I am pretty pleased with this shoe. I don't wear it all that often. I got it to have something warm and rugged for Winter weather, and living in the mid-Atlantic, the winter does not last all that long, so opportunities to wear it are limited. That said, it is still a good shoe. It does seem to be rugged; I walked around in the snow a good bit during the heavy snow storms we got, and despite the snow, wet, salt (and other snow/ice melting chemicals) the boots are none the worse for wear. I like the style and as long as I keep them clear they look good with khakis or cords and a collared shirt. The sole is exactly what I expected from Doc Martens (I have owned a pair previously). They do seem to run a bit large. I ordered an 11 and it is rather roomy; many of the other shoes in my collection are also 11. As it turns out, that worked out well--since I got this for the colder months, I tend to wear thick (or multiple) socks, so the extra room works out well. But if you are looking at these for everyday wear with normal socks, I might consider going down half a size, maybe a full size.

Wow, I love these boots. The leather is beautiful, and the construction is awesome. However, like most of the other women stated they are too big for me. I ordered the 9, and it felt more like a big 9-1/2 or 10. I have just reordered them a size smaller. Everything else is perfect. By the way, I don't make much money, and I'm not a 20 or even a 30 something, but I think these boots are worth the price and look great! The inside is cushioned and the sole will give me great traction this winter. This is my first pair of Dr Martens, but they won't be my last pair.

This is an update of my previous review. So Zappos replaced the defective pair but after 3 months I am having the same problem with the heel separating from the sole. Warning: I believe every pair will do this, and depending on how much you wear them, it is only a matter of time. Changing my review to 1 star. Poor quality from Doc's? Believe it! I'm returning them and getting a pair of Red Wings.

Like others, I also had the heel come unglued within a couple months of regular wear. I fixed it with some shoe goo. I shouldn't have had to do that, given the cost of the boot. That said, they are still one of my favorite pieces of footwear, and the shoe goo has solved the problem. The look and feel great. I have wide feet, and finding a well-fitting boot can be difficult--this one fits very well.

These boots are great! They have an awesome look and feel with great style. I wear a 10 in other Dr. Martens but needed an 11 for these.

After having the heels of the first pair of these flopping off the bottom of the boot while I walked around after about a month, I returned them for the same kind in hopes that it was a fluke. Well, the heels of the second pair are now coming unglued after 2 months. In the past, I had Doc Martens that lasted me 6 years. (I still have them in my closet - though fairly worn). That was until they started manufacturing in China. I even called Doc Marten's customer service before sending them back to Zappos, only to have a very rude customer service agent tell me that would not replace them, even though they are obviously defective. I almost definitely will not buy another pair of Docs again. Zappos customer service is excellent, though. I will be buying replacements for these from Zappos. They most certainly will not be Doc Martens, unless they get their act together and realize that their popularity was due to their quality, not just their brand name.

Great boots! Had a quality issue with the first pair I received (the tongue tore off!) but Zappos had a new pair out to me the next day. As always, epic customer service from the Zappos squad, and my new boots are fantastic.

I actually put in one review on these boots already, but I left something out. Although I had to send them back because they were too large, I loved these boots because the soles are perfect. It seems everything that Dr Martin's is putting out these days are Frankenstein boots. These were heavy duty without feeling massive. Also, I am a true 8 in women's, but I would have needed a 7 or 6. The fact is these boots need to be narrowed down across the widest part of the foot to be styled for a woman, and I have medium to wide feet. Other than the size and width, these boots are perfectly beautiful, and the leather is gorgeous and comfortable.

Very nice design and usage of the rough/shiny patches in the leather. I wear 10.5 mens U.S. and 11UK works well. None to little break in. So far, worth the cost.

I just ordered these boots in a size 12, as I wear a 12 in the 1460 Docs. These boots definitely run bigger as I had to get these in the US 11, which fit me perfect. I also have wide feet, and these are perfect! I bought these mainly for use when I ride my motorcycle (which is every day) and wanted something stylish yet functional. After debating over some Red Wings, or work boots, I decided on these. Super comfortable right from the get go. Doesn't have a super chunky sole like most other motorcycle/combat boots, which I like. I've owned my other pair of Docs for over 15 years, and still wear them! I expect to own these just as long!

I love these boots. Now. Unfortunately the weather in the Bay Area has been so hot lately that wearing boots has been out of the question. But I have been breaking these puppies in at home and getting them ready for the rain. If we get any. These have got to be some of the most handsome looking boots I've ever seen or purchased for that matter. Zappos is the best. Got these in about a day, next day I ordered the next size up to see which fit best. Got those in about one day. Returned the larger pair and all at no cost to me. What more could you ask for? That's why I keep coming back, that and the abundant variety and great prices. And free shipping. Both ways. Did I mention Zappos rocks?!

