These are beautiful boots but if you're not super tall they're very unflattering. I am 5'4", 115 pounds, which is average height and they come almost to my knee with a lot of space around the leg, they remind me of fishing waders. I wish Frye would make this boot in a shaft height that works on average & shorter height women (like the height of the tall UGG boots) . Every single pair of their tall boots seems to have the same shaft height, no variation. I have quite a few Frye booties but have had to send back the taller boots every time because they absolutely swamp me. Why not offer the same boots in different shaft heights for short, average, and tall?

I ordered these on Sunday morning there were here bright and early Tuesday. I have the Harness double ring, Campus Crepe, and Bethany. I love Frye! The company is fantastic to work with and I asked them for fit information between this shoe and the Taylor. I wanted something with a slight heel but nothing crazy. I cannot wear high heels to work, but this boot is perfect! And in Smoke! Gray, black, brown goes with all of it! My scrunches a little because the leather is soft, but very well made. My dad has had a pair since the 60's!

Fryes are always winners for me. These boots are beautifully constructed and high quality. Immediately comfortable out of the box. Note: I think these boots might not work for someone with larger calves.

I usually wear a 7 but based on other reviews, I ordered down a half size and the 6.5 fits perfectly. I\'m not wearing a boot sock with them though, just regular old Gold-Toes. I wore them to work (with skirts) two days in a row (9+ hours each) and my feet felt great, they are extremely comfortable. The leather is soft, high quality and smells like leather, not dye. The Carson style is very classic, simple and understated. I got the tan and was a little ambivalent about it when I saw it in person but received 5 compliments in one day. I got a pair of Tony Lamas in the same order but haven\'t worn them yet because I like these so much! This will not be my last pair of Frye boots. Highly recommend. Do it, you know you want to.

I love this boot! I've tried and returned many pairs (thank you, Zappos) over the past 5 years, I kid you not. Finally, a well-made stylish yet classic boot, that fits and is comfortable. Guess I was destined for Frye boots 35 yrs. after my first pair!

These boots are perfect for what I wanted, not too cowboy, more like a cross between cowboy and riding style boots. They look great under pants or skirts! It's all been said by others: these are comfortable out of the box, the leather up the leg is like butter (though it stays up just fine on me), the color is gorgeous (I got one of the last plum pairs - a unique dark purple, that works great with my wardrobe). The fit ran a little small on me, but I was forewarned by the reviews and got a 7 even though I've never before worn anything smaller than a 7 1/2. They're snug going down the 1/2 size since they are narrow, but I wear them with thin socks, no problem. Altogether a great boot purchase, and I've worn them every day in the 2 weeks since I bought them. I love the fact that they have leather soles since good leather-soled boots can be resoled over and over and last forever. I know these will be worn for many years and be well worth the money for that reason.

This is my first pair of Frye's! I was Leary about spending almost so much on a pair of boots. I wear a size 7 and this is what I purchased. The boots were difficult to get on at first, but once on they felt pretty good as far as fit and comfort. But after the first wearing I thought I made a huge mistake, and maybe should have bought a 7½ as I had blisters on my heels after wearing them for just a few hours. I think it was because I wore them with thick socks. After the blisters healed I tried again but this time I did not wear any socks. I did not have any problems, in fact they are the most comfortable boots that I have ever owned (well except for my vintage, worn-in, fit like a glove cowboy boots). I have worn them about 10 times and wear them with socks now to keep my feet warm. The leather is so luxurious and soft and has already conformed to my tootsies. I love these boots! Love them so much, I think that I will have to purchase a pair of shorties.

The Carson is a great boot. Unlike some other reviews, I found these true to size. However, I ordered several other styles and found that they all vary. Zappos is great about returns, so no need to worry. I wore these boots to a college football game with lots of walking and they did great...no break in time at all. The shaft of the boot is soft leather so it does tend to slouch a bit. They are a nice alternative the the classic cowboy boot syle!

Love these boots. Replaced my 15 year old Fryes which were similar but more casual looking. These can dress up if necessary. Comfortable out of the box but do take a little wearing to mold to your foot. Quality is excellent.

Strangely, not all Frye boot sizing is dependable. These were actually a perfect fit for my size 10 foot. Other Frye's were almost impossible to get on. I love these but would like just a bit more heel and for this much dough they had better be perfect. Reluctantly going back and continuing my search.

