This is a great shoe - light, firm, comfortable. In a good way, unnoticeable. The narrow fit is snug, but not tight. Very cushioned and an overall great fit.

Love them. I walk between 11-20 miles a day and they have never let me down. Went through two pairs right down to no tread left.

Ive been sticking with New Balance for the last three years and it has never disappointed me. The MR850 is probably one of their masterpieces.

So far I have bought all or my most recent shoes from Zappos and they helped pick out the perfect pair. These are perfect for my wide flat feet. They have excellent foot support and they cushioned just right and it is light. I have been through a lot of shoes and this one was most comfortable for my body.

Great Stability & Comfort - I am a bigger guy (6'2/210) with relatively flat feet running 20+mi/wk, and this is by far the best running shoe I have ever owned (on 2nd pair now, already purchased 3rd). If you need strong arch support this shoe will definitely provide it, but it does take a few (5-10) miles to break in as the StabiliCore feels a bit too tense at first.

Very comfortable shoes with a great fit. I take a narrow size, and these fit the bill. Lightweight and well cushioned. The knobby laces are nice, but I wonder how long they\'ll last?

These are solid shoes. They replaced the 853 which I thought were good shoes as well. In terms of comfort and support, these are great for me as I am heavier than most people at 225 lbs. I also put shoes through a very tough workout regimen and these have held up well. Stability is very good and cushioning is excellent. Very happy with these shoes. Love Zappos as well because I can order 12.5 size shoes. Very hard to find otherwise.

Great shoes. Especially for the wide foot sizes. Instead of moving up to a "too long" shoe to accommodate my wide feet, I could use the proper size and NB seems to have the only wide shoes that accommodate my wide feet. Good toe protection for trail use (I've used them to climb several 14,000 foot mountains in good weather on trails). Very light and good support for trail or paved running.

These shoes are very supportive. They cured my sore feet overnight. I used to turn ankles occasionally, but strong shoes like these have taken care of that. If your feet hurt, suspect your old shoes. Days after buying these shoes, I ordered an identical pair. I give them 2 stars out of 5 for style, and I\'ve not seen a running shoe that deserves a 3.\r\n\r\n

Fantastic shoes. I have a narrow foot and have always worn New Balance. The toe box is a little wider than previous 850 series shoes.

This is the best NB shoe I\'ve ever owned. They are very lightweight and comfortable. I am a walker, not a runner, and find these shoes well suited for my stride and my aging boomer feet. The quality of construction is far superior to some of their lower priced models, making the relatively high price feel more justified. They were comfortable from the start and required no break-in. If I had any criticism, it would be to add a bit more cushioning and to tone down the stark whiteness of the side soles and laces. Otherwise it\'s a nice looking shoe. I like the blue and high-viz green trim.\r\n

I received these shoes overnight. Immediately I liked them. The sizing and width seem right on. The toe box is very roomy, a little more than I would like but not bothersome. I have plantar fasciitis and my orthotics fit perfectly in these shoes since these shoes provide firm and controlled footing.

I've always had great results with Zappos. I find what I wanted at a good price. This product was delivered promptly and in good condition. In the past, I've needed to return some shoes that just didn't work for me and they were accepted back with no questions asked. I recommend Zappos to everyone.

The most comfortable shoe I've ever owned! Great cushioning in the heelbed, and compatible with my orthotics. I have narrow feet, so the B width is perfect. The only thing I would say is order a half size larger than you normally wear.

I have run in many brands of running shoes, and the 768 and 850 are two of the best in which I've ever walk/run. There is an excellent volume of cushioning material and near perfect support for this early 60s (age) walker/runner. From a support/cushioning standpoint, I purchased a several pairs of Dr. Scholl's Tri Comfort inserts (WalMart has the best price); this insert provides an excellent alternative to the stock insert (of course, I remove the stock insert before inserting the Dr. Scholl). It adds additional cushioning in the heel and under the arch; the insert ends at the ball of the foot, which leaves more toe room than with the standard insert. The 850's stock insert is fine, but I walk/run so much that I like changing the feel of my shoes. As an alternative shoe, I use the 768, however, the 850 is my shoe of choice. The overview--this is a great shoe and lighter than its predecessor the 859. NB has a winner for support and cushioning and it runs true to size. I also purchased a pair for a female family member, and it remedied her plantar fasciitis. You have got to love this shoe!

I bought these shoes after reading a very few limited reviews on the New Balance website (these are fairly new to the market and limited input). I previously had been a die hard Asics Gel Evolution 2 and 3 user, but their new 4 didn't fit like the old models did. The Brooks Beast feels like I am running in boat anchors (very heavy) so I gave these a try. Instantly I was impressed with the lightness of the shoes compared to other cushioning and motion control shoes. I am a severe over pronator and have had problems with shin splints for years and just endured through them and the pain. I just got back into running after a 5 year hiatus and had gained some weight. I was 235 and 6ft when I started and the shin splints came back instantly with my old worn out Asics. I gave New Balance a call seeking help on finding a new shoe and they were very helpful. This shoe is perfect for heavier runners that over pronate. The fit of the shoe is typical New Balance, so it runs about half a size small. The toe box area is a bit roomy with the heel being roomy as well. The padding in the heel is ample and forces you to run on the ball of your foot. This is the natural way to run (search for a popular science article on running and stride). The arch support is great and helps to prevent the runner from rolling their foot (over pronating). The only thing I wish they would add on the next model is more padding in the toe area. After 3 or so miles my toes start to go numb (didn't happen in the Beast or Gel Evolutions), but I have started to grow out of that issue as my feet get used to the shoe. The shin splints have actually started to go away and I am actually enjoying running again. I have put a little over 200 miles on mine in a short time and can see myself putting more miles in them every week. This shoe is a must for those sever over pronators over 200lbs with shin splints and wanting to get back into running.

Based on other reviews, felt I could order my usual size of 8.5-this was not the case. Will try another size and half size down. \r\n

Good support. Nice and wide. Cushiony and able to accommodate my orthotics. I am a woman with wide feet and a bunion on one foot, as well as other foot and ankle-related problems and so far these shoes have been comfortable with little or no foot pain during my runs.

The shoe seems a little less cushioned and maybe a little larger footbox, but is essentially similar to others in the series. I have not had any problems physically running in this shoe.

This is not a shoe for runners with very flat feet. Several years ago I ran through multiple pairs of an earlier incarnation of this shoe (the NB 855 and 856) and like them very much. The new NB 850 has a feature called the Stabilcore that is basically a stiff plastic ridge that runs along the arch. Since I have a very flat foot, that ridge presses into my arch making the shoe uncomfortable. This shoe will probably be good for runners with medium (not low) arches wanting cushioned motion control.

Saucony Guide 3 is a very similar shoe.

Not for Low Arch - This shoe looks nice but has a very wide tongue and narrow midfoot. I felt that the Stabilcore pronation control device was not placed correctly and acts more like a hard rubber arch insert and sort of jams into your midfoot. It should be placed back more towards the heel and act in conjunction with a side panel such as in the Brooks Beast. Also, this shoe has little forefoot support. This makes the shoe uncomfortable for my low arch foot.