The 3rd time I wore them was on a 4 mile hike through rocks and desert. Granted, they got scuffed up, but that only adds to the vintage look. They are extremely comfortable, and keep my feet surprisingly cool (even in the desert). They are slightly big for my feet, I wish that a US 10.5 was available, but they are fine with thick socks. My size 11 Keens fit fine, so these are sized a little bigger.

I love these boots--the\'re the most comfortable pair of Martens I've ever owned. The leather is soft and flexible--no break-in period. And the soles aren't super thick like most other Martens you'll find, but that doesn't take away from the comfort. One feature of these boots that I REALLY appreciate is the loop on the tongue for your laces to pass through, to keep the tongue from slipping down to the side of your foot through the day--I have had to fabricate my own tongue loop on Martens in the past, but they took all things into consideration when they constructed these boots. As far as Zappos goes, I'll always order mine and my family's footwear from Zappos--you can't beat their customer service, return policy and the speed of their shipping!

Great boots. The toe cap adds a pretty cool detail. I bought these to wear with a kilt, but now I’m just wearing them all the time- jeans or khakis at work. My feet are really wide EEE, so I bought these 1/2 size larger and they worked out great. Also have a high instep, too. Love Zappos- I don’t buy shoes in stores anymore!

I am a hairdresser and am on my feet anywhere from 8 to 12 hours a day, and have searched for years for a comfortable and stylish shoe. These are the most amazing, comfortable shoes I have ever worn! There was no sucky break-in period; they were comfortable the minute I put them on! The leather is soft and flexible, not stiff like new Dr Martens usually are. I want to buy a second pair because I'm afraid this style will be discontinued by the time this pair are finally dead and gone! I never want to wear any other shoe besides this one! And Zappos, thanks for the speedy delivery! I will definitely shop with you in the future!

Great boot. Durable, look great, make me taller. Tucking the pants in really gives a military feel which is perfect, since that was what I was going for. Over the boot looks good too. Very comfortable and very pleased.

Great looking boots! Unfortunately, my feet are too wide and the boots do not have enough room, especially on the outsides. Also, these boots have too much room in the heels and ankle and that part slides around. Even with the laces as tight as they can go. I wish they fit better the style was just what I was looking for.

After 10 years in the US Army, I am very particular about my foot gear. After walking around the house about two weeks the boots were a great fit. They just needed broken in a little. I wanted a comfortable boot for walking and riding a motorcycle. Sadly most motorcycle boots are not designed well for walking. You can have the best of both worlds with this boot.

Make sure and read the man's reviews if you are an man. All Dr. Martens I have owned in the past have been size 10. I am debating whether to exchange these for an 11. The boot is much narrower than I am used to as well. It almost seems like they used a last for a unisex boot. Overall it is nice looking, but not nearly as well constructed my past pairs of 1460s or most of my nicer boots (Redwing, Filson, etc.), and it should be priced a lot lower considering that. The laces it comes with are garbage. The leather is pretty thin, and I do not forsee a long life for these.

Love the style of the boot. Be aware that 10 UK says it's 11 US but a bit large. I use insoles anyway so not a big deal for me. After 5 months of owning the boot (Just city walking), the heel on the right boot has begun to peel away from the sole. I never had any problems with the quality of Docs in the past, but these obviously are made a bit cheaply. I'm getting the same model as a replacement and just hoping that it was a defective pair.

I'd love to love these boots. They were everything I was looking for in a sturdy, stylish heavyweight Doc Martin, that is until the heels on both boots began to separate from the soles a month into everyday use. Now three months later they are almost completely separated. The rest of the boots have held up fine but I am afraid that these wont be in my closet much longer which is a shame for a product that everyone touts as indestructible. Be wary of you plan on making these your primary shoe for a while. They may not last.

My son had ordered and enjoyed a pair of these Dr Martens from you many years ago and was so pleased with the shoes and your service that it was his wish to receive another pair for his recent birthday. So, now he has his second pair. I agree. The boots and your service -- excellent.

I bought these boots due to the rave reviews. At first I was a little nervous because they felt very stiff across the instep and my heel was rubbing a bit. In 3, 8+ hour wears...they were completely broken in! The boot has a beautiful chocolate finish with a little bit of shine at the toe making them look very interesting. I also like how snug you can make them around the ankle. I have been using them for work. I stand all day. I am an 8.5 woman's wide and the mens UK 7 fits me perfectly.

These boots are excellent. I wear a size 9 and they ran true to that size. I have worn these boots quite a bit for at least a month and have noticed no wearing or any negative factors. They very comfortable and look great with khakis or jeans.
