I live in New York City and I travel to and from work on the subway everyday. I'm 5'4", I carry a 13" MacBook, the power brick, a 27oz kleen kanteen, a book, some files, a hoodie and a pen pouch. I have lower back problems and so a bag that was comfortable, light, and allowed me to have good posture with it on was very important to me. Before this I was using a men's North Face Surge that was too long for my torso, so it sat on the curve of my bum (irritating my back problem) and so the shoulder straps sat too high and were too wide making them constantly rub against my neck and cut into my arms. It had three zippered pockets and tons of organization so when I carried all of my items I felt like a giant nerd leaning forward with a huge puffy rock on my back. No bueno. This Osprey on the other hand is the perfect length for my short torso, it hugs to the curve of my back so when I'm standing on the subway my bag is still flat against me. It holds the same items as the the other bag but is so much lighter and it has a much smaller profile. The flap feature makes the bag flat like a messenger. If I'm lucky enough to get a seat, my bag sits flat in my lap and I can read on it (versus a big bulky round backpack). The side zipper pocket is big enough to fit my 27oz bottle so now I never have to worry about it sliding out of a mesh pocket. I love the drawstring feature and prefer it to zippers. I leave my backpack on my desk at work, so this feels open and accessible and I'm not grazing my hands in and out of multiple zippered pouches. It doesn't have excessive organization pockets, which is perfect - I never use those crazy single pen pockets and tiny mesh pouches for erasers. I generally don't use the lumbar straps because of the look, but I tried this and for once, this tiny strap made a huge difference in how the weight felt. It felt like I wasn't carrying anything at all! I can stand up perfectly straight while wearing this pack - I love that. Also, the top handle is in a good place, it doesn't touch your neck (Burton backpacks do it and drives me crazy), and it's also low profile. The bag is easy to just grab and go, it's bigger on the inside, it's 900D polyester so it's waterproof, the bag is just perfect, I can't sing it's praises enough, I'm so excited to have it! It's the best backpack I've ever worn. I also have to talk about Zappos Customer Service. I got my bag but then changed my mind about the color. I called customer service and spoke to Ally. She was great! We chatted about backpacking for a bit and then she (Zappos) let me exchange the bag, sent me the color I wanted with free next day shipping and then all I had to do was return the first one. The customer service was phenomenal. I'm so happy with my bag, I'm so happy with the company, this experience has been great and now I have something that is really healthy for my back, efficient for my daily life, and still makes me feel like a girl. Thank you Osprey and Zappos!

This is a great backpack, exactly what I expected. There is plenty of padding for your laptop, pocket is off the bottom by about an inch for extra protection. There is not a ton of room for stuff other than the laptop - enough for a book and lunch maybe. Several pockets for small stuff, one on the side. My only minigripe is that I wish it would have velcro under the flap, so I could just close it without bucking, like Timbuk2 does.

I've had this backpack for about three weeks, and am really enjoying it. Pros, finally a pack that has straps that fit the width of female shoulders. I ordered 10 backpacks, and this was by far the best fit. I knew it wouldn't be the most lightweight pack--it's a little heavier than, say, a basic Jansport with no special features, but not a big deal at all. Especially given the comfortable ribs on the back. The built-in laptop sleeve means I don't need my other laptop case. Also, the chest and waist strap are just right for tightening the pack for my uphill 4 mile bike ride back from work. Cons, I wish that it came in other colors. I do think this pack is beautifully designed, but I love the orange color in the equivalent man's FlapJack pack, and wish that female products didn't necessarily entail flowers and light colors. (I know, there is the charcoal one, but I wanted some color.) Also, the long side pocket just barely fits my tall skinny water bottle OR an umbrella, but nothing else. It could be either a little larger or designed into a different shape. As others mention, the internal pocket is pretty deep and some might prefer more pocket and space divisions besides the two other small front pockets (which fit my pens, wallet, etc. very well). However, I've been enjoying the medium volume of this pack as a good reminder that I don't need to haul my entire desk to and from campus most days, which is also saving my back some stress. All in all, I highly recommend this pack!