Narrow Shaft - Too narrow, even for narrow feet. I ordered these from another web-site and went down 1/2 size as they were men's supposedly. Could not even get my very narrow foot inside the boot, was very disappointed. The leather is very cheap looking and thin, not the usual Frye Quality.

These boots are comfortable and cute! I like the dip in the front and tabs on the side. The leather smells wonderful. If you get them be careful of the slick bottoms. I skidded on wet pea gravel concrete like it was ice and almost wiped out. Afterward I did some twisting on rough concrete to scuff the heels and soles, which seems to have fixed the problem.

Love these boots! Classy, not flashy, and oh-so-soft! Very easy to get on. As with my other Frye boots, I ordered 1/2 size smaller than my normal size. I do wish they had lug soles; I am taking mine to a cobbler to have rubber half-soles put on. Otherwise, they are the perfect boot!

Love love love them. After sampling different styles of Frye (thanks Zappos!) I've found 'my Fryes'! My only complaint -- while I love the style, I'm not crazy about the 'shiny' look of this leather! I wish they were more 'matte' looking. I completely love the the boot though, so am keeping, but does anyone know of a way to get rid of the 'shine' of this leather? Maybe I'll contact Frye to see if they have a suggestion. In the meantime, I'll buy more Fryes from Zappos!

This is a beautiful boot. Great support, lightweight and supple. Feels great to walk in. I ordered my usual size and it was a bit big. Next time will order 1/2 size down. I'm returning this pair but will order another Frye boot to replace it.

Love these boots! They were comfortable right out of the box, beautifully made, and very flattering. I have narrow feet and calves and this style worked well for me. As with other Frye boots, I ordered a half size smaller than my "normal" size and they fit perfectly.

Beautiful looking boots but definitely not for me. I'm 5'7" with average-width, longish legs and ordered a 9.5. They were easy to pull on and around the foot they fit great. But these are taller than expected and the shaft was too wide and made more unflattering with the dip in front. The soles are very slick -- was sliding on the carpet when I tried them on at home. Very nicely packaged but frankly I'd expect a better overall boot for this price. I can also confirm from other reviews that the boot in the video is NOT the same boot in the pictures. The video boot is what I was looking for and is obviously shorter with different style features (more turned up toe, wider straight shaft on side view, etc.). That boot is clearly actually mid-calf in height and also has a slight dip in the top back whereas this one's shaft is WAY beyond the claimed 13 inches (I personally measured 17 inches from middle of arch to the top) and cut straight across the back. It appears the listed specs are actually for the boot in the video even though the boot you get is what's in the pictures. Confusing! The video should be removed and the product details corrected.

The fit was perfect. Great look. My only issue is the slick bottom. I was sliding around on carpet so I’m sure on ice or wet surfaces would not be safe. Nice looking boots but I’m returning them based on the slippery sole.

I just received my boots and they are beautiful! I was afraid that maybe my calf would be too big... 15”. My leg slid in beautifully and the size in the foot is perfect. They come right up to underneath my knees. Perfect. I love these because they’re classy, simple and can be worn with anything. I lived in. Italy for years...and one thing I miss, is their leather and suede goods. Well I found my Italy in Zappos!! Thank you!

I take size 8.5 in most footwear but have learned Frye's size 8 are always best for me; 8.5 has too much room in the toe. These red Carson Pull-ons are a beautiful crimson as pictured (blue-red, not Chinese or orange-red). With a little powder sprinkled down the shaft, they pull on fairly easily. This style did not need breaking in at all. Very happy. ( For the occasional Fryes that do need breaking in (i.e. too tight) I put on a pair of socks, struggle into the boots, and - YES - hold my foot under hot water faucet, boot and all, till damp. Then walk around for a few hours. No harm at all is done to the leather; it looks exactly the same, but boots now fit perfectly! ) One complaint about Carson Pull-ons: the decorative straps at the top tend to rub together annoyingly as I walk. They are the extended calf (by accident) & don't know if this would happen with regular calf.

I read many reviews and decided to order these boots 1/2 size smaller than I would usually buy and that decision was perfect. Instead of 10, I ordered a 9.5. I have a narrow foot and I think Frye boots tend to run a little narrow. With a thick sock, they are are a good fit. My only complaint is that the calf part is a little wide, but again I have slender calves so that shouldn't be an issue for most people. Overall the boots are beautifully made and comfortable.
