First of all, the boots: These boots ROCK man! This is my second pair. My first pair lasted me 3 years of heavy, every day wear and tear. I am a full time commercial electrician living in the soggy Seattle area. Even after 3 years, they are still waterproof (With regular care and maintenance). I am keeping my old pair for kicking around the garage at home. Now then on to Zappos. This was my first time ordering from them, You never know with all the online goof balls out there, but Zappos got the boots here quickly, they were brand spanking new with no issues at all. Haven't tried their returns process though and am banking I won't have to. Go for it, the boots and Zappos.

I put these to the real test this weekend. I went bird hunting in 6-8 inches of snow, with temps below 5 degrees F. So very cold, lots of snow, and not so many birds. Anyway, my feet were dry, warm and the leather still looks great. They held up very well. We hunted about 5 hours in snow and sub-freezing temps and these boots were comfortable, warm and dry. What more can I say? I'm 100% satisfied.

I have been very pleased with these boots. I work outside in a cold climate and these boots have kept me warm and dry. I was also pleased with this website and received my order quicker than I expected.

Excellent boot /excellent store - I am in the construction and asphalt business. I have never found a boot to last while working with asphalt the way this boot has. The boot was well worth the money. I wear this boot 7 days a week and probably 14 hours a day because it is so comfortable and durable. Zappos was great to work with and I love the fact of the free overnight shipping that was great! Thank You Zappos for your service and for carrying such a great product!

Happy customer - Just bought the boots have not had them long. Happy with them so far, very comfortable from the get go. I wear an 8 1/2 in everything else had to go to a 9 in this boot. I've only had them for a day or so. I have not had them in the field yet; will write another review after this chuckar season after I put them to a real test in some tough Nevada terrain. First pair of boots I have bought from Zappos could not ask for a better company to deal with.

Great all-day field boot - I purchased these boots for both hunting and all day wear around the property. They are comfortable, warm and waterproof. What more can you ask? The inner soles form fit quickly for a custom feel. The outer soles are light, but thick enough to deal with stone and mud. Great boot!

These boots are awesome! Had ordered the African boots and they were very soft and comfortable but they had cross-stitching all over the boot and I decided to exchange them for the irishsetter boot. These boots are soft as baby's butt! They are true to size and width and they are waterproof, best money I have spent for comfort and wear. The other thing is I ordered in the morning and they were here next day before noon, good job Zappos's!

I live in my boots. I ride...a lot. After wearing heavy steel toe boots for most of my adult life I got talked into these. Light weight, true to size fit. I put a Red Wing orthotic in them. Excellent boot.

These boots are worth the money. They are very comfortable and had a very short break-in time. I'm on my feet 8-12 hours a day and these boots are the best I've owned. I ordered a 10.5 but they were too big so I called Zappos and they had my replacement (size 10) there the next day. Zappos is the best.

I bought these boots based on two factors: 1) most of the reviews were positive and spoke highly of their durability and 2) their looks/aesthetics. Even though I've worn boots before, this was my first time purchasing a "real" pair because what I wore in the past were more along the lines of boot-styled sneakers. Until now, I'd been unaware of concepts such as a "breaking-in period" for leather boots -- and boy, did I need to try and break these in! The problem is basically that these boots run too small (and possibly a tad narrow -- although I suspect the feeling of narrowness is exacerbated by how I can't lay my feet down straight). When I tried them on at home upon receiving them, sure, they felt somewhat stiff, but I figured that was normal with such a heavy-duty boot (due to my inexperience). I also thought that "real boots" are supposed to not let your feet move around inside them. I made the grievous error of immediately wearing them to work, and it was at that point that I realized these boots were too small. Since I can't return them once they've been worn outdoors, I'm stuck with them. I tried stretching them with rubbing alcohol and multiple thick socks, and that helped some with the narrowness, but not the length. As of now, I intend to take them to be professionally stretched at a shoe-repair shop (if possible -- I've read that you're screwed if you've got the wrong size since stretching is more about increasing the comfort and "give" of a boot that is already the correct size). I'm disappointed with Irish Setter because my whole adult life I've worn size 10.5 and gone through numerous shoes -- what IS with someone calling their boot that size when it's really closer to a size 10 or 9.5? I will say, however, that I received more compliments than I ever have on my footwear with these -- people I know in real life spoke of how these boots "last forever." Those who are loyal to this brand really believe in it. Part of me wants to order another pair in the correct size, but given how expensive they are, and my bad experience, I'm looking at other brands. They do feel very solid, though. I have worn them in thick snow (partly to test their water-resistance) and they handled that with ease whereas many other shoes & boots would've proved unsuitable. And even though I haven't actually tried it, I feel like I could put them through just about anything and they'll survive it. They feel warm & comfortable too, or at least I feel they truly would (in case of the latter attribute) if they were the right size. Another subtle issue that's preventing me from ordering a size 11 is that the fit is a little funny to me -- it's as though my heels have room behind them, but the toe box is crushing my toes. Perhaps my feet aren't meant for these. We'll see.

Excellent work boots, I buy two pair and alternate so they dry inside between use and last much, much longer. Traction is a bit lacking for sloped roof work but we mostly do commercial solar so flat roofs are the norm. Waterproof = step in 4 inches of water and your foot stays dry.

Great boot! Quick to break in - 2-3 days. I use an additional insole to provide more shock absorption and back support. But they are great boots and pretty darn close to 100% waterproof. Remember to order extra wide if you like an extra insole or have wide feet at all.

The 894 boot is great, most iron workers use the 894 or 877, and their hard on equipment. But I can tell you, they do become a little slippery unlike the 877. But, what do you expect it's an upland game boot it's built for bird hunting. The first time I bought this boot the Red Wing dealer specifically told me the boot is not designed for welding and fabrication, but I didn't care. The boot is so comfortable, waterproof, and if you get the Thinsulate their warm. I used the 877 classics for years, but, in the winter your feet get cold The bottom line, get a boot for your work environment. Red Wings are great it's the only boot I buy.

This Boot was a beauty coming out of the box. Great color , nice leather, great look. When I put the boot on it was a little snug. So I figured I have to break them in a day a so. I’ve worn them three days and I can’t take it anymore. I’ve worn a 13 medium since 9th grade . This boot size is cut small and doesn’t fit to size. I love Zappos but I can’t send them back because I’ve worn them. I’m out of $171.00 . If you order these beautiful boots get them a size bigger.

These are very comfortable boots for walking and hiking on flat ground. These boots fail when it comes to hiking in uneven mountainous terrain. I use them for upland hunting and it looks like they will be reserved for the prairies. I can assume that as a work boot they would be great, but for serious hunting I would look for something with more support and rigidity in the sole.

The boot did not look anything like the pictures depicted, they are actually orange in color, and are much heavier and more cumbersome than I had anticipated. They also run at least one size big, and will definitely require a break in period prior to hunting in them, as they are extremely stiff. I am going to be returning them and buying a pair of Danners.
