These boots are very comfortable, but mine are definitely not waterproof. Walking in wet grass, my toes and socks are soaked in less than an hour. They are comfortable, and I like the fit, but I need waterproof boots. Merrell customer service has been unresponsive on this.

These boots provide the stability that I need underfoot and around my ankles. I can feel the firmer support under my forefoot below the fourth and fifth toes that I have not found in other shoes. They are going to prevent me from twisting my feet or spraining my ankles and falling as a result.

I wear this boot everyday of crop harvest, and find myself going back to them when we're out of the field. I have plantar fasciitis and metatarsel tunnel syndrome in my right foot and this boot gives me the support. Even without my orthodic, my foot is supported well. Love the look, weight and waterproof qualitites also.

I like this shoe a lot, I have several broken toes yet the rounded toe doesn't pinch them and of coarse they have good arch support and are comfortable to walk in all day long. They are typical Merrell's sizing is a little smaller so i order a half size up.

I love these boots. The toe box is big enough to fit comfortably while the heal doesn't slip off or cause blisters. There was almost no break-in time needed. They fit well and were comfortable immediately.

These boots are very lightweight compared to other brands I've tried. The boots were very comfortable, soft flexible leather but with good ankle support. Also, I wear size 6.5 in sneakers and shoes but I followed the advice of others and bought both 6.5 and 7. Turns out everyone is 100% right on ordering half size up. The 6.5 was too snug but the 7 felt perfect. I am petite size 0, 5'0 tall with narrow high arch feet. I love the neutral brown color. They look very cute (much better than picture). I love them! Definitely worth paying the price to get these.

I am size 10 and ordered an 11 so I could wear thicker socks if desired. Comfortable with regular socks too. I wore them on a service trip, comfortable right out of the box, no rubbing or sore feet. Purchased for a 4 day hike in Arizona. Seem to be waterproof and the support is great. I purchased this pair over several keens and another pair of Merrell. The Keens just didn't cut it in comparison with these. The leather is nice, maybe not very feminine as some others but they still look good and quality. Very pleased!

I bought these hiking boots to head to New Life Hiking Spa in Killington, Vermont. I'd never hiked before, but these boots were comfortable straight out of the box. I bought them 1/2 size larger than what I usually wear.

I'm in love with these hiking boots. I have a serious problem with arthritis in my feet, and these boots are amazingly comfortable. And besides, they look good!

I love this boot. Way more comfortable than any of my running shoes. Great support and footbed. Truly waterproof. I normally wear a 7 in running shoes and a 6.5 to 7 in heels. I ordered a 7 in these, and they fit great!

I recently had major surgery on my foot, and I've been trying to find a winter boot that will fit over the swelling. This one works well because it opens almost to the toe and is very easy to lace up again, The footbed isn't as soft as I'd like, but I'll get some insoles. The boots are light and comfortable to walk in, since the sole bends quite easily. I needed this flexibility. Very pleased with them. I don't know how true to size they are because I had to get wide which I don't normally wear, and 2 sizes larger to fit my one foot.

I wouldn't trade these shoes for anything. This is the first pair of Merrell hiking boots I've purchased. I haven't tried them out in any super wet conditions so I can't speak about that but I do walk and hike with big dogs 3-5 miles a day so I need all around support. They're a dream.

These shoe were comfortable from the very first time I put them on. I hiked the mountains and rugged terrain in Arizona after a few hours of break-in and never once had any discomfort. Two days into the trip a section of the dark suede on top of toes came loose (faulty suede, I think). I called Zappos and they had a replacement pair waiting at my next point in the trek. The boots have a more pliable (yet very padded) sole that seemed to give a much better traction/sure footed feel.

I purchased this hiker for a trip to Glacier and Banff. I put about 50 miles on them in just a few days of intense hiking. They are comfortable with little to no break in required. They are definitely waterproof, light and very comfortable. I would recommend these boots.

This is my second pair; my first pair lasted a full 2 years, worn daily for 4-mile fast walking as well as for hiking trips until the outer heels (outer outside edge only) wore a little down, which could be expected with such constant use. The superior ankle support is a major factor for my choice of this Merrell boot a second time around.

