I love these shoes, they were comfortable right out of the box and have been my favorite go to shoe ever since. They run true to size but are a bit wide in the heel which doesn't bother me really. Great shoe with a bit more style than average but subtle not too flashy for a 56 year old, nice quality. I am considering the red ones now.

I love the look of these shoes. I usually wear an 8 but I also ordered the 7 1/2 . The 8 was too big. I've had them for a few months now and have not worn them very much because they hurt in the arch of my right foot. The left is fine! It seems like the right shoe is buckled at the arch. I guess I'll contact zappos first and then the manufacturer. I think the right shoe is defective. Ouch, I've been wearing them 3 hours today and right arch hurts so badly.

A fine looking shoe. Helps achieve a sophisticated look with slacks. I'm a regular 8.5 and wear these with thin socks. Comfy for walking.

These shoes are really comfortable and stylish. The leather is stiff at first, but softens after wearing just a couple of times. The only thing I struggled with was sizing. I usually take a size 8 in boots (sometimes a 7½) so I sized down to 7½ on these. Like I said, they are tight at first, especially in the width, so I thought the 7½ would fit me, but after walking in them for a day, the width stretched a bit and then I realized that they were too big and loose and were not going to work. I love the style, though, so I decided to sell the 7½ on eBay and buy the size 7. The 7 fits well - but that is a full size smaller than my normal size for boots. In any case, my advice is pay close attention to the sizing of the length, since that is not going to change. The width, however, will stretch for your feet, so they should feel kind of tight in the width at first. I will also say that this style is very narrow. I have fairly narrow feet, so it works for me; not sure about folks with wider feet.

Beautiful shoe that feels so nice to pick up, but very painful on the foot! My forefoot is slightly wide but not wide enough for wide shoes. My normal size in this style pinched my little toe so much I couldn't keep it on for very long. Not much padding to speak of either.

This Frye oxford is a beautifully made shoe and worth the money. I have a pair of Frye Carson mules that I have worn to death on my problem feet, almost daily use probably eight months out of the year for the past three years. Once they broke in they were my favorite shoe. Those are no longer available in my color. So, I ordered these in the same size, hoping they are made on the same last. The shoes were lovely but I found them too tight. I ordered half a size up and they fit perfectly but cosmetically the pair did not match very well. Like one was antiqued and the other was not. Sending them back for another pair the same size and color hoping they match better. Beautiful shoe well made minus the color match issue. I hate to send these back but it is hard to justify the expenditure if they aren't the same color. Speaking of which, Antiqued cement is really a light to medium taupe color and not quite grey as the name implies. I feel badly that I have to return so many shoes in general to find a good fit to my surgically altered feet. (Foot pain is so much worse after I had them "fixed," one of the biggest regrets of my life!). Working, running around on my feet all day to add to the irritation! Anyway Zappos has the best customer service and they keep putting up with my high return rate after years of shopping here so far with no complaints. I really appreciate this and recommend Zappos to everyone when the subject of shoe shopping comes up! Thank you, Zappos team!

I got these last year in the dark brown shade called "Smoke," which despite it's name is not gray at all. I have picky feet and was pleased that I could wear them comfortably. I like the bit of a heel, which makes them a little different from other oxfords. I ordered the "Iris" this year, hoping it was a dark purple shade. It's really a blue, with maybe the faintest hint of purple undertones. I thought it looked essentially navy in most light, so I returned it. I do wish Frye would consider the slipperiness of the soles of their shoes and boots. These are extremely slick until well scuffed up. I ordered my usual size 8s which fit fine.

I've been eyeing these shoes for a couple of years now, but was skeptical -- thinking they would be heavy and clunky. They are amazingly light weight and extremely comfortable. They have a low heel, but feel as comfortable as a flat heel. I'm really glad I purchased these.

I really wanted these to fit. They're hit the mark right between masculine practicality and slim feminine styling. They just do not fit my feet. I ordered a half size larger to try to fit the width of my foot (admittedly I have wide feet) but these are pretty narrow in general. I'd be surprised if non-wide feet would fit comfortably. Also, weirdly the ankle was then too wide and slipped up and down. I'm so disappointed because they are really lovely. Zappos service was awesome as usual.

Great, comfortable shoes. I have received many compliments on these and I feel that the leather will get better the more I break them in. I like wearing them with short skirts and they are great for work. But, they are a bit skinny, but I can feel them stretching already.

I bought my first pair of Frye boots 40 years ago and have always known about their quality and comfort. I was almost hoping the Carson Oxford would not work for me because of the price. But, even with my tired, bunioned feet, I could wear these right out of the box. I mean it! I may have to get another color. My only negative - which is not really the shoe's fault - is that they do make my size 8.5 feet look a little longer than other shoes. I will live with that because I love them so much.

Sharp looking shoes that look great with everything. All Fryes seem to run a 1/2 size large on me. Check for defects carefully. Had to order twice because leather was 1/2in shorter on the heel part of the shoe. Of course Zappos is great with returns!

Very nice shoes. Liked the lace up and the boot heel. Very narrow for Frye (I am a B or medium width) and the toe box is quite tight. Would have tried to break them in but they made my legs look disproportionately fat. Sadly, I had to send them back. Farewell cute shoes.

