In the last couple of years, Bass (as well as other brands Johnston and Murphy, Brooks Brothers, J.Crew, LL Bean, Florsheim...) have started using what seems like EVA foam for the soles of their shoes. This is not meant to be an outsole material. Like all plastic foams, It is easily abraded and stained and it begins to pancake over time with repeated uses. Some brands are using injection molded foam rather than cut foam (injection molded has a smoother bottom) in order to help mitigate the problem a little bit (Johnston and Murphy). Others like Walk Over seem to be doing a proper Goodyear welt but over a worthless EVA outsole. Why? On the upside, the shoe is light, comfortable, and flexible right out of the box. No break-in required. The suede has almost no nap -- unusually and uncharacteristically smooth. The trim details are cheap and borderline shiny. But what can you expect from a buck at this price? I it would be nice if Bass and others would offer a proper buck for $150 with proper suede, a proper welt, and a proper outsole. That way I'd feel like cleaning and repairing them instead of just disposing of them. Bottom line: these look good for a couple months but are poorly made and don't last.

I feel like this style of shoe has more or less died out which is a shame. When shopping for this style I had extreme difficulty finding any thing in a decent price range if at all. This is a great shoe. Exactly what I was looking for and for a great price. You can wear them with anything from jeans to a more formal outfit. I recommend them.

Very comfortable shoe and extremely lightweight. I have found they look better with jeans than most dress pants. They do a better job of making casual look dressy than making dressy look casual.

My husband was very impressed with the fact that a shoe ordered over the internet was a perfect fit and a quality shoe. Color was exactly as pictured and shoe was true to size.

A great shoe and a summer classic! Wore these with a pair of flat-front cotton khakis and a chambray shirt to a family gathering recently and got a lot of complements. I guarantee I won't be the only one wearing a pair at the next warm-weather get together. As far as quality goes, it's a Bass. What else is there to say?

These are extremely comfortable and really nice.

These are great. They are for my 13 year old son for Cotiliion. He is happy and my husband wants a pair! He wears them with Superfeet inserts and says they are really comfortable.

Great, stylish shoe for teens who hate getting out of their skate sneakers. They look great with khakis and a blue blazer for an all-around classic American look.

Nice casual shoes. They look good. The footbed is nice and smooth and feels good. The front half is slightly curved up and flexible to make walking more smooth and natural. It feels very light.

Nice shoe but they do run a bit small and tight. I would go up 1/2 size. Nunn Bush has similar and are a better fit.

They look good, but the break in period was a little rough. They are comfortable now, but it took about a week. I feel like the soles are going to be pretty slippery in the snow.

These are great shoes. I wear them without socks and they fit perfectly. They work well with khakis or jeans.

The leather is soft. They show scuffs and signs of wear very quickly. I like that. Looking at these side-by-side with the (less expensive) Bass Brockton, the difference appears to be the sole and insole. The Buckingham has a much softer sole. The insole of the Brockton looks nicer, but I have not worn them.

This is a decent suede buck. The proportions are good. The shoes are very light due to the foam mid/outsole compound. They are pretty comfortable however they are probably intended to be worn with socks due to a fuzzy footbed in the toebox. Good for the price, but far short of Bass shoes of old.

This is a great twist on a classic buck with the white stitching giving a nice accent to a straight black suede. They are very comfortable to wear to work all day. I highly recommend these for something different in the business casual category.

A beautiful shoe! Looks and feels great! Purchased for my husband, and he loves them. True to length and width. Bass never disappoints!

I bought these shoes for my husband and he absolutely loved them! Great looking and comfortable, he said he'd by a pair in every color. Zappos is the place to go for great men's shoes.

Very comfortable straight away. The shoes look great - casual yet stylish. I really like the two different colors of laces that come with the shoes. Have worn about 10 times so far, and they seem to be holding up well. The surface doesn't get too scuffed or marred, which was one of my worries. Definitely would purchase another pair.

Great shoes. Do be aware that the leather is more suede-like than leathery. I was initially worried about how they would hold up in bad weather but I live in Boston and they are working just fine so far.

Awesome shoe! They are unique but they are awesome! Very comfortable. They do run small so I usually wear a 12-12.5 but I had to go with a 13. Patriotic and Stylish, what more could you want?

I have purchased lots of shoes from this site and this pair is no exception. Lots of compliments and very confortable. I saw a similar pair in NYC for almost twice the price.

Outstanding pair of shoes. There was a similar pair for slightly less, these are worth the extra coin. Highly recommend these, fit like a glove right out of the box.

I was impressed with the quality of these shoes. As well as the prompt delivery of them. I do plan to do more shopping in the future with Zappos.

Comfortable and looks great. My only complaint is that it's a bit heavy, but that's not really that big a deal.
