So after about 45 minutes of narcissistic gazing, I've finally dragged myself away from the mirror long enough to write a review. I got these in pink because they go with everything. My black, brown, and gray coats look fabulous. They fit terrifically outside of my skinny pants, and I can't wait to see them with dresses. They are beautiful and so comfy. I ordered them a 1/2 size down from my usual 8 to a 7 1/2 and I am so happy. My heel is staying right in place, but I have plenty of room for my toes to not get all crunched up. These make my legs look amazing (if I do say so myself) and I've never felt so chic. I'm a flats girl , so the heel on these is a little high, but I love it! These are worth every penny and I'm a poor college student. I have a feeling I'll be spending more of my paychecks on other colors/styles because I am very impressed! Sorry, I need to get back to the mirror now.

These boots are beautiful- the color, the fit, everything. I was a little concerned about what other reviewers had to say about the boot's fit-I have an average width foot-but I found that they were easy to put on and pretty darn comfortable. Buy them!

These boots are absolutely my favorites of all time! They're comfortable, the color is fabulous and they fit great. The leather is soft and dreamy. They look marvelous with jeans and skirts. I've never had so many compliments on a pair of shoes or boots, buy them, they're worth every penny!

Love the eggplant color! Great Frye quality. Short version nice change of pace from tall boots. Would highly recommend!

I love the way this boot looks and feels when it is on. I had a lot of trouble getting it on and off at first. I almost sent it back but I found that each time I wore it, the boot was easier to put on and take off. A small price to pay for true cowboy boot style. Cowboy boots don't have zippers!

I love these shoes! They are comfortable and good looking. They are true to size, which was surprising for me, because I had thought that Frye's run small. However, they're not tight in the toes and are easy to slip on and off. I highly recommend them!

Fantastic Boots! I debated over the price, but can say that they were incredibly comfortable while walking all over Zurich for 10 days. Comfortable from first wearing, break in time was quick. Leather is like butter - stylish and practical. I am now a Frye convert!

I adore these boots! I have tried on Frye boots in other styles planning a someday purchase and the western fit of these is great and the style stole my heart. I have extremely high insteps so sized up in these. I measure a 6.5 in street shoes and ended up with a 7.5. They fit like real boots with a bit of movement (they are not intended for long distance walking, western styles are riding boots) and are meant to be worn with socks to cushion the room to provide more padding. I could have struggled my way into the 7s but saw no reason for that. If you have narrow feet or normal insteps I could definitely see sizing at your street shoe size in these.

Yes, these boots are fantastic, and I don't know how anyone could say they run true to size as my size was huge. Go down at least 1/2 size! They stretch and will be more comfortable over time I'm sure. The saddle color is beautiful, vintage with loads of character. Love.

Gorgeous! Before they arrived I was hoping they would not be so great. I mean, the price is not cheap. But they arrived and are freaking amazing! Yes, I am keeping these pretty boots. So comfy, so sexy without trying to be, I want to wear them around the house. Yes, they are that super cute. If you are not sure about the high price, then no worries because these will surely please. Love 'em.

I just wrote a review of the Billy short also. I tried on both styles and decided to keep the Carson shortie. I ordered the black in size 9.5. It fits perfect. Other reviewers mentioned getting half size smaller. I decided to keep to my true size in case the 9 is too snug. Personally, I don't like tight shoes. Other reviewers also mention the leather being more buttery (which it is) and might stretch more easily. Time will tell, but I'm not too concerned about that. The Carson shortie feels and fits well with or without socks. Heel slippage is slight, but apparently this is normal. The black is very nice without looking too dressy or shiny. I can wear it into the fall. The Carson is more urban and chic, and the Billy is more western. Both are great boots. Just depends on your personality and the look you desire. I love the Carson and can't wait to wear it! If the Carson shortie came with a version with rubber soles, I would wear it in the Chicago snow storms, too!

These boots are so beautiful. They do run a little big, but also narrow. I usually wear an 8.5, and 9 in boots and running shoes. I got these in an 8.5 and they are long in the length but perfect in the width. I tried on an 8 and they fit in the length but were too tight. I have narrow feet, so if you have regular width or wide feet, don't size down or they'll be too tight. The Shortie fits tighter than the Frye Carson Pull On. Also, the bottom has no traction and can be slippery on smooth floors or in rain or snow. I took mine to my local shoe repair shop and had thin rubber soles added to the bottom for only twelve dollars and it solved the problem perfectly.

Love, love, love these Frye boots. They were comfortable from the moment I put them on. I just about never have that happen so I recommend them highly!