This is my third winter wearing these boots, and I'm hoping to get through one more before I have to find a replacement for them! Waterproof, stain resistant, warm, breathable... they're everything I was hoping for to get me through the crazy winter weather we experience around here. My only regret is not buying them a half-size larger to accommodate the thicker socks I prefer to wear during cold weather.

I got these for my wife (we often go camping in the mountains, and the desert). They fit her right out of the box, and are very lightweight. She loves them.

I bought these for a Fall hiking trip in upstate NY. Conditions were wet and muddy, and these kept my feet totally dry, even when I had to cross a shallow stream! They were so comfortable I needed no break in period. I usually wear a 5.5, but wasn't sure of the fit so I ordered both a 5.5 and 6 to compare. I kept the 6 so I could wear a thick sock with it. Worked perfectly. Great hiking shoe and light, too!

I ordered these boots in both an 8 and an 8½ and was sure that one of them would be perfect. I love Merrell shoes and boots for their excellent arch support since I have had plantar fasciitis in the past, but, alas, these boots were really narrow on my feet. Even the 8½ felt narrow and not much longer than the 8. I was surprised because they had mostly favorable reviews. I am sending them back but will try other Merrell models.

I normally wear a 6-6.5, and generally order a 6.5 in hiking boots so I can wear thicker socks. These boots are really off in the sizing -- small! They feel like a 6, instead of a 6.5. That being said, I've tried about a dozen hiking boots & shoes and these, except for feeling too small, feel quite comfortable. They look very sturdy and well made. The Vibram sole has serious tread, is stable in the midfoot and heel, but flexible where your foot needs to breakover. I can't stand hiking boots in which the soles feel like wood blocks -- these feel quite natural. The insoles are fully removable. Arch support is moderate. If you need something more or have orthotics, it should be simple to them swap out. They also don't make your feet look like huge clown feet. Nice, clean styling. So I will be exchanging these size 6.5s for size 7 and I hope that will end my search for hiking boots!

I purchased these boots with much research. I needed waterproof hiking boots for a 3 day/2 night hike up Chirripo Mountain in Costa Rica. Per the previous comments on this boot, I did order a half a size bigger - 8. The boot fit well. A small fraction bigger, but I did order bigger. Having that extra bit of room, made the climb down the mountain very comfortable. I didn't get to experience the need of the waterproof, but I can certainly tell you nothing was getting thru these boots. Which was not necessarily a good thing. Because of the heat, my feet were pretty toasty. I wasn't uncomfortable per say, but if these boots had breathable material; I would have been a much happier trekking along. Also note, no breaking in required. Bonus since I got these on short notice. Overall, you will be happy, especially if you are hiking up north in cooler weather.

I bought this boot because I had a pair of Siren hiking shoes that fit perfectly. These boots fit a bit tighter in the same size, but are still ok size-wise. Construction seems good, except for the fact that the left boot has a ridge inside under the removable insole that I was not aware of for several days (when the insole compressed enough for me to feel it). That ridge rests under the tips of my toes and will become painful in time. I wish I had noticed it before I decided to keep the shoes, because it would have been an automatic return due to the obvious flaw.

Super nice boots. They took a couple of days to become wonderful- there was a crease on the right boot at first, but it went away. I wear them on my farm, hiking in the hills, doing chores, in town. They've been submerged in water and mud and they've survived. Love the color too. I'm an 8.5 but got a 9 and they're perfect with regular socks.

My beloved pair of Merrell boots (RIP) have been replaced after 10 years of wear. These are lighter in weight then the last, which I really like. They are "put on and wear" boots. No break in period. My foot is narrow so I can cinch up the laces to make them tighter. I also add an insole for better arch support. I had plantar fasciitis & had to wear my other pair for 2 years straight. The arch support is just because of my feet and not these shoes. Looking forward to many years of wear!

I bought these 1/2 size larger than my normal shoe and they fit perfectly. Went hiking in Yosemite without breaking them in and they were great. Very comfortable and great support.
