots for years. I can count on them to wear well and last for more than one season. Love this blue suede color! A great addition to my shoe wardrobe. Thanks Zappo's!

I've had these for almost 2 years now. They are my go to flats for work or leisure, they have been THE most comfortable right out of the box flats I've ever worn. I have a high arch, kinda wide front and these have molded wonderfully to my feet.

This is my 3rd pair of these flats. They are my go to office shoe! Professional looking, comfortable (after a short break in period), and so easy. Just slip them on, they match almost everything. The toe coverage is perfect. There's no silly bow or elastic. If you can afford them, I recommend 100%! I wear them to the office everyday for 12 hour work days and they usually last about a year before I've worn holes through the bottom of my shoe. If I was more conscientious, I could probably get them resoled before this happens. As I wear them without socks, I'll probably stick to buying new ones instead.