These shoes are absolutely beautiful! The size 6 was too long in the toebox, and I could slip a finger into the heel end. I ordered the 5.5 and they feel a bit tight. I'm hoping they stretch a bit, as some other reviewers have indicated.

I have these shoes in Smoke and wanted to get another pair. These are pretty, a little larger than my others but same size, the reason I am returning is they are very squeaky, which was a surprise. This is a good looking shoe, will try again, perhaps a different color and not squeaky.

These shoes were extremely cute, however not exactly what I want. I will (hopefully, if they ever have my size) get them in brown so they will be more versatile for my wardrobe. The color is really neat, but I can't justify spending that much on shoes that aren't PERFECT for me. Oh, and I usually wear an 8.5, but I sized down to an 8 and they fit nicely on my narrow feet.

Best shoe ever! So stylish and comfortable. I have two pairs and just love them both. They do take a little breaking in - one gave me blisters the first time, so I only wore the second pair for about an hour a day for the first two weeks, then increased the time a little each day. After that I had no more problems. The black works with both jeans and business slacks. They are a bit on the pricey side - but worth the investment. They are very well made, very comfortable, and look like they will last a long time.

My first Fryes. Love the look, wear them as often as possible. NO padding, however, so not the best for lots of walking. Only complaint is the heel is actually wrapped in a leather-type covering that has started to peel on one of the shoes. Not a huge problem, but a tad annoying to have to fix pricey shoes.

So comfortable straight out of the box. I didn't want to take them off. I usually wear a 7 1/2 but after reading comments that they run a little large I opted for a 7 and they fit perfectly. My DH usually doesn't like my choice in shoes but he loves these. They look better on than in the picture.

They are cute but the inserts came unglued right away. I thought about taking them to a shoe store and have them glued but they cost too much to have to do that.

This is an old-school style shoe, down to the leather sole and how the heel is made. The materials are good quality and the workmanship is excellent. Being old-school, that means that the leather soles are slippery at first, but I expect this to improve with wear. When I tried them on, they felt narrow, but as the day has worn on the leather is stretching out nicely. I fully expect it to be pretty well conformed to my feet after a short time, so the narrowness at first should not present a problem for an average width foot. If you have extra-wide feet, this shoe will likely be quite uncomfortable until the leather breaks in. The second thing was when I first put on these shoes and walked around, they slid on my heels, but I laced them up snugly, and as the day has gone on, they are not rubbing and I don't notice any problems - and I'm very picky about this sort of thing. Although I have short toes, the shoe is longer in the toe than most, so it might seem they are too big. Looking at where my arch and ball of my foot sits in the shoe, I believe these are true to size, and that this length is just the style; if I had a smaller size, I'd probably be cramming my toes in and it would be uncomfortable.

Lovely, comfortable shoes from Frye's. Ordered my normal size 8, and they fit perfectly out of the box. Sole is a bit slippery, I would recommend getting some grips.

Disappointed: I really really wanted these shoes in Iris color. How great would they be w/ jeans?! The color is beautiful! The shoe, not so much. 1st the toe is very long beyond my foot in my usual Frye size 9, the rest of the shoe fits great. It's like when pointy-toed shoes are elongated, but these aren't pointy. So they make my feet look WAY too big. Which is disappointing because one of the things I love about Frye is that they usually make my feet look smaller (Vera Short, Jenna Studded, Sabrina Lace-up, Lois Oxford). Not these. Also toe caps have reinforcement, that stops at a really bad place: it's obvious, you can see it, and I know from experience it'll give me blisters when my foot bends from walking. That kind of reinforcement is something I associate w/ cheap shoes, not Frye! Returning. So sad.

I love these shoes! I have both brown and black...so comfortable right out of the box. They run a little on the small side, but I just wear a bit thicker socks with them.

A word of caution regarding refund-ability of these shoes: I could not wait wear these when they arrived. For me with lousy feet, they surprisingly fit out of the box. But since my feet have a way of complaining within a short period of time, I was careful to wear them ONLY in my home so, if they should start to feel uncomfortable, I could send them back to Zappos for a refund. After wearing these cute oxfords for most of the first day indoors, I did check on the soles and was surprised (and disappointed) to see that the soles were not made of a solid color material. Instead, the soles looked like they just had a stain applied to them to give them a color because they certainly showed that they had been worn even though it was indoors. Our home is not completely carpeted; there is tile and hardwood floors as well as linoleum.AT this point, I could not have sent them back, even if I needed to. My word of caution: if you are "iffy" about how your feet will feel in these shoes, wear them ONLY ON CARPETED SURFACES until you know for sure that your feet can tolerate them. Other than this, they are cute shoes that, years ago, I would have disliked because they would have reminded me of "nun" shoes. Today with the funky/nerdy styles that are en vogue, these oxford heels are trendy. Yes, they were stiff to wear at first, but I feel confident that with more wearing, they will soon be my most comfortable pair. Others who advised to buy a half size smaller were right. I normally wear a 7.5, so I bought the 7 and it fit fine. Frye shoes are not cheap, but they are made in Mexico which might account for the cost-cutting use of stain on the soles not solid color leather. That was disappointing for me.