I love the looks of this bag, the padded interior, the interchangeable colors of straps. What I don't like is the drawstring top and it's narrow opening. I'm used to bags that zip up the sides to the top allowing you to remove/add items easier with a larger opening. This top is very narrow which makes it difficult to get things out of.

This is hands down the most comfortable backpack I've ever owned. I decided to invest in a good backpack after buying a bike for recreational riding and seeing an increase in the amount of commuting I was doing with my work laptop. The work computer is a clunky 15" and is difficult to fit due to an extended life battery sticking out the back, but it fits beautifully in the laptop compartment of this backpack. The straps are nicely padded and fit my lady-size shoulders well. The hefty weight of my laptop (and it's brick of a power supply, and my coffee thermos, and my water bottle, and an extra book for the long commute, and my kitchen sink. . .) is distributed evenly across my shoulders and centers nicely somewhere up around my shoulder blades. I find it has enough space for everything I take on my commute to the suburbs and also for a weekend bike ride around the city when I don't want to be tied to a purse. And to top it all off, it's pretty. Teal Blue is much more of a Teal green when you see it in person, but it's gorgeous either way.

This is an awesome pack. I am currently using it for a diaper bag. I'm not really into the cheesy diaper bags on the market. Plus it is easier to carry a backpack and a child than a handle bag. This has just enough compartments and loop holes to clip on pacifiers and other accessories. Plus my child is super cool for having an Osprey diaper bag. I love this pack!

I have cerebral palsy, and prefer to use my crutches over my wheelchair when I can. I needed an everyday pack that was comfortable and wouldn't jostle around while I walked or cause me back strain. This FlapJill pack does just that. I love the modern look and ability to change out the webbing is a fun option. I will definitely be buying from Zappos and Osprey again.

Osprey FlapJill Pack: I've had this backpack for six months now. Going back to grad school, I really didn't want to buy a book bag, but after lugging too many heavy textbooks to class, I succumbed. I had seen Osprey products and had always been impressed by their sturdiness, function and style, so it was a no brainer to buy this one. Definitely pricier than most, but I also use it for day hikes, so it is multi-functional. Overall, well pleased with the bag. Sturdy, comfortable straps which were a must since I walk to school. I also like the separate padded compartment where I put my laptop. Being able to change the straps is kind of fun. Quite roomy. And, I get a lot of compliments on the pack from my younger (and much cooler) classmates. Two complaints though: I would have loved a side mesh pocket to hold my water canteen. Admittedly, it would have ruined the streamlined design, but I really miss that feature. 2) While I love the flap design, the drawstring cord to close the interior can be irksome. While day hiking this is actually a good feature (nothing will fall out), but for school, I find getting folders/binders in or out of the bag to be tedious especially when I am carrying a full pack. Otherwise, though, it is a great bag.

I love the look, the way it fits (I'm only 5 ft tall and have had to previously use children's packs to get a good fit) but . . . I'm disappointed in the fact that apparently they have changed it since this video description was made. It does NOT have a drawstring closure (which I really wanted) so it just flaps over and clips. Also, both my pockets under the flap are zippered, not one Velcro and the other zippered. The pockets are probably better that way but I really don't like it being open all the time with no other way to close it. Water can easily get into it this way. So I'm bummed. I threw the box out in my excitement to get it so not sure if I want to return it or not. I got it so my stuff would be protected in rainstorms. It's so cute (I got the plum color. Just be aware that a change to the pack was made and it should be reflected in the description please. That drawstring closure addition was a BIG reason I bought it. Zappos is great had it delivered before a big rainstorm tomorrow, but not sure how well this will work. :-( Hoping for the best planning for the worst (carrying a BIG umbrella)

I've been using this backpack almost daily for close to a year and a half and it is holding up beautifully. I purchased it for my commute and I love it. It fits a 17" laptop with no problems along with just about everything else I could need during the day. I'm fairly petite and I have no problems wearing this even when completely loaded. It has also become my go-to carry-on and overnight bag. Highly recommended!

