I have these boots in a beautiful dark red. I was in NY at the Arche store, and ordered the last pair available in red from an LA store. That's how much I knew I wanted them. The leather is buttery soft and the sole/heel are super cushiony. They what you love about a thing is also what you don't and that is the case here. If I look at this booty cross-eyed the leather tears. I have had the toe and sides of this boot glue and 're-colored' at least 5 times having only worn them 10 times. I NEVER take them to NY anymore, where the trashing is instant. As much as I love them, they are virtually unwearable due to the delicacy of the goat (?) skin. I wasted A LOT of money. I have 4 other pair of Arche in various styles and colors but all nubuck. Never again in that buttery leather.

Here's the thing. I bought this shoe in a beautiful dark red color to wear walking around New York City all day. Fabulously comfortable but the leather is so soft, like butter, that the booties looked beaten to a pulp two weeks later. Too fragile for reality.

Be warned! I bought these boots several years ago, and have been extremely disappointed. They were meant to replace a similar pair I'd bought nearly 25 years ago, and had worn out. This pair: leather very easy to scruff (not true of old boots, which were not pebbled leather); zipper needs mending already. I doubt I'll throw good money after bad to have them mended; I'll probably just try Naot, which a friend highly recommends. I would advise extreme care; I feel cheated -- the quality I associate with Arche, which I've bought and worn for many years, just isn't there. Perhaps I have a lemon pair. But at this price, still...!

Very comfortable, simple boot. Just supple leather that conforms to your foot and a lightweight sole.

These (in black) were my introduction into the Arche line of shoes/boots. Now I have a few pairs of the brand because they are an investment worth making, and are so durable and comfortable. I wore these so many times this past winter and still have much wear yet available. My two favorite things about Arche shoes are the soles - they are both comforable/supportive yet durable, and have really soft leather that conforms to your feet. A few wears and the leather really matches your foot shape and then it's like putting heaven on your feet before you leave the house each day. My trial run with these boots was a 10-day trip to Europe with so much walking - I took these and a tall pair of Arche boots - and I was all set. Dress up, dress down.

This is a beautiful bootie. The style is simple and classic. Leather is supple and lovely. It conforms to the foot immediately. Extremely comfortable. It took four attempts before discovering these, but grateful that I persevered.

I bought and am returning a gray pair that is on sale. The color is called Nabuco. If your feet aren't particularly wide or you don't have bunions, BUY these shoes immediately. Let me explain. I already have 2 pairs of Arche Baryky's which I love. Arche seems to have different kinds of leather or at least different thicknesses of it, even within its collection of one style of shoe. So one of my old pairs is a very thin leather. It stretched and it also scuffed, as some people have said. But I still love it and get compliments often despite the scuffs. It's a deep red. The other is red suede or nubuck---whatever it is--and it's a bit thicker and tighter, taking time to fit comfortably. It's nice to run around in these shoes because they grip well. SO, the pair that I'm returning today is made of a thicker leather. That's ideal. But not for me with wide toes and bunions. This kind of Arche leather never stretches. I have experience with a different style of Arche boots (bought directly from the Arche French website). Wonderful boots on sale, but even a shoemaker couldn't stretch them to fit me. I know it'll be the same with these great Baryky shoes, so with regret, I've got to send them back. By the way, only buy Baryky's with the black soles. The other type of soles are less supportive.

Love these booties. 2nd pair. The nubuck color looks tan, but it’s actually taupe. I liked it and will keep them. These are amazing boots. Most comfortable shoe I ever owned. I have had my other pair For two years. I look forward to many more years of wear on them. Some folks have said the don’t hold up well. Not so In my experience.

These boots are as soft and comfortable as they look. As with all Arche shoes and boots they are ready to wear right out of the box. No break-in time required. And they are comfortable all day long. They are fitted closely at the ankle (not tightly) so that narrow pants fall correctly, not bunched up as they would with, say, tabs at the backs of some running shoes. Neat appearance, and no annoying seams. Suitable for work and play. Expensive, but worth it.

I love the look of these shoes. They have been immediately very comfortable, no break in required. My only reservation is that, since they are so soft, they run a little large. I am usually a size 6 and ordered the 37. I think a 36 would be a better fit.

