Let me first say that I have been wearing Bates boots for over 14 years now. I use them mainly for work boots because they were built tough. These new boots are a totally different animal from the Bates of old. The zipper looks like it belongs on a little black dress instead of a pair of boots. Every aspect of the new Bates boots seems to be whimpified. I just wanted to let fellow long time Bates wearers know. The pics are so vague you can't tell.

I must say that these boots I bought are the best I ever had. They are better than Magnum boots. They have superior grip like no other. Believe me, when I walk in the fish, meat, and produce markets in the Bronx you don't slip at all.

This review is from a current Highway Patrol MOS. I ordered these boots to use while I am on the desk. As soon as I put these boots on, I felt that they were tight especially around the top of my foot. The body of the boot has this weird pressure point that caused major discomfort to my foot. I tried walking around with them, and by the 15-20 step I knew these boots were not keepers. Hope this helps everyone who is thinking about buying these boots. I am still looking, and might end up going with Magnum boots. The only bad about the Magnums were the cheap zipper and cheap ankle support. Well, let's see how it goes. Wish me luck.

These boots were comfortable the first day I wore them which is 10-12 Hours a day. Have been buying this boot for about 3 years and they just keep making them better.

Was a little wide

I was notified by e mail that this boot was back in stock, however still no size 8. I was very disappointed. This is the exact same style of boot I have had for several years and I wanted to replace them before they wore out completely.

I needed a size 8 with medium width but only the 8 1/2 in ee width was available. I hoped I could get away with the larger size but it was just too big. I did request to be notified if my size came in. This is the exact style of boot I have have had for over 6 years and I haven't been able to find it.

Purchased for my husband for work. These shoes meet his high standards for a boot that remains comfortable during twelve or more hour work days.

Great boots, cheap laces. Buy replacement laces with them.