I've been using this for a month now, and I really love it. The straps are super comfortable, and the various pockets help with organizing. The padded pocket is perfect for carrying my iPad and my Kindle. I'm slightly baffled by a zip side pocket that's too small to fit my umbrella and isn't the right shape for anything else I can think of...but I'm an urban backpacker, and it would doubtless fit some hiking accoutrement perfectly. I use it to carry my empty coffee mug home from work every night. This is the first Osprey product I've owned, and I am deeply tempted to buy the matching messenger bag.

Very comfortably fits my computer and all my other needs for the day as I bike commute to work. It also fits all the things my family of four needs like a light lunch when we go on shorter day hikes. Plenty of pockets and spaces for all my needs. Video about product on their site was helpful too.

A cool, sleek design, but beware of the grey! In the pictures it appears as more of a white, light grey, yet in person it was disappointingly a drab, muted grey... and same with the green straps! It surprises me that osprey would even release it in these unfortunate colors. Definitely going back. But the design is very clever and appealing.

I've been using this pack for about 8 months now. It's fantastic. Currently I can fit my 13" MacBook Pro quite nicely in the laptop section, this section will likely fit a 15" MacBook as well as it's quite roomy. The way it sits on your body is very comfortable, and the straps are easily adjusted. There is a nice tubular side pocket that is nicely hidden and hardly noticeable; I use that to stash a small umbrella. This is quite a streamlined pack, it doesn't protrude out from the body too much at all, so you're not going to be able to take a ton of stuff, but I think that's the point. I've also been running with this pack (with my laptop in it) and it has proven sturdy and comfortable (given the load that's in it). Five stars, great pack!

Attractive, high quality bag; just be aware, if you plan to stuff it with books and need it to open widely to put things in and out, you might be disappointed. The shape is streamlined which will make it flatter and less clunky for sure, but because it kind of telescopes a little on the bottom, it just doesn't expand for the books I need to carry. Would be perfect if you mainly carry a laptop and personal items plus maybe a couple of notebooks. Very pretty as well with great smaller pockets.

Great backpack! I was carrying my laptop and work things in a shoulder bag that was killing my back. With this backpack, the same load feels much more comfortable. I'm 5'3" and about 115 lbs and this is the perfect size for me. It's cute too and I've gotten quite a few compliments.

Bought this as a gift for my granddaughter who is a senior in HS, planning to attend college. We were very happy with the quality and usefulness of the bag. It is very well made, well designed, and even included a safety whistle! Who knew?

I got this to replace my purse as I often walk to work, and need to tote an iPad and my lunch. It's a nice size - not huge but plenty of room for what I need to carry plus a jacket or shoes. It could easily hold a small laptop. Very comfortable and plenty of little pockets for necessities. It'll be very comfortable for hiking as well.

Great little pack. Used it as a carry on and a out and about diaper bag. Nice size, good pockets. Lack of water bottle holder on outside is a bit of a pain, would be more so on the trail. Nice styling, good buy.

This is a fantastic backpack! I love that it is super functional, yet stylish and not your typical-looking backpack. It has plenty of pockets, and I like that the water bottle holder pocket zips all the way up. It also has a hidden pocket inside the large pocket on the inner right-hand side which is cool too. I replaced my old North Face backpack with this one, and I'm glad that I did. It is constructed really well and has plenty of room for storage without being too bulky. I would definitely recommend this backpack to anyone!

Comfortable, the sternum and waist strap make it easier to carry. It does not weigh down in the shoulders as much as other packs. I thought it did not have a place for a water bottle but on one of the sides there is a place to put either a water bottle or an umbrella. The colors are fun and I get a lot of compliments from my younger work colleagues!

Have tried a couple of other backpacks, but think that I finally found that I was looking for. I use this bag for work and have to walk 20 min from the train. Most bags have been too long for me (I'm 5'5) and hitting at the small of my back. This is very light and short but fits my laptop, a few folders or books and a bottle of water.