I purchased these because I am suffering from plantar fasciitis in one foot, and wearing flat shoes with cushioned soles helps. The leather is not particularly thin but still very soft and supple. It is deer skin, not calfskin or cowhide, which may explain why other reviewers complain about its resistance to scuffs. The bootie fits like a glove and is extremely comfortable. I wear US 9 or European 39.5 or 40.

Be warned. When I bought these I gave them a rave. I still love them. But in no way do they compare with the Arche black leather booties I bought over 20 years ago and literally wore out. I suppose I'm hard on shoes -- but the leather is also easily scuffed at the toe. I've decided to wear these in a spirit of abandon: if they scuff more, they scuff more. But they won't last twenty years. Somewhat disappointing at such a high price point.

BUYER BEWARE! These boots do NOT stand the test of time. I've had to repair the zipper 2 times in the last year plus the seaming along the zipper has come undone. The supple pliant leather coupled with the back zipper is a constructional nightmare. I don't wear these shoes on a regular basis and am quite shocked that not more customers have had a similar experience. I am so disappointed especially given the hefty price tag.

Arche boots are the most comfortable boots made. This is my 4th pair and I love them all.

Wonderful boots. I wear a size 9M in flats, ordered size 9M in the boots. The fit was perfect. Super comfortable. Very well made. Great look. Very, very happy with purchase.

Comfort in a gorgeous shade of deep red. The bootie fits true to size and is quite stylish. These are my third pair over the last several years. The other two were black but when I saw the red I had to have them. They hold up well and go with everything so I wear them every day. They may be considered pricey but it’s my feet and they feel and look great! I wouldn’t hesitate to buy them again in another color. Next year...they’re my favorite shoes!

Most comfortable boot I’ve ever owned! I don’t usually spend that much on shoes, but these are worth every penny! I want to order another pair in one of the other colors. You won’t be disappointed buying these boots!!

Arche makes the coolest and most comfortable shoes and boots anywhere. They've gotten really expensive imported to the U.S., so it's almost worth flying to France to stock up on a few pairs.no kidding.

I bought this boot because I was going to Europe for 16 days and the reviews said the leather was super soft. I have problem feet. They get very hot and sweat which creates blisters on my toes and the bottom of my feet. I always prep my feet with foot powder and the best absorbent socks and only wear soft leather shoes but I STILL get blisters. I put these boots on and it felt like putting your feet into a soft leather glove. I wear a 6-1/2 but I bought a size 37 which is a 6. I have average width to narrow feet and the boot was not tight but snug with an average weight sock. When you walk, you can feel bumps in the pavement and there’s absolutely no arch support. I put in a Dr Scholl’s arch support with a gel heal. Should I have had to do this with a $400 boot? No. But I don’t care. The boot was so soft I wore it nearly every day. You could not tell thee zipper was even there in the back. The heel was very comfy. Some People (not me) may even be able to wear these without socks. The style is plain but when you have feet like mine you don’t care about style as much. I’m a very young 50 and I made these boots look cute by wearing with black leggings or jeans rolled up an inch or so to show off the height of the boot. I WILL by this brand again. I’ve never owned deer skinned shoes but I’m sold. $400 is a lot of money but I’d rather have a couple boots that are scrumptious to wear than a half dozen that are cheaper but constantly hurt my feet. I hope next year they make a super soft boot like this with a little bit more design (unless it takes away from the comfort). I’m sold on this brand. I’m going to see if they have sandals for summer.

A beautiful super soft boot.

I love these boots but have to give them up. I am a 91/2 and Arche does not make half sizes. I tried very hard to fit into the 9's but they simply were too short. Size 10 is just a bit too large. If the boot fits, you will love it. Wonderful leather and a great style.

i love these shoes. I bought them in Paris when my Paul Green shoes failed me in the comfort department, and my dogs were barking. I wore them all day long, very comfortable, great for touring and sightseeing.no support, but like wearing a sock with a nice bouncy rubber sole.

This is my perfect shoe. It fits like a glove and is soft and forms to the foot. It is so comfortable. I recommend this shoe if you are wanting total comfort.

Recommend going smaller if you are a half size. Only had them a little over a month so I can't comment on longevity, but I would say these are shoes for every generation. Beyond comfortable. Feet conform to the shoe. Like barefoot but better.

this review is for the gray version of this boot which ran a little small and was not the soft, supple leather in the black (which I would give 5 stars across the board).