The Carson shortie is an A+ design. Perfect with little dresses and jeans. I'm hoping to be able to wear them year round. The leather is thick and supple like the harness boot. The heel is a great height as well as the shaft. I'm a giant Frye fan, I own a bunch of pairs and love them. There's nothing better than a pair of Frye's! There are a couple of things to note with these boots. I found the fit a bit sloppy. I have a pretty wide foot and there's still lots of wiggle room. No arch support so you might want to add some and watch that the nails are set all the way on the bottom of the heels. They will eventually go in but can do a number on a soft floor. Get some and you will love them for years!

These boots are absolutely darling--a fantastic style and fit. They are comfortable, classic, and make all my outfits chic. Also Zappos was cheaper than the local retailers, and I had them in one day! Yay Frye! Yay Zappos!

Finally, a boot that has character and comfort right out of the box! I normally wear a size 9 in boots since I will probably need to wear socks with them. But, based on the other reviews of this boot, decided to go with my usual 8.5 size and so glad that I did. There is plenty of room in this boot for a thin or medium weight sock. The 9 would be too long. I have medium width and a high instep and had no difficulty getting the boot on. It's not as pointy as some boots and I much prefer this rounded toe. The leather of this brown boot is slightly distressed too, adding a vintage flare. Frye added some 'white' polish to areas of the boot to make it appear distressed but the white isn't overpowering or even that noticeable. Hence, if it really bothered you, you could take a bit of brown polish and cover it up. These boots are so soft and feel lived in for several years. Worth every penny! I will plan on getting the black ones as well. I got the brown at the fabulous sale price!

Great boots! Very high quality leather and construction. Western styling without being too cowgirl. Extremely comfortable and versatile. It's great with jeans, skirts and casual dresses. Runs large. I usually wear 7.5 in shoes and 8 in boots and the 7 fits me perfectly with room for socks. The light brown color will work both with Spring clothes and Fall/Winter.

These are the perfect bootie to wear with skinny jeans when you don't want to tuck your jeans into a boot--maybe those jeans that are just a tad too wide to fit inside a boot without knee wrinkles, but are too tight to wear outside a boot--these boots are plain but have a cool heel, very comfortable, very useful. They don't look too western either...I have them in black and can say that I wear them quite a bit...I am a solid size 7 and these fit just fine--I put an arch support in all my boots and these accomodate one perfectly...All around a very useful addition to your "boot wardrobe!"

Fantastic boots! As soon as I put them on, I could wear them all day, no wearing in required. Lovely quality leather which did not discolor when I waterproofed them. It is a light color leather and I tested the inside first - all good. I have wide feet and I usually have to go up a size in boots but the opposite was the case here. I am a 9 and I had to go to an 8.5 as they were too big other wise. I had tried them on before ordering on Zappos and the delivered boots were the correct size at 8.5. I was looking for the perfect boot to wear on a trip to New York, needing something to be in all day and still look and feel fab. These boots are it!

LOVE IT! Great boot with great style. Wanted something a little different than the tall boots you see everyone wearing and decided to go with the Shortie and I’ve been very pleased! I have extremely skinny legs and ankles, and these look stylish rather than silly. I also have very narrow feet, and first ordered a half size down as recommended, but the boots were still big, so I ended up exchanging for a full size down. And love Zappos, too! Great customer service!

Love them! Comfortable and classic. Sizing is perfect for a little heavier sock. Will wear them for a long time. They get better with age.

Awesome boots!I normally wear an 11 in boots so I ordered it in a Taupe 10 and a Light Brown 11.The 11 fits great and I wouldn't recommend going up a size if your feet are wide like mine. I also have the Billy Short boots in distressed brown and although I love them, they are a chore to get on until they're stretched and broken in. The Carson Shortie feels broken in the minute you put it on and goes on with very little effort which is unusual for me with my high instep. As expected Zappos provides fast delivery and free shipping and return shipping which you can't beat when buying boots. Zappos rocks and so does this boot. Now I 'm thinking of getting it in another color soon or maybe even another style Frye altogether. Frye boots really can't be beat!!!

These boots are great. I have 3 pairs of tall Frye boots and wanted a pair that could be worn under jeans as opposed to over, but found that these looked great both ways. The leather is very Frye. A beautiful distressed color that makes them look like I've been wearing them for years. I ordered them in my size (9) and they fit well, but like many other Frye boots there is minor heel-slippage, which I don't think would have stopped had I sized down. Overall these are great boots, and great for spring!

Don't know why I waited so long to order these boots! I have had Frye boots before, but these are phenomenal! The leather is SO soft - like "butta!" I wear a size 7 shoe/boot and 7 was not available in my color choice, so I ordered 6.5 - SO glad I did. They fit perfectly. Really love the quality and as always, the incomparable Zappos service! I will be purchasing another pair in one of the many FAB colors!
