Amazingly comfortable. Wide shaft opening is perfect. Would highly recommend these. Ordered 9 wide and they fit perfectly.

I love these boots. I ended up ordering several pairs of boots from Zappos before I finally found the “right” pair. I normally don't wear a wide but I found in the Fitzwells it was more comfortable to order the wide (they run a bit narrow). Also, the extra wide calf fits me with room to spare - I had a really, really hard time finding a wide enough calf. The leather is soft and a gorgeous dark brown color - could go with black or brown.

These boots fit my calf perfectly but they are a bit tight/snug in the foot area. I would probably order a wide. I will be returning mine to exchange for a wide. I normally wear a 7.5 regular shoe/boot. But these were just way to tight in the shoe area.

I wish that I could have kept these. They were so comfortable for my wide feet. My guess is that if I were a couple inches taller this pair of boots would have been a keeper. I am 5'4" with 16½" calves and they fit over my thighs, but then they were too big at the top for me. If they had been a little shorter in the shaft they would have been perfect. Alas, my search continues...

The calf was actually too big! I almost fainted. I kept them anyway. It is so difficult for me to find boots. My calf measures 17 1/2 inches but even some boots that say the should fit, don't. These gave me room to spare. So don't order up.

Great, soft leather material...fits my large calf. Almost a little too wide at the top of the shaft! Many compliments on these when worn to work.

Finally a boot that fits my calves. Love them! I have 17 1/2" calves, they are wide at the top, but I could actually tuck pants or wear warm socks with them. I got so many compliments on them. They are great!

These boots look great. I needed to put an insole in because they ran a little large for me. Also, "extra wide calf" is an understatement. My calf is really large, and these are big even for me. I will be able to tuck my jeans in easily.

Nice quality leather, but too plain for my liking and these were actually too wide for my 17.5 inch calves...I was swimming in them!

First, Zappos Rocks! They are the only online store I will purchase shoes from. Customer service can not be beat! I purchased these boots last year and I really wanted to love them, but the more I wore them the less I did. The leather is just okay, but for the cost. I guess I should have expected that. Yes they fit (kind of) but the look of the boot is a bit too out of date- not classic like I had hoped. I don't have a wide (size 7) foot but the toe box in this boot is a bit tight and there is very little cushioning. I have a 16.75" calf circumference. These are better for at least a 17.5 as stated. Otherwise they will look too big. They are meant to be slim fitted. They have to start making stylish classic quality leather boots for the "muscular calf" woman! At an affordable price! Still hunting. :(

Very okay. The leather has a cheap sort of look and feel. Not terrible, but not my favorite thing by any means.

After having my baby my Frye boots did not fit my calves. I wanted a "basic" boot with a wider calf. I wish I would have tried a different one. I am not familiar with Fitzwell, but will not try them again. It's not that I expected Frye quality, however, I did expect a little more for the price. They are ill fitting and the foot ran narrow. They aren't that attractive in person either. The one plus is that they do have plenty of room in the calf.

The workmanship isn't what it should be. I tried two pairs and both had a visibly lumpy back seam on one or both boots--it was so bad, my BF noticed from across the room. The lining was too small for the outer part, making a half-inch, protruding pucker. If you happen to get a well-made pair, they'll fit great. At size 10, my 18-inch calves had plenty of room, even with leggings. I think even skinny jeans might have fit inside, if the fabric weren't too thick. The toe felt a tiny bit narrow, but leather can be stretched. The only other issue is that, while the sole under the toe has a good grip, the sole under the heel is slick. I'm sure there's something you could glue on for better traction.
